We use our Fluke 62 max+ while cooking. Ideal for fluids like sugar-sirop,, sauces, checking the temperature of butter in a pan to make sure it’s ready to use or not near burning. It makes for more repeatable recipes and that’s great for amateur cooks like me. I practice large diners upfront and write down the temperatures where possible. It’s great when you want to cook a recipe again later perhaps on another cooking plate or in the kitchen of a friend.

This video did as good of job as humanly possible in explaining an instrument that came with a manufacturer's manual that doesn't explain shit. Without any guidance from the manufacturer, this narrator was able to figure out more than I can. So, it did help.

Just FYI you can change the default Min/Max/Avg/Diff by using SEL then pushing SET. You get no confirmation or anything but after pushing SET, the next time you pull the trigger, it will default to that setting.
