You’re quite a character, real likable type of fella. Do you ever think about making a commercial you’d be good at that
Lol...I would love to do that👍👍
smooth shave, I tried the feather and cut myself but very close shave. I'll persist with these ( I better because I bought a 100 pack 😂)
Punjabi Indian Feathers are a little too sharp for me👍💈
One of the nicest gentlemen on UA-cam. God Bless.
Julian Thank you👍💈
Great shave!
Adventures In Wet Shaving Thank you 👍
You're a brave man Ken!~
George Friesen Thanks George👍👍
Liked and subscribed.
Thank you
New DE shaver here.... with Muhle R89, Simpson big brush, Proraso pre shave and cream, Omega alum stick, Feather blades, and a bottle of Clubman... no blood
Great video Ken! And no cuts!
Jeff Barnett Thanks Jeff👍👍
Great video Ken! Feathers are super sharp - the overall result does depend on the combination with the razor you pair them with though! In an aggressive razor - its a Texas Chainsaw Massacre LOL
Tony McGirr I agree 100%. Thanks Tony👍👍
so..... I'm kind of new to the whole wet shave thing. But I always seem to get a nick or two on the old mug . But you do a great job of describing everything and showing us what the product is. I would like if you would say maybe where you get the stuff from and how to get the cool bowl you have . Thanks for the nice shave video and keep on shaven on !!!
You made it without a cut from the infamous feather 👍
Shaving With Rich I am amazed👍
I use a Feather as d2 with these same razors. I almost never knick myself. Almost. Dang things are sharp as heck! Thinking of a Merkur 33c with a moderate aggression for future use with a blade that doesn't penalize. The AS-D2 just doesn't get close enough for me. Even with that feather blade. I'll eventually get the right razor/blade combo.
Great video buddy feather blades to sharp for me I like derby and Dorco
Melvin Morales Me too, to be honest👍👍
Got the black beauty Ken and it's amazing love the razor ! I went with tabac , feather blade , followed by lucky tiger then some American blend Fine aftershave then Clinique post healer balm amazing shave thanks again Ken !
anthonycentoni You are more than welcome. What setting did you have it on?
I had a days growth and put it on setting 7. I started out on 3 as it looks like what you used it at but I normally shave with the future at a setting 3 which is about the same as a 7 on the beauty. for me the more aggressive the lighter touch I use which keeps the irritation away , on the flip side the less aggressive the heavier my hand seems to get and then things get all messed up.
Jason Centoni Cool Jason, thanks👍👍
I'm new to wet shaving and I used a feather blade in my AS-D2 for the first time this morning. Face shave and head shave with only two small nicks. One of those nicks (on the back of my head) was from trying a different blade 3 days ago. That was the results of a fresh Perma Sharp blade. It was a blood bath. Yesterday, I used a Personna Prep. Nice! My first time shaving my head I used an Astra. I wussed out and used my Rex Ambassador dialed down to 1.5. Those were good shaves but nothing like I get from the Personna Prep's. The feather blade was OK but for the money I'll stick with Personna Prep's and Personna 'Comfort Coated'. Not only do the Personna's give really nice shaves, they also are Made In The U.S.A.
I'll keep working on my technique and maybe I can use the Astra's full time (they are considerably less expensive, $0.08 vs $0.35.
A feather blade, is dang sharp. The best way to approach using one, is to have a few years of DE shaving technique built up. A light touch and smooth strokes are the key. As well as a good prep before your shave. I use a Bigfoot Shaves Razor and either a Lord or a Feather blade.
Great shave Ken. Love that Wolf Whiskers brush. What's the best place to find one for sale? Thanks.

very nice man.
Stephen Davidson Thank you Stephen👍👍
yeah the Feathers are okay just seemed to have a bit of a harsh post shave.
