- When I made my video on War Thunder's upcoming battlepass reward vehicle, the M6A2E1 experimental American heavy tank, there were quite a few unhappy comments. A lot of people are confused as to why, in 2019, a bunch of German tanks were removed by Gaijin. These included the Panther II, Tiger II 10.5cm, Coelian, and Maus. It's said that they were all removed for being prototype vehicles, but this isn't the case, as I explain in the video.

If u think about it most things at the br it would likely be able to easily kill it like its armor wasnt accually that thick just use a apfsd shell and aim up to the back of the turret when shooting through the hull and blast its ammunition out of exsistance

When I hit an poorly angled T92 LT in the top of his turret facing upwards at me with a full caliber 122 MM AP HE shell and it kills his commander only? Nope. Done.
Proceeds to 1 tap my full health, angled IS-2 with a pathetic 76 MM.

After a year of play, I just quit the game. Pure free to play just isn’t fun, you get clubbed like a seal if you do too well because it puts you in higher skill level. I felt like I was being put in matches with people above my BR every single match. It resulted in me having to just play 2-3 matches straight where all I did was purposely die in the hopes of being put to an appropriate skill level, it didn’t help.

Not the best loadout I know, But how am I going to unlock the better vehicles and modifications for the T-44-100 If I don't play it? You're not, At least not at any reasonable rate..
So basically, spawn once in the T-44-100 7.0 in a 8.0 match, do the best you can, die and then proceed to spawn in your 6.7's and 6.3's to get farmed the rest of the game by 8.0's.

Well trapshotting isn’t a standard way of penning a tank but it’s true that the chances multiply when many people shoot at you
People did this with a L3/33 so whatever. Mouse definitely is not balanced at 7.7, but in a bad way. It really sucks to play it against ATGMs

The t95 has exploitable weak spots that the maus doesn’t (cupola, sides, engine deck)
Also the T95 is a casemate which means it doesn't have a turret unlike the maus.......

@@monticore1626 man stop clowning, cupolas on the T95 are not a weakspot, yea maybe you can kill the comander but are not wide enough to to activate the fuse so you lose 1 crew.
Exept the IS-3 every tank side is a weakspot.
The T95 can pivot at a decent speed, and the Maus has 6.5°/sec of turret rotation; basically a casemate.

I was fine when i was a new player, its when i got to higher tiers that it becane frustrating. Not seeing anything at range and just get 1 hit killed every time is what got me

@@slwgekte yes I really enjoyed low tier, but when I got to 3.3 with the US, I got uptiered every single game. And than I got to 3.7 and got full uptiered as well *15 TIMES IN A ROW* Only thing that keeps me playing is when I finally get my tier and get 11 kills or just playing low tier. Now I started playing great britann and it's rly fun :DDD

Honestly the Panther ll is a missing gap in Germany’s Medium tank line up. You jump from a 6.0 Panther to a 7.3 Leopard. With the Tigers it’s 5.3, 5.7, 6.3, 6.7
Yep, they could just go with the post-cancelation design. It would not hurt, as the Panther 2 was not some russian absolutely out of the world experimental mess, but a planned upgrade to an existing tank, and could easily be valanced ingame
@@bara555 how about the T-44-122? The tank destroyed itself during the test, because the gun was too big for the tank.. still in the game.
@@HowdyHartholz T-44-122 made it to testing, which means it wasn't paper. The gun breaking the turret falls under mechanical failures, like T28 catching fire because weak engine, Tiger II Hs having brittle hulls, KV-1s being mechanically unreliable, etc.

If the Maus is unplayable ? Why did Gaijin not use the same methode they use on the Ha-Go, FCM36 and H35 ? Being able to unlock the Maus after unlocking rank 6, so you are not forced to play it and have the choice to unlock it.
Would have make more sense than to just traight up remove the poor thing from the game ._.

