Hey guys! So we officially have the "NEW" Boxycharm by Ipsy Boxes and I am still confused. This is just Ipsy Plus in a box and not a bag?? Why even apply the Boxycharm name to it? I think it was just a way to bring BoxyCharm members over to Ipsy. They should have at least put "Boxycharm" on the pink box, that would have med it seem like the two brands were coming together. So, the beauty boost is supposed to be like boxy premium, except each month you get to choose whether you want it or not. At least I got to choose. I think that’s better than blindly going in! Also, I think the perks that they are talking about are more opportunities to choose products and the sales. I understand that nothing is going to be ideal, but it’s a little bit better in my opinion. Much love❤

You are definitely not misremembering the boxes of yesteryear lol. All the products, makeup and skincare, were high end brands. All the time! These recent boxes have been sooooo disappointing. I’d say the past 2 years have just plummeted. So I agree with you 100%! I’ll always watch these videos of yours tho lol😂😂
That's the key word used to be good. Most stuff is ok, and other stuff you want is not picked for you, or sold out.
The moment they became more unknown brands I stopped subscribing. It was when I was just getting really into makeup and I wanted to try to better products to see if I liked them.
Also so much of the stuff I wasn’t a fan of/did not work with my coloration. Despite filling out the profile.

@@rigginsrallygirl I unsubbed two years bc of the unknown products (several I'd look up wld show only one or two products on the site, leading me to believe they were basically Alibaba bulk junk that you can pay to have a private label put on) and everything being opposite of my profile, which when I complained, was told that they don't use the profiles bc the fun of the box is to introduce you to products/shades you wouldn't try otherwise. I was just over getting brown lipsticks and boxes of junk that weren't anywhere near what they'd show, usually my box wasn't even one of the many versions they'd show. I think they set up these little "indie beauty company" websites (it's easy and cheap) buy bulk products from Alibaba and slap a custom label on. Long gone are the days of boxes filled w popular name brand stuff you'd find at sephora.

Girl, I'm SO GLAD I FOUND YOU!! Everyone I know, myself included, is pissed about this whole move.. I had all the tiers of BoxyCharm and pre-paid for some and the IPSY customer support told me they won't refund my pre-purchase done in Feburary and are keeping $300+ for IPSY boxes instead of refunding me?! I'm so utterly disappointed and pissed :( Glad its not just me and my gals being mad too LOL!

If you had any premium boxes that transferred over from the actual BoxyCharm then you automatically get signed up for beauty boost and it makes it the same price as the other premium box. Plus, you get your 6 items that you got with the other box. I am not good with explaining stuff, so I hope this helps. ❤

Yes, the boosted box is what replaced the boxycharm premium. So if you had a boxycharm premium subscription it converted into the boxycharm with beauty boost by ipsy.
So they went from $6 per item ($30/5) to $7.5 ($45/6) per item? That’s stupid 😕

Ipsy and boxycharm (more often boxycharm) back in the day definitely had a lot more well known brands. I cancelled my subscriptions a few years ago. I remember there being tarte, too faced, urban decay, ofra and a bunch of others.
Several years ago when I first tried Ipsy, it definitely had namebrand items because that’s how I became acquainted with such brands as Colourpop and Two-Faced etc.
Now I feel like it is just like taking a trip to the clearance section of Marshall’s cosmetics aisle… not worth the price of admission frankly!