Stephen Davidson 👍👍
thanks ken. one day i might just try the feather on my 34c. for now they're are nicely tamed in my AS-D2. i do like your scents from around the 70s-80s. brings back memories. have you tried Polo (green bottle)?
luis gonzalez Yes, I even did a video on polo green👍💈
Thanks for the video. Feather blades tend to irritate the heck out of my neck.
As unlikely as it may seem, I like Feather blades in my Merkur 34C slant bar.
I don't know what kind of mojo happens, but they work for me in that razor.
As far as Japanese blades go, I find the Kai blades to be just as sharp, but much smoother.
The Spectre So far the Feathers seem to be the sharpest I've ever tried and I had to shave with real caution this time. I like not having to worry about cutting myself.. lol👍👍
I also put a Feather in my 1970 long handled black beauty (set to number 3)for my Sunday shave. I am not a big fan as they are sharp but not smooth at all. My go to blade is the Gillette Silver Blue. No cuts though. I have a tendency to nick in the same spot on the neck that you do but the opposite side. What I do now in order to avoid the nick is not to come straight down with the razor to the base of the neck. I come down straight until I am adjacent to the Adams Apple and turn the razor slightly to the out side of the neck. I do that on both sides and this eliminated the nicking for me. Your mileage may vary....
Rick C 👍👍
Good video as always Ken. Try that Feather blade with either a Fatboy or Slim Adjustable on setting 3. Very comfortable and very close shave.
Tim Omick Thanks Tim, I prefer that setting #3👍👍
Lol yeah me tried with 34c too. My middle aged skin is pretty leathery these days but boy I did knik it few times. Also, had bito rash last shave but no kniks thank gawd.. yep v. Sharp blades. Gotta go careful I think. Overall think I prefer Summink a bit less aggressive but I'll have to get use to as I've 9 blades left. No waste hey !!!
gazza listermint 👍👍👍💈💈💈
I have a thick, coarse beard. So it works wonderfully for me. I’ve only nicked myself the first time.
At my first DB shaves ever i thought i made a big mistake wanting to shave like this. Blood every time and sometimes lots of it. But they i learned how to do it. Feather blades are the best
Nice shave
Albert Castro Thank you
Great video, Ken.
Last time I used a Feather blade, I cut myself about 3 times. They are a little too sharp to me so I don't shave with them very often.
My favorite blades are Voskhod and Personna Platinum Chrome. Have you tried the Personna Platinum Chrome blades? They are not very sharp but definitely one of the smoothest blades I have ever tried.
Andreas Toft My first experience was similar. I too prefer the milder blades. I did get a great shave this time though👍👍
You did a great job! You should definitely try the Personna Platinum Chromes if you haven't already (I don't think I have seen them in any of your videos). I would be very interested in hearing your opinion about them. They come in a blue pack with red writing and are from Israel. One thing I also like about Personna blades is that they don't have any wax on them!
Andreas Toft Cool I'll have to give them a try👍👍
nice shave Ken. Enjoy those Russian blades. Voshkods have always been my go to.... But I just ordered 100 ladas because I was very impressed with them
Dan Mastronardi Thanks Dan👍👍
Thanks for the great reviews. I went out and purchased my first Safety Razor. The Merkur 34C. I added the Feather blades to my order. But now I am a little nervous. Maybe Feather blades were not a good choice for my first Safety Razor blade.. What's your thoughts?
Bryan L be real careful with the feather blades . They are a little Sharp for me but some people love them. Let me know what you think after your shave 👍💈
How did it turn out? I just bought my first safety razor with some feather blades. Kinda worried now lol
Today you have a T-shirt like a member of the Ukrainian national team.) By the color of the national flag.)) Yellow and blue. No nicks and cuts. My congratulation.) Also nice and bright TAA towel. I like it.)
