- Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said he is “interested” in learning about Italy’s scheme to send migrants rescued at sea to Albania to process asylum claims.
The British leader is meeting Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, as Italy receives the highest number of migrant arrivals, but has recently seen a dramatic fall.
"I've long believed that prevention and stopping people travelling in the first place is one of the best ways to deal with this particular issue”, said Keir Starmer.
The pair will discuss what is known as irregular migration, among other issues, as both countries aim to reduce arrivals by sea.

Genuine question, why cant we stop the boats?

There are international agreements about refugees from 1950s. There are laws about asylum.
Maybe it's time to rethink all that. Any migrant arriving, should be documented, and returned immediately to Africa with a regular passenger ship.
And if European companies need workers, they should pay a fair salary, and they will find European workers easily.

Italy is actively working to help the countries where migrant come from and taking legal responsibility for the asylum camps. Italy is also using its intelligence apparatus to stop the human trafficking gangs.

This is exactly why Australia prohibited MSM reporting of the asylum camps it established offshore. Australia knew that the MSM media would present the worst cases to the public and sway public opinion (cause squeaky wheels).
