Dr. Wily 1 from Mega Man 2 is oft cited as one of the best pieces of NES game music there ever was. On the whole I think Mega Man 3 actually had the better score, but wasn't quite as memorable a game.

This boss always sent me into a button mashing frenzy. Sometimes his projectile pattern is such that taking a hit is unavoidable and the battle becomes a race against time. Just KILL KILL KILL before he kills you with his unfair scattershot and pushback. Ahh good times.
My main argument for using said weapon on this stage is its ability to be fired in several directions, which you'll be assailed by enemies in varying patterns.

i kind of like how the music drops out when there are other sound effects which take precedence, it gave a focused atmosphere to the game

I just discovered that if you fire your arm cannon non-stop, the sound of the arm cannon firing cancels out the harmony line to the main melody.