Good one man. The first time i used feathers they just shredded me but tried them again recently and now i love them. I'm only about two months into wet shaving. I'm finding it's mostly about pairing the right razor with the right blade. I currently have an edwin jagger de89 and a west coast shaving midnight collection open comb razor with a much heavier handle. I bought a 100 pack of personna blues and a variety pack of blades. The personnas are alright over all but some of the other blades work better depending on the razor. The feathers work great in my edwin jagger. Great videos man, they're teaching me a lot.
venetianmetalhead Thank you very much👍👍💈💈
voskhod very good blade I have a pack of 100 pcs , , today I used feather ( I bought a pack of 50 pcs ), very sharp , but not so sharp as I expected , I used the blade in my merkur futur at level 2. , both blades are great , can do with voskhod around 3 to 4 shaves , hoping to do more than 4 with the feather , how is yr family doing with covid , since I understood that covid did affect yr family, hoping everthing is ok , greetings from mexico , also nice and holly christmas , feliz navidad para toda su familia , robert ( in dutch since I am from belgium : zalig kerstfeest en gelukking nieuwjaar voor gans uwe familie )
👍👍👍👍👍
Buenos días Ken, where can I find one of those scuttles? Keep up the "good shaving"!
Carlos M. Rivera-Velazquez

Feathers are very sharp. Best for tough Mediterranean beards. They also benefit from a good tallow based soap like Cella and a very, very light touch. Almost no pressure.
I have a box of Feather Blades and maybe I'll load one into a mild Gillette non-adjustable like my 1958 Super Speed Flair-tip.
You're a braver soul than I Gunga Din!
Love that Proraso Green good stuff, great video Ken.
ML Greenspan Thanks👍👍💈
Great video, I have a friend who loves feather, but hates the first shave so he uses a cork to dull it, I just don't get it. Why not just use a blade a bit duller to start with. Anyway, I guess we all have our favorites and that's the cool part of the hobby. You will
Love the iPhone 7 plus. I was lucky enough to get mine On release day and am glad I did. Great phone.
WisconsinPiper You are lucky. Mine ships in 2-3 weeks. I hear the dual lens camera is better in low light👍👍
man I love the feather blades. even as a new wet shaver, I have never cut myself. every face is different though. great video once again Ken!
DH Dallas thank you sir👍👍💈💈
Have to try myself too I am new to wet shaving too just started today and loved it but shaved with a Wilkinson original sword
You are really wizard....
@@milosradulovic9627 just dont put any pressure and lather up good
Ken, can you tell me if you notice a difference between the Merkur 34c and the 23c aka 180? I have the latter and have read some conflicting reports on how those two compare...
Dave I use both, the only difference I see is the longer handle of the 180. 34C is a 2 piece razor and my 180 is a 3 piece.
👍Great Shave Nice Video👍Ken
MARCOS JESUS MENDEZ Thanks Marcos👍
I've just got some of these.Very close shave. Don't have a problem with cuts. Just a very close shave
Dave Ind just go slow 👍👍💈
Yep Ken the Feathers are real sharp and I find they are better after the first shave with them. My go to blade right now are the Rapira LUX blades and again better after the first shave with them - they are rated one star behind Feather. But I have to tell you you wash dishes in a sink and shave and wash yourself in a wash basin - sorry me being pedantic as I did plumbing way back and that how we had it set out in the UK.
Ken you wash dishes in a sink you shave using a bathroom basin LOL!! Having said that Feathers and Rapira LUX are my favourite blades in a Muhle R89 - try one because I have very old and sensitive skin too. .
Nice one Ken, I suppose you'll be looking for something more dangerous to try now 😌👍
Dave C Lol, I think this is the sharpest blade I've used. In a Muhle R41 that would be dangerous👍
They are unforgiving Feather Blades...they are great quality top notch the only thing is it’s a blood bath using them..
Alan H 👍👍💈
Hey Ken! Big fan and enjoy your videos! Can you or anyone on here tell me what is the difference between the feather blades in the yellow packaging vs those in the gray and black packaging?
