Thank you for this. I work out of my truck and couldn’t afford for it to be down. Had it done quickly and easily and it saved me money I didn’t really have spend.
After seeing your video who would want to take it back to the dealership to do the work, to leave there in a wheelchair because you paid a arm and a leg 😆 for something that took long as this video. Very helpful thanks 👍🏾
Thanks so so much buddy. Dealer wanted $379 for parts and labor for this. You saved me big $ and much appreciated!! They were going to charge me $179 just for the new container when i saw it online everywhere for $60-$80.
This video helped out big-time. I diagnosed the issue, bought the new part, and finished the replacement in two hours with the guidance here. I have an aftermarket intake, so there wasn't as much room, but it still worked great. Thanks for the clear/concise content.
The bottles are designed with a place for a level sensor but they don't use one on most of the vehicles including the one in the video. Since it doesn't penetrate the tank, there's no need to eliminate it on some bottles. With level marks on the bottle, there's no need for a level sensor. Enjoy the install.
Scott Bullins: Good question. The good news is the bottles have a place for a sensor but they don't use one on many of the vehicles including the one in the video. That's why they just put level marks on the bottle. That's how you check the level, just look at it. There is a coolant temperature sensor, but it's on the engine (driver's side) and that's another topic.
I did this in 08 Yukon 5.3 vortec my old one when filled would leak a little bit but once full it would stop and hold confused I bought a new one only to discover same exact thing hmm odd maybe that’s how they breath but it’s in the bottom corner somewhere does anybody notice this or just me ? Again once filled the don’t leak it’s very weird . Normal?
It's super common for replacement tanks to leak due to the casting error that I show in the video 2:13 . That's why I highly recommend smoothing that lower hose tube so it gets a better seal on the lower hose. When the lower hose tube leaks, it runs down under coolant tank and is often mistaken for a tank leak.
I had to loosen the tank to put in a new battery and now it seems to be a little more jiggly than it was before (I think). How much should the tank be moving around? I don't want to cause a rattle or have the hoses wear out prematurely from the motion. Thank you.
Matt Elder: If both the mounting bolt and nut are tight but the tank feels looser than it was, it usually means the hanger on the rear of the tank that goes against the fender-well didn't hook on quite right. That's what I'm doing in the video at 4:45 . It's worth a check. I hope that helps.
@@ScubaMoto Thank you. I did make sure that fell into the slot on the fender-well. I think the biggest problem is that the stupid mounts are plastic and it allows it a lot more freedom than good old metal. Also, having only two mounts diagonal from each other isn't the greatest design. I cussed out a few engineers when I replaced the battery given how much I had to move or remove just to switch out a battery!! Thank you, again.
Tony Ramirez: The vehicle in the video does not use a coolant sensor at the bottle. The only coolant sensor it has is for temperature and it screws on the driver's side of the engine. The bottles have a place for a sensor but it would not likely be the site of a leak. These bottles usually leak at the seams or where the hoses attach.
@@ScubaMoto I'm having coolant come out from underneath what does that mean it aint cracked do I have air in the holes ?? Not overheating just seem to squirt out from the overflow tank underneath when I step on it cap is new and so is coolant reservoir
Tony Ramirez: I'm pretty sure it's the lower hose leaking where it attaches. It's common with new bottles. That's why in the video at 2:12 I show that most new bottles have bad casting flaws where the bottom hose attaches and have to be scraped or sanded smooth. It is likely yours is also leaking due to casting flaws and is leaking and leaving fluid on the bottom of the bottle. With fluid everywhere it might be hard to confirm but if you dry everything off completely, you will likely find fluid first showing up on the bottom of the bottom hose. If so, then you need to smooth the lower hose nipple as shown in the video at 2:22 and then re-seal it with a good clamp. I hope that helps.
Watched the video and went out to the truck. 30 mins later the job was done. Simple clear video and literally no mess !
I'm glad it helped. Good job on the install and thanks for the comment.

@@ScubaMoto Thanks again Sir I replaced my coolant reservoir with no problem, you saved me from taking it to the dealership

@@ScubaMoto I also subbed, so I hope that helps the algorithm.
Great trick with the washer fluid bottle!! Well done! 😃
I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for the comment and for sharing.👍
Dude..😂 I fast forwarded and started right where you were pouring coolant back in with a windshield wiper jug. I freaked for a second😂😂
Knocked it out in 15 minutes, thanks man
You're welcome. I'm glad it helped . Congrats on getting the new tank on and thanks for sharing.
Excellent video/tutorial! Thumbs up and subscribed! Thank you!
Awesome! I'm glad it helped. Thanks for the sub.
Thank You, I will do this one myself. Great Job Sir.
Great walk through. No wasted time. Appreciated!
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for the feedback.
Just swapped mine in like 12 mins. Thanks bro

That was fantastic. Bravo sir.

I bought the replacement and am prepared to do so. I do have a question; what’s the hole at the bottom of the reservoir for?

@@ScubaMoto thanks a lot. The install was so easy
So these don't have a coolant level sensor? Hmmm
Great video!
No, not the one in the video. The tanks all have spots for them though.
Excellent explanations thanks

I just had a flush done. I noticed after getting home the side to the back is 2/3 full. The side on the front is full. Will they equalize?
Turn on all heaters and let it run for a while and they should eventually equalize.
THANK GOD thank you sir
Thank you
I just paid my mechanic $484 to do this job. I think it's time to find a new mechanic.
Maybe he changed all you coolant also. It’s very time consuming if he did.
He was wrong for charging u that price
Thanks a lot. Will be doing this tomorrow.

Well unfortunately for mine the tank split on the bottom so I guess I don’t have to worry about losing antifreeze 😂
I guess the bright side is you're basically getting a flush out of this. Good luck with it and thanks for the comment.
Chevy dealer wants to charge 900 dollars to do this
