  • This is my home-made mini baler. I built it a few years ago. It makes a 5" x 7" x 14" bale of hay, grass, alfalfa, or straw. I got it out of storage today and am making bales for the county fair which is next week. I can use it as a hay baler or as a hay press (stationary). I don't have detailed plans for this-I just built it as I went along.

Very cool sir! Looks to work well for ya, did a good job building it, also happy to say that I'm here Early, I've been catching on to these mini baler videos, once there 5-12 years old they get a bunch of views, lol. Hey great job.
Do you keep them or sell them? My friend has a little wooden hand one that we do, tried to sell a few but we didn't have any luck (granted we didn't put much work into trying to sell them, we just posted on craigslist to see if any interest)

Thanks for the comment. I do sell the bales for decorations in the fall, and they sell well, or are selling quickly this year.

That's cool. I wonder if anyone has made a mini knotter.

I need a baler that will do what your mini baler does, but I need it to be full size and capable of baling mini bales at the same rate as it would bale regular bales. Wondering if a full-sized baler could be modified with a multi-channel chute to process mini bales at a speed comparable to a regular baler?

Most of the balers can be adjusted to make a very small bale. The problem is, you’re using way more twine than you need to when you do that. So…grandpa used to actually make them slightly longer! To save twine. Plus it built character

Not to be personal but how much did this cost you to build I want to build one similar to this to go to my John Deere 40 and maybe hook into a PTO and I wanted to know what my budget should look like. Looks great by the way! Great build sir!

Why don't you use the hay pick up to feed the hay into the chamber?

Do you know anyone that makes one of these for sale? Was looking to buy one for hobbyists in the area and for fair kids to have something easier to move. Would you consider making one of these and selling it?
