@@dustybunny6716 I suspect that the guard was probably an illusion. The absence of bows in the armoury, as well as Sebastian quickly deducing that Sigmar is an archer and in urgent need of a weapon, make it seem like Sebastian was specifically targeting Sigmar.

Perhaps that should've been the most obvious sign of that having been a dark magical contract: careful use of exact words.
The sheer disregard Sigmar has for the safety of his arms as an archer is both disconcerting and hilarious.
Man, Sigmar just can't avoid horrible things happening to his arms, can he?
Who knows? Maybe his arm will be back to normal after the battle.
And they're always in some way self-inflicted. Last time, he was reckless with his teleportation arrows. This time, he naively and recklessly accepted a mysterious magical deal without learning all its terms. Sigmar is in a setting where there's an entire character class (Warlock) who's premise can be summed up as, "this person made a foolish deal with a magical being".
He just needs some f*cked up things to happen to both his legs and he’ll go full Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail
One positive from this though, he is technically a weapon now.
Let's see what happens in season 4, something hilarious is probably going to happen to his legs.
By season 10 Sigmar is gonna be some horrifying body horror, automaton, cosmic horror nightmare.
I wonder what is the next body part that Sigmar will ruin through his own recklessness; will it be a leg this time?
By next season Sigmar's gonna have no arms at all!

I like how Jack was gonna tell Amy that 1) Extra Attack doesn’t work for spells, and 2) you can’t cast three leveled spells in one turn. (Action Surge can give you two.) but then he decided to just roll with it.
That's a good DM, when they try to adjust the rules because of better storytelling. Also, since he didn't outright try to stop Amy when she said she was casting again, he kind of had to let her since it's unfair to go "Wait a minute that didn't happen" after the roll for it. It's possible he talked to her after the session to let her know you cannot double cast on a turn for game balancing reasons unless they want to make a rule that anyone can double cast using their bonus action with some kind of penalty for doing so.
I think this is like their first boss fight without like some sort of gimmick or outside intervention, stopping them from making it a complete joke of a boss fight
@@Birthday1313that would be fair. She did cast a spell with her bonus action as well, so that was just some nonsense, but again, Jack is a pro and held back the rules lawyer. Glad no one is giving her grief for this. (I think, I haven’t checked)
The purpose of this show IS entertainment over fair play. The dast are performers trying to get the Second Wind productions going, so dickering around with "Well , actually..." would undercut the entertainment value of the game. Whether it ought to happenor not is less relevant than what makes for a satisfying story. So Jack milks the comedy, and we all benefit
@@dylanehooverlibrarian7026 Considering this is the very first combat encounter we've had since the UA-cam videos started coming out (if memory serves) I am 100% here for the story and character interactions. Combat is entirely secondary at this point to Jack's absolutely stellar DMing. He knows when to pull on the reins since he has done so before, but he made the call here to let it happen. If I had to guess he probably rolled with it on a mechanical level since the first attempt failed. I am willing to guess he would have said something if the first attempt had succeeded since 4D6 is hella damage.

Mortimer and Grinderbin are such a great duo, they work so well together! That advantage add to the final major roll and Jacks outright cursing at it was a legendary back up. Such a superb episode - Sigmar and Dabs coming in clutch in that fight.
I feel like Jesse is such a good roleplayer he could team up with anybody.
Welcome to season 3 of "Mortimer completely trivialises the BBEG by doing some fast talking while Jack curses up a storm in the corner"
I think, in this case, Jack came prepared by having multiple potential BBEGs for this season that are now all heading toward the same place. Mortimer may have easily defeated Prince Chisarick, but there's still Kalandra and Latavia, and all it would take for a new threat would be for someone to find whatever item Chisarick used to power the one robot.

@@yomanyo327 Also, the group still had to fight Celia; Mortimer didn't even try to talk the group's way out of a fight with Celia. All Mortimer's fast-talking did was trick some of Celia's own minions into attacking her.
The cursed tattoo deal is such a cool idea and the animation went above and beyond to make that look metal af.

@@seanw1783 Not necessarily. We don't know if the needle is one-use only, and, even if it is, Mortimer still has his vengeance, albeit indirectly: the queen may be alive, but, given that her husband is a walking skeleton and her son is now deceased, the queen's bloodline is dead.

The gruesome details for Sigmar's arm transforming into a bow of flesh, bone and sinew were both nightmarish and impressive. Props to the animation team!

Perhaps the funniest thing about that is, depending on what Eggelier's class is (I'm guessing wizard since she can change what spells she has equipped), they might not have needed to break the fourth wall, as they could've had her hold up a spell book.

I get the impression that the tattoo artist is a devil, and sigmar just formed a contract. This leads me to believe that Sigmar may have just multiclass-classed into Warlock.
That would be a good explanation of the mysterious religion check.