Ken... I have since went online and contacted Feather in Japan directly via email and they very promptly hit me back with the answer to my feather blade question. My original question asked if there is a difference between the feather blades in the yellow packaging versus those in the black and gray packaging. Here is the email response straight from Feather. I hope you and your audience find this information beneficial! -Jim from Louisiana

I'm using Feather blades with my 1958 non adjustable Gillette Fat Boy. First time i ever used a DE safety razor with that blade I got bad razor burn and cut the sides of my neck good. Was more gentle with my second shave this Monday and had less cuts. Bought sampler pack of 10 Astra Stainless and Platinum DE blades to see if those don't cut me up.
PearlJammer07 Feathers are too sharp in most razors for me 👍💈
Hows my favourite youtuber doing ? anyway , thanks for the call out ken , see - a true professional , you managed the feather without a nick - awesome stuff matey . Its funny the 34c is one of those razor , that seems mild - but the blade can determine its aggressiveness . Like i say , i tried a feather in my goto att s1 - but only this weekend , after a second use - it was the worse shave i have had since i started wet shaving , just a dull shave in general , lots of missed whiskers - to top it all it was for a job interview.. ( i really dont like feather blades for me they are over hyped ) .... go figure . Your wife's choice on the bowl works for me , reckon cherry blossom would look good on a bowl to be honest . Hows the mustang ?? Take care buddy .
Technically Brilliant Got the 2 front wheel cylinders installed and the new front brake shoes. Next it's the master cylinder replaced. Probably do that one next weekend👍 My back hurts though..lol
i got a guy looking at my focus this week , isn't gonna cost me a dime .... but ill give him something anyway . - yeah working on cars can move parts that where supple once , but are getting alittle stiff . :O)
Nice shave Ken and not one nick. I`ve been meaning to get some more Feathers myself but at twice the price of most other blades well......I`ll probably sucomb eventually. lol Have to say those Dorco Prime Platinum are a pretty good blade. Thanks
Brian B. Thanks Brian, I use the Dorcos and Wilkinson Swords quite a bit👍
Are you able to link us to that Russian DE Blade sample pack? I'd really appreciate it.

Nice video. As long as i am drawing blood with Timor and Bolzano as a beginner..i am staying faaaaar away from feather :p
👍👍💈💈
Ken, have you tried any products from Stirling Soaps? They have killer shave soaps, balms, and splashes in about a million scents. I know you probably don't have enough stuff already. 😊
Ronnie I use the Stirling Ozark Mountain soap. My wife got it for me and loves the scent👍👍
I used feather blade for the first time recently, used a nice coconut Soap, prepped properly, and they cut my face up pretty good, especially on my neck and chin, but the pro was I had no stubble for 3 days

@@kensurfs I'm a Brit but supported the Rams since 1987 when I went to LA and the Raiders were too obvious. We Brits love an underdog
I have very sensitive skin and unfortunately extremely course facial hair. I have to use my muhle r41 with feathers that way I use very light pressure with minimum passes to get a damn near baby smooth shave.
Hi, is the smaller Simpson's brush behind you the 'wee scot'? Did they produce it with the logo instead of the signature? Thx
I wonder how the feather will work in Rockwell 🪒 razor. Would like to see that one ☝️
Albert Castro 👍👍
For me….the Feather blade works great in my 6C on plate R3. You have to be careful, not hurry, and respect it’s sharpness. Gives a beautiful BBS shave…and 6+ shaves per blade. It definitely is more of a challenge than shaving zip-zop with one of my trusty “Voshkie” blades.
I have not had any luck with Feathers either...used one pack and threw the other out! My best blades are KAI, followed by Gillette Silver Blue. Astra SP and Voskhod aren't bad either. Polsilver and BIC Chrome are the worst ever...the Bic was like shaving with a wood rasp. :o
SGBass I really prefer the milder blades too, less chance of slicing my face lol
There is a single line and a double line at the top and bottom of the razor.. Is that for identifying the side??