This month my "boxycharm" had one makeup product. ONE. The rest are skincare. My profile clearly says I prefer makeup. Also, the dropshop of boxycharm was soooo much better than the ipsy shop. Better selection and prices. I could rant about this for ages lol
When I complained 2 yrs ago about my boxes being opposite of my profile, I was told that the profiles are used to see what products subs favor overall, that it wasn't meant as an individual guide for your box and that the fun of sub boxes is to try shades and products you wouldn't otherwise choose. I canceled immediately after. It's so misleading to stress everyone do their profile to make us think it's to personalize when really it's a marketing tactic to see what products are most popular.
I asked for mostly skin care and little makeup and both April and May the items they chose for me are makeup!!
Ok...this is the first time in my life I've gotten the exact same items as someone else. (1st box) I bet that means there's alot less variation than there used to be. And there absolutely used to be better brands. I remember getting Tarte, Too Faced, Elemis, Sol de Janeiro, and Dr Brandt all in one box. That J-Lo product reminds me of Jeffree's skin stuff only not as pretty. As for the boost, I prefer to boost my booty with pizza 🍕! 😅
This seems to happen to alot of people who don't go and pick their own products on choice day. When you do pick your products the variations are basically endless.
@Melissa Minor Oh, I know...I usually do customize but I had alot going on this month and missed it. I was just worried that the merge, the cheaper packing/packaging, failure to change packaging whatsoever after such a "big, fun, new change", and the declining amount of quality brands was signaling a lack of funds perhaps? I hope not lol
@@melissaminor6104 even after one hour the variations were limited people were saying. I got offered scrunchies, refreshments and lip gloss like a lot of other people last month and this was at 1 hr after choice opened.
@@mirrormirror444 ya but things are not normally like this with ipsy. They had alot of issues with this merge. Give it a couple of months for them to get it all sorted out and they will be back on track. Been with them for 8 years and once they get used to being just one big company they will get back to normal. The same thing happened when they went from having just the glam bag with sample size products to adding on ipsy plus with full size products.
The only improvement I can see is that you can pick more than one item with the base box now, but they promised better items. They advertised some of those items, but I didn’t get a single one.🤷♀️
I really liked getting the drawstring bag...it might be silly, but I am actually disappointed that it is no longer included, lol
I cancelled ipsy way back when they raised the price for $20 to $30 dollars, and I'm not sad that I did, I never got anything that I just absolutely loved. I'm a goth and I wear very bold colors on my eyes because everything else is very black, and ipsy wanted to take my profile and throw it out the window.
I got so much pastel washed out colors, my sister and daughters in laws lived all the stuff.
But now I just order from gothic brands!
If you love that kinda make up check out the brand love lace cosmetics it's owned and made by a goth

I canceled Boxy over a year ago, and I'm so glad that I did. You're right that the products were higher end and seemed more useful. I guess everyone is feeling inflation now.

The brands inside the boxes are definitely not the same as they were 3+ years ago. I used to sub to both Ipsy and Boxy Charm, with the quarterly upgrade and I’m so happy that I cancelled everything two years ago. I love watching your channel but the way that this “change” has happened is just ridiculous. ❤
I was skeptical when they said the products wouldn’t change,but I just got my first Boxycharm box marked Ipsy and I hate it. The products were brands I’ve never heard of, there was no foam protection inside to keep the products from sliding all over the place and potentially getting smashed, and every single item was skincare. They totally ignored my preferences. Boxy always had a good balance of makeup, skincare and makeup/skincare tools. If it isn’t any better next month, that’s it I’m out. I had subscribed to Ipsy a few years ago and ended it after about 7 months because it was crap. Compared to what I got, your items were fantastic….lol
Thanks so much for reminding me why I canceled Ipsy, many times. Ipsy decided that my words "Please cancel my subscription" actually meant "Please upgrade my membership to the most expensive tier of Ipsy $$$" Once that was cleared up I received one of the lower tier bags. After seeing your video I'm convinced that Ipsy does this more often than not & hopes it goes unnoticed or ignored. I enjoyed a few decent skincare items from Ipsy, but l used to read the ingredient list in things & I decided to just start making my own skincare products. Sry 4 going on for so long!

Don't forget that extra $1.95 they also charge per box. I believe they label it the "service fee."
They do give you an option of what to choose as your BeautyBoost on choice day. You can choose the main item chosen or between a few other options.
I never got to choose my item at all this past month.
I’ve been able to change my beauty boost item every month when choosing my other items. They have 4 options for beauty boost you just have to click on it to choose another option if you don’t like what they picked. Been a member since they started I really miss the Generation Beauty expos they had.
The thing that is aggravating me, the most, is that I have to get up somewhere between four to 6 o’clock in the morning in order to feel like I’m going to be able to get good choices, they have this set up for people on the East Coast. Those of us on the West Coast have to get up before the chickens in order to get anything decent.
I canceled boxy and Ipsy a year ago and I haven’t missed it one bit. I see this whole Ipsy and Boxy together thing going downhill fast 😅 I seriously just buy what I want from Sephora and Ulta 🤷♀️
I used to love getting IPSY when it first came out you got well known brands, and usually at least 1 or 2 full size items, then they starting putting smaller and smaller products, and then they brought out the other bag, its just disappointing.
I was excited to start getting the "Boxycharm" box. I had always received the Ipsy Plus. The prices on any of the extra things you can buy has increased in price it's ridiculous. I'm so disappointed!