I highly doubt that the poison needle in the necklace is multiple use.
My personal theory is that the Changeling race in this setting has been persecuted/genocided by the Human Kingdom, hence Mortimer's line of questioning towards Lord Pikeworth at the end of episode one of this season
@@hfar_in_the_sky Wasn't that all but confirmed by Betty when Mortimer took her aside to ask about it? They weren't specifying that it was changelings, but the implication was pretty clear with the info we have. She even said the race was considered spies and saboteurs.

Incidentally, one thing that becomes clear on a rewatch is that Sebastian Piss specifically sought to make a deal with Sigmar and went out of his way to make sure Sigmar would take the deal: not only was there the conspicuous absence of bows in the armoury, but Sebastian, after Jack makes a roll, says, "You look like an archer" and later follows it up with, "You look like someone who's in need of a little help," which subtly imply that he knows a lot more about Sigmar and his current situation than he's letting on.

That bow...unexpected for real. But I was also thinking he should have put it on the arm with the mechanical hand... to keep all the potential bullshittery to a single arm. This might have saved him from the full brunt of damage if the mechanical parts to up most of the bow shape.
Man I can't wait for the rest of the back catalogue to come to Second Wind. I love binging this saga

Rewatching the entire series for the 4th time and I can never pick who my favorite character is. I love them all. Including all the NPCs.
I am just so happy that this show is back on, I cant stress enough how good it is
My predictions for this episode and the finale in general:
-Mortimer will be revealed as a changeling, spared as a child by Pikeworth during Beyonce's extermination/oppression of Changelings. Forced to hide his true nature since childhood explains a lot of his adult behaviours and beliefs.
-Beyonce will be killed if not by Mortimers plan then by someone else's and somebody will point out that Grinderbin is one of few with valid claim to the Throne, but Grinderbin will have no interest in pursuing this claim. (I'd love to see Betty take the throne honestly she seems alright for a necromancer).
-Latavia and Kelondra will cause mass destruction and chaos probably leading to at least one major death, if not a PC then possibly one of the beloved companions like Moped.
-The mysterious assassin from last episode will be revealed to be Honest/Chisarick the 1st (he would be heavy because of all the gems embedded in his skeleton. Possibly now under either Beyonce or Chisarick the 2nd direct control.
That's all folks, can't wait to see how poorly this comment ages!

4. This one was incorrect; the assassin was one of the Soulless. That said, you were correct about the assassin being under the control of Chisarick the 2nd.
First prediction was at least somewhat foreshadowed by one of the craracters in the side quest being a shapeshifter and explicitly stated to be a relative of Mortimer, I believe.
@@Riboshom Musk and Mortimer are not stated to be relatives at all. Musk was raised by Goblins (Goodsexes specifically) Mortimer's only family seems to be Pikeworth and the exact nature of that is still shrouded in mystery.

I fucking knew Mortimer was a doppler! It clicked for me when he was talking to Grinderbin in his room. Also great foreshadowing with Mortimer disguising as the fence in season 1 which I feel like everyone just kinda didn't question.
I'm pretty sure he's a changeling, since he had to use Grinderbin's clothes: Doppelgangers can change their outfits when shapeshifting.
Well, the party grows, and we got a horror Sigmar, Cleric Dabrella, and a ton of Npcs. On the other side, we got Charades with Grinderbin. This is a juggle of emotions.

Oh my freaking lo… I mean, „ah the classical part of every rpg adventure where there the body of the hero splits and rips apart in a well crafted and directed cutscene!“. Should have seen that coming ;).

I'm quite confused about the whole Beyonce scene, could someone explain, or at least headcanon it for me?
1. Why is she sitting around instead of going for the necklace the moment she realizes who is trying to attack her, or even that there is an attack for that matter.
2. Why does she trust some random people she never met to bring her the necklace, or find it worrying that they apparently think they could get it for her? This could've been solved by her by giving them some sign of authority or an escort, but this wasn't done.
3. Also weird that Mortimer didn't suggest getting some authorization. Yahtzee usually pays attention to these details. He could've avoided having to shapeshift. I mean, word will get around, and the queen will find out that they basically broke into her treasury, even if it's for them stealing something out for her.
My current theory for the queen is, since she is a wizard, the necklace boosts intelligence like crazy, and right this moment she's dumb as a rock. She certainly seemed out of it, and made no mention of the truth stone. I'm still confused about Mortimer though.
Anyone got any other ideas?
1. Considering that Latavia's prophecy turned out to be right and bonesy is there with her, she might have all kinds of feeling right now, one of which might be suicidal.
2. Bonesy is in a friendly term with both of them, so Beyonce might trust them a little bit.
3. He probably doesn't care the she found out about the whole thing cosidering that Mortimer still want to kill her.
My left arm actually was hurting when I saw Sigmar's arm transformed.
So many great moments in this episode!
Sigmar would definitely jump into the "free candy" van without any question...