@@MarketChange heay I remember, but even if they wanted to remove them entirely before the backlash.. they still saw that it was a solution that work ! Player were not force to play those vehicle and Gaijin could then make Japan and France rank 1 more playable. It was a win/win situation, so it's a bit weird they did not do the same for the Maus. Maybe they have very specific plans in mind for our chonky boi, who knows ? :3
Trust me, you don't want to play the Maus unless its for the lols. Everyone can pen you by shooting blindy while you have to a long ass time to aim at the softest spot and still wish to pen it.

There is a surviving hull but it's gutted.
US Forces captured it and found it empty. its currently awaiting for its museum to open up as its underconstruction. Also with it is a Jagdtiger and 2 Panthers, Ausf.A and Ausf.G
Panther II as depicted in wat thunder is a world of tanks fantasy with a gun that wont fit in the turret, i absolutly despise their take on it. Give it a 75mm and its fine
@@AttiliusRex the 75mm wasn’t actually much worse than the 88mm in reality, at least not at the ranges these tanks ended up fighting. The extra weight, width and ammo size for the 88 arguably wasn’t worth the effort over the long 75mm the panther mounted

Have you ever played against a ho ri production or prototype at 7.3. It really is strong in the armor but also both versions 100% fiction and still its in the game but Maus an all the other german fiction tanks have been removed

Gaijin also recently changed the suggestion rules for the forums for passed to developers.
Unfinished prototypes can now be suggested as long as the main components were built.
Maybe we will be able to see stuff like a KV3 or somethimng

What baffles me is that Gaijin removed the Maus with the excuse that "The vehicle never saw service" while selling the Obj. 120 as a premium that used to dominate 7.7 at the time of the Maus being removed.
When did they say that? The official announcement of the changes explicitly states it was for balance reasons.

I'm not sold. Gaijin has purposefully made the whole game more frustrating for money and I don't think one tank, that isn't even the worst one to balance, would be an issue for them for this reason, especially since it's amongst the most iconic vehicles ever built.
The game is a balance mess frankly, and the fact they pit world war 2 tanks against 1980's tanks who they would realistically have no chance at beating makes this very clear. They will add these tanks in as premium tanks later on down the road to make some cash. I dropped the game a while back and have no desire to return after they made night maps and had you in old tanks that can't use night vision against newer tanks that could not only see you long before you saw them but had guns/ammo that made your armor pointless at any angle. Fuck that.

@@taliawtf6944 hopefully they just completely reset it later. Tiers are done by timespans. Pre 1939, 1940-1941, 1942-1943, 1944-1945, 1945-1955, and a few more decade tiers for newer vehicles. Literally a perfect and logical fix

@@jamesmccann531 i know that, bk i have it along with other removed vehicles, even tho Gaijin used the term "hidden" most of the community (if not all) refers to them as removed, because they were "removed from the tech tree" and passed to the event/premium slots.
so dont come with that bs that "it wasnt removed", i just said it in the first comment simply so that i wouldn't have to make a huge phrase, kind of ironic actually.

I love how he complains about german tanks and players, even last vidio he said "all german players don't complain only one german tank and it's not the tiger.,, but he dose not talk about tanks such as the t28 or t95 wich I can't pen with a raketenjagdpanzer 2 or ss11 atgms from the front or how he complains about the HSTVL being to weak even though it can shoot fast enough already
My thing about the maus is this. It should have gotten the French treatment of "you have unlocked all tier 5 vehicles here is the maus for free just pay for the crew training and upgrades". To me this would solve "some" of the issue players were having of it being "impossible" to balance.

@@deezboyeed6764 but WOT grind is also way easier and you can access the tanks they advertise decently well, at least relative to war thunder. also balancing is easier to do. WOT can directly buff or nerf tanks and add absolutely fake ones to fill gaps rather than fumble around with repair costs and BR lowering/raising

The "balance" argument has always been an excuse for gaijin to slack off, we have >400mm pen HEAT rounds at 6.3/6.7 and without a ground only mode you always have the option of bombing the Maus
Throw in BR decompression and you could definitely find a spot for it where it still feels like a proper superheavy but isn't immune to all but air strikes
making it immune to tanks but vulnerable to planes is a bad idea