I had the original boxycharm base box, and now that its ipsy, i get to choose 3 items every month, and the other two are chosen for me (called ipsy power picks) I'm personally loving it so far, because being able to choose three items per month makes me feel like im getting more value for my money considering i know ill use and enjoy my picks. This makes me feel like theres much less chance for disappointment every month 🤣
Not only was my Ipsy bag the worst I’ve ever received in the 3 years I’ve been getting it out of nowhere they changed my profile and started sending like 2 blonde products I am have always been brunette. It took 3 days a 4 bot conversation for them to agree to send me a replacement. I’m pretty much done. You are right the product have gone way down hill..
For three years, we got boxy charm for our daughters for Christmas. After receiving their first boxes after the merge, they decided to cancel. The products and value were so disappointing. In the boxy charm box the advantage value was 180 or higher. The ipsy box barley hit 100.

The new perks is being able to choose 3 items out of the 5, which I like but we will see if the choices given to us will continue to be nice. I got two fenty products to choose and Drunk elephant blush and a Natasha Denona . The only choice I was like meh was my eyeshadow primer that I chose.

I have “boxycharm” and I didn’t get any of those as an option. There were zero eyeshadows in my choices and they had 4-5 available
Being able to pick 3 items has always been that way for ipsy plus members. Calling it some new perk is deceiving towards boxy subscribers because you didn't know any different. I understand that it's new and exciting for some, but it's how ipsy has always done things. There are no new "perks" for existing ipsy members, everything is exactly the same. They hyped up this merge for absolutely nothing and has been more disappointing than anything.
Ipsy plus wasn’t available in Canada, which is where I am from. It came like months before the merge. I was lucky to get nice picks i guess. I got two pallettes ( the fenty for choice and the ND one that was picked for me.
@@Halalbeautie Your choices are customized to you so make sure you do your product reviews, it also depend on when you log in to pick your items. Fun fact! If you don’t like your set of items to pick from wait a little while and check back in, there will be a new set to choose from!

I agree with you Alexandria they are so disappointing and it makes me furious that even in the points they are dumping refreshments and when contacting them they say they are working hard on adding items we got the exact same glam bag and I had picked the sponges and I agree they are supper tiny can't see where they got the $70 value from
Yes to the "Use to be Well Known Brands" question, absolutely! I subscribed to the Allure Beauty Box for years, then they stopped sending me Marc Jacobs and Sunday Riley and started sending cheap repeats, tiny store-website-only brands, poor quality products, etc WHILE raising their prices. I get inflation is a killer but it's so disappointing and definitely has kept me away from resubbing. Big sad.
Allure is still one of the better ones but they definitely did change half the stuff is sample sizes now. I got a box a few months ago and 2 of the items were one time use sample sizes that I can get for free.
I preferred the Boxycharm shop to the Ipsy one. Boxycharm had reviews that were really helpful for me. However I first got a Boxycharm that didn’t contain my two add Ons or the products I picked. However I ended up receiving a whole other box with the correct products and addd Ons so I got double boxes this month! Can’t complain about that!
I do think the beauty boost is worth it bc so far we've gotten brands such as Drunk Elephant, Too Faced, Ole Henriksen and the item has had a retail value of around $60. It's just a guaranteed high end item worth a MINIMUM of $40 for $15, so honestly that's worth it to me. June's beauty boost is supposed to be the Natasha Denona Retro Glam palette, which is a very new palette of hers. I'm excited for that one.
I actually still enjoy the Boxycharm I got after the merge. I enjoyed being able to pick the products that I received in my box. That makes it more worth it to me. I only have the boxy base box so I don’t notice much of a difference, other than being able to choose some of my products, which I like. There’s still really good products. I liked everything I got in my April boxy box.
Well maybe they gave the good stuff to the former Charmers😮
I have been in for a year and a half almost and still feel like this has boosted my beauty regime and helping me try new things. I just enjoy it, to me it’s worth it. Except they used to send little baggies with the items but not anymore, but oh well im paying for the fun box of products. Glad you still enjoy yours too!
If you previously got Boxycharm Premium, you were defaulted to Beauty Boost. While $15 isn't a "deal" it's less than what you used to pay for Base and Premium, per month... And less waste.
I was so annoyed with my April box (whatever used to be Glam Bag Plus). Missing items, crushed palette. Customer service offered me $12.50 in refunds. Even though my box was “supposedly” worth $210, sooo….
I don't really see any difference after these boxes have merged to the same company. Ipsy is still a bag with smaller products. Boxycharm is still a larger box with full sized products. Yeah the brands used to be a little better but it's the same otherwise. I don't see any trick or deception here. You can also now pick three custom items for your Boxycharm, which I love. I just didn't seem like a difficult or confusing transition to me 🤷♀️
you can re-press powder products really easily, you don't need to throw them away
The only concerning part was that it looked like the mirror was also broken so there may be tiny shards of glass
@@kristystout741 ah, i didn't notice that - but i have noticed alex say she's going to toss broken eyeshadows and stuff several times before, with or without a mirror in the palette/compact
"oh it's broken i'll throw it away" when an eyeshadow is like, in two pieces with some extra just loose
but yeah if there is glass broken, then definitely toss it because that's not safe
I paid for mine in MARCH! I never got April’s box, nor am I seeing me getting this one! I am livid because I paid for it!
The broken powder if you don't want to reset it, just put it in a jar, Juvias Place powder highlights are loose and in a jar. I canceled Boxy shortly after IPSY bought them, at the monthly or quarterly sale they offered a skin care surprise box for $40, and said it contained 7 popular products, it was 1 full size and 6 small tubes of 0.2-0.3 oz. There was such an uproar they ended up giving everyone a refund on them but that was when I saw the writing on the wall and quit.
They only created the beauty boost to deal with the fact that there were yearly subscribers in Boxycharm Premium. I was wondering about it until I realized that is what they turned premium into.
I miss boxy charm, way better and the are definitely increasing their prices on sale items. This is getting to the point none of its worth it anymore