Brand new to this safety razor word. Just bought a Gillette super speed 40s style. What’s the best blades to use? I’ve never shaved with a safety razor, beginner.
Astra Green or Wilkinson Sword Gillette from India. They worked great for me
Kensurfs Here.
While Using my Henson aggressive & medium razors I’ve never cut my face with a Feather blade…. With my Muhle R89 Twist & feather blade, I got the most cuts ever, about 6…. I don’t think the blade causes the cuts and nicks, it’s more the razor & technique. The Henson Razors are the most forgiving and provide probably the best shaves in my opinion
👍💈💈
Henson are super safe but are not as close as other top brands. Feather blades are like a Ferrari and require self control.
the reason why you cut yr face is that with feather blades you should first start with a level 1 or 2 , so with mild razors , greetings robert
👍👍
I finally got my feather blades they work great but I did cut myself alittle bit anyway you sound like Steve Buscemi hes an actor..
Кен! Сколько у Вас всего бритвенных станков?
i suscribe to your channel, what a great reviews videos do you have, keep the good job, i have two months with DE razors, and just start with this feather blades about a week, i dont know what to think, maybe the blades are not for me, or maybe is my technique...
Carlos Argueta These blades are much too sharp for me. I prefer a milder blade such as a personna or Wilkinson Sword/Gillette
thanks Ken, i have some Gillete from Brazil, and overall are good ones
Feather blades are good, but unforgiving. Nothing else shaves me closer, even after the first pass the shave feels pretty smooth.
KingofWisdom There are super sharp that's for sure 👍
This is so strange, I use Feather blades in my 1920s Gillette open comb and have no issues. My friend Joe tried them in his Rockwell 6s with a #4 plate and cut himself all to heck and back. Strange.
The feathers,...... i always cork them before first use 😉
Thomas A. Thanks a smart move👍👍
What does that mean ? Please tell me I have recently discovered this world an switched to it ever since gillettes new world order feminization attempt of the nation propoganda .
@@kingyeayea397 Running the blade edge across a cork before using. This essentially takes the "roughness" out of the blade or takes the edge down...
@@toyotaracing5578 like u mean helps u cut urself less? An ur talking about a wine bottle cork ??
I use them now and they are godlike sharp I don know anything about this cork thing...?
Have not tried Feather blades. Maybe one day...
portydert portydert They are sharp👍👍
I have a grey barbed wire beard, so I use Feather or KAI blades. I prefer the Feather with "The Cube" preshave, and either TABAC or PAA. My razor is a Fatboy set at 4 first pass, and 2 second pass, using Alumn Block after a rinse. My Beard changed years ago and my Wilkonson Swords wasn't cutting it (no pun intended) unless a multiple passes with touchups. RAZOR BURN switched me to FEATHERS. NOT FOR BEGINNERS THESE BLADES !!!
Is it good for sensitive skin?
i get nicked from time to time with feather blades but then again i load them in a 56 gillette red tip pretty agressive razor i guess
gpb Holy cow, an aggressive razor with an aggressive blade. You are daring👍👍💈💈
The only DE I can use a feather in without looking like I went toe to toe with a Ninja is my PAA DOC, that razor keeps the Feather at bay and I'll get at least 5 shaves out of that blade
Amando Cardenas 👍👍
As feather are sharp and precise they require the shaver to use control. Most people who use a feather lack self control and just fly on a head and are the type of person that should not drive a Ferrari.
👍👍
I bought a saftey razor last week and I have ony used it two times. First time with a merkur blade which was a total bloodbath. Second time around I used Feather and it was like night and day. Really nice blades, at least for me :)
No sunscreen?
ajay60610 Always I try to use it but sometimes...I forget 💈💈👍
Love that scuttle. Feather Blades? Yeah, I've got a couple of packs of them. I see videos and read Forum Posts about how "sharp, scary and dangerous" they are, and as a consequence, have yet to decide which razor will be the best choice to try one in. Voskhods and BIC Platinums are plenty sharp, so I don't know of any unforseen advantages to using a Feather. Maybe I'll wait until New Years' Day ...