@@siko9799 even without it you could drop the BR, Mateus Stocki above us did a pretty good job describing why but tl;dr every nation has something that can frontally pen the Maus at a lower BR than it, some a significantly lower BR
If you consider flanking into the equation (considering how slow it is) even in a full downtier with a reduced BR you can kill it relatively easily
I played with a guy who had a maus last night. I helped push it 2000 meters to the battlefield only to watch it blow up from a single hit. I was very sad 😥
I have Maus and I can confirm that this happens... a lot. Drive, shot once, try to repair your barrel, get killed by APCR or HEAT or plane or missile. :D That's why I hardly ever try to use Maus.
Just use it on small city maps, with a good team you can a really good access denial platform - as the doom turtles.
I know. With a good team every tank can be good. :D My personal best with Maus is 9 kills in one game - but that was only because I had very good teammates. Usually it's hard to get 2 kills before being destroyed.
@@FA-fo4qh team mates are everything. I usually get teamed up with miss independent players, they all go to different points and do their own thing. Not everytime but a lot. I usually try to follow and support someone who seems like they are playing the objective, even if they won't acknowledge me doing so. The game is so much fun though. They should do more advertising, I didnt find out about this game until recently watching UA-cam videos. I didn't even knownit existed until 3 or 4 months ago

Really though, maus was my favorite tank in WT for like 3 years and they just removed it from the game undirectly (WW2 X Cold War) and then directly (maus got deleted from tech tree) :(

The Panther II and Tiger 105 made sense when they were added. They were added in so Germany had something that could combat the T-54, which outclassed everything at that time.
Yeah TBH that makes a lot of sense but still Germany now has no 6.7s anymore which kinda makes playing the tier a little gay
I don’t get how the panther 2 changed anything, it got the same gun but less armor. The only thing that makes me use it over the tiger 2p is it’s mobility and small front turret area

Naaah man. I had 1700 hours before i left this game and i still didn't reach top tier in ground vehicles *i think i got to like 8.7* waaaaaaaaaaay too much grind to get a tank that you would only use for memes

@@kajmak64bit76 Soviet is just a game of lineups tho, once you have a lineup for a tier you're nearly unstoppable. Lots of other trees you're stuck with 3-4 tanks tops in a lineup

i want a panther 2's night vision device on top of a Panther G and or F modifications, historically accurate, looks cool and ads a little bit of usability in night battles that arent that uncommon at their BR

When I started war thunder my goal was to unlock the maus and the panther 2 because it was at the time the top tier and i thought they looked so cool.
When gaijin removed them it killed my motivation to play I had the feeling of being backstabbed.
Since then I almost don't play WT anymore it's been à year that I haven't launched the game (exept for the april fools)
I stopped playing around the exact same time for almost the exact same reason. I unlocked all the removed tanks except maus, but I can still go back some day and finish it. However, its been over 2 years of no play and I don't think I'm going back.
Dont worry all the tier is ruled by Russian tanks now.

I'm still salty they removed the panther 2 before I had a chance to get it. Now that I'm finally at that tier I'm extra salty as there is a massive gap between the panther G and Leo 1

There needs to be a hard break between ATGMs and ww2 era vehicles, and a hard break between jets with and without AAMs. And maybe between jets and props in general.

Germany has a plane that can go over 400mph in tier 2. The HE100 D1 fights against biplanes.
IIRC in ground forces beta the reason the 105mm tiger and the Panther II were added is because they were needed to fill out the tech tree at that time (considering gaijin was brand new to ground vehicles,) that was almost 8 years ago though, a lot has changed and they're no longer necessary as tech tree vehicles. It would still be nice to see them come back as researchable vehicles for the newer players though.