My boxycharm came in with no padding at all! Not even a squiggle of paper! I'm glad all of my products were like skincare and stuff but when I picked it up, I felt everything shift around and thought "oh no..." They forgot one of my products so when I emailed IPSY I brought up the lack of padding just to be sure they knew.
I did enjoy the myriad of ways you said "Beauty Boost" 😂 Very relatable 😏 That's tough to say!
Mini sponges are great for under the eyes. Actually lost my favorite tiny little sponge, can't find one that was of similar size. But honestly, great for under eyes and even highlighter, cause you want it in a specific area, and the bigger ones for me make it harder to control.

We used to get Tarte cosmetics, high end brands like that. The one thing I liked about the former boxycharms was when you had the option on their shop to buy all sorts of high end products at a discount price etc. I cancelled them a long time ago. I miss when they used to be good. 😭
I'm getting May's box then cancelling. Some of the newer products are interesting but I feel like I'd find them on my own. I feel like the majority are a bunch of Ipsy private label bs.

Supposedly there will be new outer packaging/boxes for each of the tiers/boxes but they either aren’t in yet or they were trying to use up as many of the old packaging as they can before the switch happens.
Also, the beauty boost started in December, on the IPSY glam bag plus I think. I remember that it was a FENTY face palette in January, a $65-$70 full sized Drunk Elephant product in February, and a Too Faced eyeshadow palette in March. In March they also announced that they would assign you your beauty boost item but also give you the option to swap it for another item on choice day out of a couple of items if you didn’t want that months pick, or wanted one of the other items more. IMO, between what they chose as the beauty boost products and then them adding the ability to swap it for something else if you didn’t like it, it made the $15 worth it. But again, that’s just in my opinion.
So if you got the BoxyCharm Premium box which I’m pretty sure you did then it was changed to the BoxyCharm plus Beauty Boost and you do get to choose that product. My box this month had a retail value of $346 so not bad for what I paid and I actually will use almost all of the products. We will see how this goes but so far I’m pleased.
I have actually realized since I posted this and did choice on the 2nd that I believe the Beauty Boost is offered to everyone not just Premium subscribers. They will choose an item for you automatically and you can either uncheck that item and not get one or choose one of the others yourself. It is an extra $12 for the product but there’s no way to remove it from your account because you just have to unchoose the product. I hope this makes sense. It’s kind of hard to explain, and it clearly has not been explained well so far.

