I'm so very proud of Rita! A tiny bit of tough love will pay off in the end Lester...it should only be needed at first (she knows how to push your buttons & what works lol) but after a couple of times, like you've seen with Krandal, she's smart & wants to please, it will all come together for you both ❤

Actually that's what stallions do when one of their mares is away from them. Even though he's a gelding, it's in his makeup. They get very angry and afraid for their mare. He is very distressed.
Rita can sense that her rider isn’t afraid of her and she’s respecting that her rider knows what they are doing. I’m thinking Rita will learn to love the sense of getting along and carrying her human! Is there a chance Roman would like to be ridden as well.
To see Rita, do a little bit of a faster pace was exciting. Crandall did really really well. Rita just has a little bit of a stubborn streak.🧡 but we love her just the way she is

Sorry, but I use spurs. For just the reason Crandall said. Ppl use them for pressure to move forward or back or sideways. All U have to do is tap tap tap. Not gouging. Otherwise my mare would do like Rita, just stand there. All I do is trail ride anymore b/c I’m 74. Been riding my mare for 18yrs, she’s 24, and was a former barrel racer.
So proud of Rita!! Lester she was proud showing her daddy what she has learned & how she can be such a good girl! You can tell the time you have invested with her is paying off. ❤

I think because Rita feels like you are stealing a ride from her. It’s better to make it her idea that is why the groundwork is so important, when she sees you as a leader she can trust, she will understand the lead rope means something and eventually that transfers to the rein. When riding in the saddle it is the same directions as the groundwork. Rita needs to know it is about moving her feet. Don’t look her in the eyes when training, look at her feet. I think she is so smart & once she makes the connection it will be her idea to let you ride when the cues are there. She will respect your space. What fun to see her learn and enjoy giving you rides. 👏👏♥️
Hi to hello Lester. That was lovely to watch as I have watched Rita’s journey since she was first tied to the fence post at Plum Grove. She is turning into a beautiful lady and come so far in your care. She looked like she was thoroughly enjoying herself with Roman cheering her on. She has become her daddy’s girl considering you were a little unsure of her at first. Time, patience and love have been the medicine she needed. Xx

So nice to see Marci and Crandall again and it was funny seeing Rita stomp her feet every time Crandall tried to cinch her up tighter ! Roman was very concerned and pacing the fence worried about his girl. Rita looked amazing all saddled up and being ridden.
Crandall did so well riding Rita. I am impressed with all the life experiences Crandall has to draw from. He knew all about coconuts and climbed a coconut tree when they were on their vacation cruise before coming to visit Lester and Jami. Both Marci and Crandall are wonderful people!!