@@AttiliusRex the guns don't fit simply because gaijin, instead of giving them the correct turret, slapped the 105 mm gun into the regular king tiger turret and the long 88 into the regular schmalturm.
Btw I enjoy a lot my tiger 2-105 and the panther 2, they are very fun to play

I remember on the old actung panzer site that had detailed information on German tanks stated that the panzer 2 was meant to mount the 75mm kwk42 L/100 . That would have been one long gun

You have an amazing ability to compact a lot of information into a short burst which is both controlled and extremely understandable. I'm impressed with virtually every video.
Yeah, I disagree. Even down tiered, the tank was able to penetrate using HEAT guns or shot trap method. And bombs makes all tank equal.
Want more unbalanced vehicles? Look at post war IS series or the Doom Turtle It has the same problem as the Maus (Good at Down tier but very bad at up tier) so I don't see it as problematic them getting down tiered to 6.x games (which is none). In fact, I would be more worried of post-war IS series fighting late WW2 tanks due having all of the holy Trinity of tank performance.
The Maus was a situational tank being suited for close range or urban combats due to the high pen vehicles it faced so players shouldn't cry when they got killed sitting in the open at a long range map. The only real problem was the high repair cost it have.

I am still really saddened that I got into war thunder and started working my way through the German tech tree like 2 days before they removed all of those cool vehicles. I just feel like I should have a chance to get those tanks if I want.
they should do a thing where they give people that want them those vehicles but never give it to the people that don't want it

I really don't agree with the panther 2 removal. Idc what criteria didn't met with his, the main criteria is "is it fun to play and balanced?" The panther 2 is both fun and balanced.

What could have helped maus was limiting max BR difference from 1.0->0.7. (this would also be good alternation to BR decompression)
They need to add back the other German tanks because they add nuance to the BR and aren’t just the same American, Soviet or British lend lease vehicles.

Nice video, but I will say that we definently need the panther2 back as there's no replacement at 6.7 without uptiering to risk facing Bradley's and centauro's, they said they won't remove vehichles until a decent replacement is found and so far there isn't, so adding the panther2 back only for a while would help alot especially with winrates that dropped since the pa ther2 was removed, this can also help move the german m48 back to 7.3 where it should be as the panther2 excuse won't be there anymore if they add the panther2 back. Overall nice video and I hope you address this point so others can see, have a good day!

Very informative video. We perceive things in a negative way but there is always a positive aspect to them. And in this case, that aspect is Gaijin actually learning from their mistakes. I am happy with that.

Wish I could play with panther II ,Coelian,Tiger II 105 they seem pretty fun especially panther II it is a better T44-100 at a lower br...
Coelian could of stayed since just replace the turret with the boxy mockup one and call it a day.

The best way to understand gaijin's logic is to look at the French tech tree ( this tech tree makes no sense)

I remember when the ARL44 with the 90mm was 5.7, while the other highest Tank was the Jumbo at 5.0 and the Sherman with the long 75mm at 4.7 and you didnt had anything else... fighting against Tiger 2H, Super Pershings and the like... i hesitated a long Time to research further in the French Tech Tree, now that i came back after more than a Years Break 5 weeks ago the tank finally sits at 5.0.
What do you mean? Having no line ups because of br's being all over the place and having essentially no stabs until top tier is an amazing idea ... Their tech tree is just a bit ... special. Ok ... very special.
@@LipziG3R Having no stab is fine. It takes more skill and know-how to use. and the tanks are almost all very good. Just the French F-100, is more expensive than the American one, at the same BR, while being worse.

I started to play warthunder to get the Maus, but then i realised that there is no mouse anymore ,so thats why i quit warthunder and am still playing WoT
Probably a very good decision. Not because WoT is better or worse, but because you dodged another insane grind fest lol.
And actually playing the Maus would've been one of the most frustrating rewards possible.
WoT removed the T-62 and replaced it with some stupid experimental tank last I checked.

Personally i think the Maus at 7.3 BR would be balanced mainly because its ridiculously slow
Only some soviet tanks would have serious difficultly with penetrating it
And even then while some tanks have issues frontally penning... I'm pretty sure most 6.3s can turret pen at point blank.

@@thebravegallade731 Nope. For example, name a tank that can pen the maus at 6.3 with conventional rounds. I can see a few vehies doing it at point blank. But even if the maus angles its turret a little bit, no one would be able to pen it with conventional rounds.

This is a huge problem with WT, yes. But vehicles like the Maus are actually pretty much impossible to balance. It would cause problems, even if Gaijin did everything right.

The ostwind 2 DOES have records of it being built... BUT it has even less documentation then the coelion.