I get beauty boost. During the choice window you can actually keep your curated pick or switch it out for a few other options.
The beauty boost is pretty much the same as Premium but with a new name since people were already paying close to $45 for 6 products back then so it’s always been a bad deal being we paid $30 for 5 items with base. Also I heard Premium now Icon originally started because they had products too big to fit in the base box, so they got a bigger box and added one hero item and charged more for it.

I totally agree! I loved boxycharm but I can already tell that we are limited in the products that we had options to before. We use to have way better descriptions with boxycharm and the ad ons were awesome. You use to save alot more money. Now ipsy is just back into the picture to save their clientele and wiped out the higher end brands where we use to get awesome deals.
Though i signed up today I literally am going to cancel most likely.

I was getting sick of all the minis with Ipsy and stuck around for the add ons. I made the obvious switch to Glam Plus before it switched to Boxy. So far I haven't been overwhelmed nor disappointed. It's still all about the add ons and shopping deals 😆
Yep I only get bags about every 3 months when they have something I really want, and usually just shop flash and the sales.

All moan about the contents of the box on camera when they made little or no effort to get a good bag for themselves.
I have found this month very frustrating watch content creators spouting misinformation when they’re the ones who made the mistakes. 🤷🏽♀️

Exactly. I cancelled, with my last Boxycharm Lux coming in Dec 2021, bcuz I actually couldn’t store 1 more product, and Ipsy a few months before that. At the time, the products and value were Great. I had been getting Boxy since their 2nd box, but they now seem like a bunch of junk. 😔
I've canceled mine too! It was not a smart business move. I've been getting charged 4x in a month since they got the boxycharm under their name. I canceled it all. I had high hopes too! I got charged for 8 boxes in 2 months and got 1 box for 2 months lol made me so mad! You aren't the only one honey! I'm sure they lost alot of business.
The terrible is the lack of protective shipping now. Powdered product s have been destroyed for me ie highlighters, eyeshadows

I finally got rid if all my boxes except for the Allure Beauty Box, it’s like $27 total with shipping included. It has a lot of high end and full size products and always contains some makeup, often Eyeshadow Palettes, maybe it’s one you could get and really enjoy and get the value that boxes should have.
I really like my Allure box each month. I think it’s more skincare then makeup (at least in mine), but that is what I personally prefer 😊

Careful with allure tho, when I tried to cancel mine I had to cancel my debit card because allure kept charging me and when I called customer service they said there wasn't even anyone registered in my zip code that was subscribed to their box, but kept charging me.

I got a great box this month. What I like now it is that you can choose the product you get (at least three of the them), the other two are picked by Ipsy. Hope you get a better box next month. Will love to see a video of you selecting the products for next month and your thoughts. Great weekend to all!!
Well considering you pick your beauty boost it’s worth more than 40. I picked mine worth 90 this month. You don’t seem to pick any items so you are missing out. You won’t get a card because of the variations made when picking your items. Maybe if spending so much pick your items? Maybe pause your bag so you don’t receive it? Then you’d have no video. Your premium box converted to box plus boost. You could’ve had different better boxes if you made picks.

@@hotpinkcrayolas I watch her every time she posts and this video was complaining that could be avoided. I get it if you had no say in things you got but you can make choices, check you accounts and see if and what you are signed up for. You can even skip if you don’t want the box a month so to complain so much wasn’t needed.
If you pour alcohol on that powder highlight and tap it down with a spatula you can probably save it.
Let Ipsy know about the crushed KAB highlighter. You’ll either get a replacement sent and or $6 refund and or 600 points
I like the beauty boost. It's like you get another choice making it 4 instead of 3 and the items can be worth way more than $40 like for instance I picked a facial lotion worth $95 (I would never!) I like that you get to unchoose what they chose and pick out of some other products. The face cream I'm getting isn't what they chose. They chose some Jlo eye cream 😒 My biggest issue with them right now is I haven't gotten my box and it's not scheduled to be here till the last day of the month. 😒😒😒
I stopped getting boxycharm a year ago ... I like getting skin care and I don't use a lot of make up but skin care last a long time so when I was getting new skin care every month it left a lot of unopen skin care, so I think it was time to take a break I cannot even imagine how much product you have!
Or how you decide what you want to use !! I think that's why I like sample sizes because you can get through the whole thing and possibly find a new product that you like...
