Hey good to see you guys!! I almost unsubscribed the other day because I thought maybe you guys stopped traveling or at least stopped vlogging. Good to see your smiling faces again.
Thanks Lance, yes lots coming in the future. We are now Lithium battery dealers, have true unlimited data plans and a bunch more + lots of travel videos to come. 2018/19 should be full of content! - Just need to get hitched in 3 weeks first!
Yes, we were grounded for a few months to get married but heading back on the road and MISSING IT and so glad we are going to be on the road in the next few weeks!
How is that UTP holding up under the sun? Unless it's in conduit, the coating will break down under UV, might need to replace it with outdoor/burial cat6 cable?
Congrats on the wedding. You guys seem like a perfect match. Keep the videos coming. I purchased a 2018 Aspire 44W after look at some of your videos of your rig.
wow ZeeNinja, thats so cool. We love the W floor plan and hope you are enjoying it! Thanks so much for the kind words. It really makes a difference when you put yourself out there! Hope to see you on the road some day!.
Nice video. At 8:44 are you dicoring a cable clip which was nailed/screwed into the roof? If the dealer did not install the cable through the roof would you have ran the cable through the fridge vent? Maybe electrical noise from the fridge would cause problems for the cables.
Fridge vent is a great solution for most trailers and rv's however our coach is all electric so we have a residential fridge and no vent for the propane fridge :( - We did run wires this way in our solar video we did for Erik's dad though located here if you want details on running wires though the fridge vent ua-cam.com/video/FJA8VcWQ7bo/v-deo.html
also yes we are applying dicor to a screw clip as that was already there from the dealer so we retained that screw/clip for our wire management since the hole was already there.
We did have an issue we are pretty sure thats because it got wet in the battery bay one day unfortunately. We replaced it and have been doing good, definitely not an Outback Flex grade solution but for the price it wasnt bad for an entry level MPPT. If I did it again i'd probably only do 3 panels as 4 in direct summer sun is pushing that controller beyond what it was designed for (using a 12v battery bank).
I noticed in video you haven’t put silicone on the screws of the box or around the seal i have installed lots of those boxes as an electrician after time I have went back for one reason or another and noticed water in the box you might consider silicone
thanks KD, these newer boxes have the screw heads on the outside of the rubber seals now, probably as a result of exactly what your thinking. I'll keep folks posted on how we do without sealing the screws. A big part of this is being able to easily open the box and add wires/service over time but we'll keep that in mind and let you know how the seals hold up in the sun over time. We picked up 2 spare boxes so we had replacement covers (and new seals) if we see signs of it failing.
I would have used outdoor rated / direct burial ethernet cable for the outdoor runs. The ultraviolet light will shorten the life of the cable tremendously.
Hi! That was outdoor rated but not burial rated as that wouldn’t fit in the WiFi Ranger housing but regardless i completely agree on using outdoor cable and burial rated if you can make it fit.
I've seen other guys use double sided eternabond to hold down junction boxes. You'd likely never get the box off again but you sure wouldn't have any concerns about it moving.
This is a really great Idea. You can get the "stepper bits at Harbor Freight too, the dielectric grease is a super smart idea also. Love your videos keep them coming
Completely overkill for these short hops. CAt6, yes. Even Cat5e would be fine for gb. 35+ years experience here. He isn't building an enterprise server rack haha. Also mod Cat6 couplers and two male end built cord ends might make for a cleaner inside the box connection vs the keystone/other jack. But all in all he did great.

Long time, no peek a boo!!!!! Loved your latest video. I have used that type of box inside my RV too! Thanks for sharing!!
thanks Dino! Yea we've been away for a while but lots coming soon!
Very informative video thanks! I plan on putting solar on our RIG when we get it next month and this will help. Love your channel : ).
How are things going you two still enjoying life on the road.

Hello and thanks 4 post. Very helpful! Is the top of the housing box water right. I’m running satellite cable on roof of Ram Promaster. Thanks again!

Not sure if you made a video yet but can you go over your tire covers please cost and where to buy and size
Thanks

Nice install on Erik's dad's RV. Have there been any problems with the $200 charge controller?

Great idea! We never can seem to make up our mind and keep changing things but this is a great idea for a perm install.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
thanks Allen, only about 2 weeks to go!
How do you determine where to install the box on the roof?
💜
This is a really great Idea.

Love your videos keep them coming
thanks Donald! We will, about 10 filmed that we havent had a chance to edit due to the wedding but they are coming soon!
You should use CAT7 wire. Much better for data and fast internet

I thought u were gonna use grommets or bulkheads to tidy up the sealant mess. Still looks pretty messy your way.
Do you have a link for thew stepper bit?
yup, its in the full article but here is a direct link to a nice set that i have bought in the past that has great reviews. amzn.to/2zr1xIh
finally someone does this cheap and realistically like i did. i bet your entire system is modular as well.
very modular, some because it works better and some pieces because we purchased over time :) - Thanks for checking in!
Next video - bigger box with 12 volt, 120 volts, and an ethernet switch inside with POE.
I wish I wasn't afraid of heights so I could do this myself 😭
That looks a messy