If it's some REALLY SERIOUS burn you seek, then dissolve some menthol crystals in Vodka, then blend in a few drops of Neutrogena Post Shaving Balm. It'll moisturize your skin, while making you want to dress up the wife in her leathers, grab her whip, and ... well nevermind ....
Ken do you shave daily ?
anthonycentoni I try too but sometimes if too busy every other day👍👍
Gotcha now it makes sense why you don't go against the grain. After watching your videos I started doing a 2 pass clean up as I shave everyday and it has helped a lot with cutting down razor burn or any irritation. And honestly even when I go BBS there is not a big enough difference to justify the irritation you can easily get from going against the grain. Thanks for the help !
anthonycentoni Thank you 👍👍
Nice shave Ken but I am not using them . No way . Lol
Dev9172 These are way too sharp👍💈
Hell! Just two passes and you've got smooth cheeks like Sean Connery.
So - in the end: are the *Feathers* worth their money? Any difference compared to regular blades?
FreeSoftware Lol...Thank you👍💈
Aren't you supposed to do short strokes and not long passes as you would do with a cartridge razor?
Nick K Yes, but I use both so I kind of do a compromise but you are right👍💈
Hi Ken ! Have you ever tried the Feather popular razor ?
Aftershave is not a good idea after most shaves never mind after a feather shave... try a balm, completely different feeling and much better for your skin.
Yeah I'm using Bart's balms and lotions after. Superb. Also tried some nuage shave oil before Mitchell's shave soap. Then the feather comes into its own..silky smooth.
On the thread of being a little sharp I wonder if one could get more shaves out of a single blade. I usually take 3 or 4 no trouble with the other blades I have. Hmmmm not sure any views anyone ?
No feather blades for me.
aregua1 👍👍
The first time I used a feather blade it was with a shavette... That was a massacre... Then I tried it on a Feather Popular and didn't get a single cut, although I got irritation due to the sharpness of the blades.
Mario63M They are super sharp👍👍💈💈
TTO razors are not very kind to my neck. I believe this is due to blade chatter.
More that likely has to do with your skin and certain areas being easily irritated. Slow down in the sensitive areas and do very short strokes.
Don't get all Oakland raider on me lol
Eric Castillo I saw their new stadium in Vegas over the weekend. It’s coming along good👍👍
I'm black and I dare not! That's razor bump city for me. I can barely take Derby blades. I'm going to try Lord their blades get a one for sharpness
It happens to everybody. Just take it easy with control. Think of feather as a track Ferrari car.
@Art-is-craft for black people shaving with a razor is nearly impossible without getting a face full of razor bumps every time that's why we use electric clippers.
You should put more emphasis on hygiene. You should wash off the lathe much more carefully with water before drying your face with a towel.
Thank you
These blades are just too sharp for me. No nicks but I have terrible razor rash from them after
Bobby Coffey I agree👍💈
Yeah I did too last shave.
Same, on my face anyway but on my upper arms they're fine.
same for me. i almost gave up de shaving until i bought cheap gillette rubie from the local store and i realized that actually shaving can be pleasant.
try rubbing some coconut oil on your beard before lathering up. get the solid oil and melt an almond size dab in the palms of your hands and rub it in. the solid oil is better in my opinion because its a bit thicker. helps for me, give it a try!
Too much pressure pops...
💈💈
Worst shaving cream ever I’m sorry, highly recommend using a higher quality shaving soap, has 0 slickness after you do one pass and the worst and most dry post shave I have had in a long time. I would compare it to Gillette shaving cream. Just my opinion
If you draw blood, you're doing it wrong.
Feather blades are so bad .
