  • I took a solo trip on April 25, 2020 up to my old stomping grounds, Lake Amador. Having just visited the lake a couple weeks back with the Epic Alaska boys, I noticed the bass were in shallow either getting ready to spawn or spawning. Being one of the only lakes open locally, Amador was packed with people and boats!! I hiked back as far as I could and traced the shoreline looking for bass. I caught three on the day, with the biggest being a 4 pounder! I worked on a HUGE bass for a long time but just couldn't get her to bite!

Great video man! I’m heading up there with my 7 yr old son this weekend. Any tips for catching some fish?! We just started fishing 4 months ago and we love it! Should we rent a boat? Work the shoreline? I’ve never been to Amador. So any advice would be awesome. Thanks man keep up the great videos!

Thanks for tuning in Caleb! Hope this comment reaches you in time! Glad you and your boy are taking up fishing, it's one of the best hobbies ever!! Soo many great memories from my childhood fishing with my dad!! Lake Amador can be tricky at times! The dam and place by the launch ramp are always super packed with people, so when I get there I like to travel towards the back areas of the lake! If you could rent a boat that might increase your chances a bit...but on a good day the shorelines will produce as well! The bass now will be moving deeper since the weather has been soo hot! I'd start by throwing either jerkbaits or crankbaits, something that dives down atleast 10 feet. Bluegill and crappie should be pretty active and are fun for the kids to catch, nightcrawlers always get them and they school up around the boat ramps in front! Trout will be a little harder to find right now since it's been soo warm! Hope this helps!!

Hey bro, thanks for sharing this video. I was in lake amador and didn't have to much luck over the labors day weekend. There was at least 15-20 peopme fishing in the dock and no one caught any thing.
Where is this location and how to find?

Eddie M hey Eddie, thanks for leaving a comment! Yeah I typically don’t fish near the docks, there’s always a lot of people there! This spot is past the store, by where the campgrounds and disc golf course is. I drive as far back as a I can then hike along the shore while exploring for new spots.

@@jpiombo11 thanks, I was camping in an area called dry camp area. And I asked an employee that works there about fishing spot. He told me so.e where near the 45-46 camp areas is where he fishes and yes. My wife and her friend cought a catfish and I almost had a bass. Over all I'm leaning more towards this side rather than the dock. No fish during the 3 day labor weekend in this area.

Eddie M sorry you didn’t get anything..when I shot this video they were up shallow getting ready to spawn so it was a little easier to catch them! Now they are down deeper since it’s been warmer. Just keep casting though, good things will happen!
