Awww… this is my song to my 33yr old son. I was a single mom with no help and we had many obstacles yet I would look at him and he melted my heart and it gave me strength to keep going. He surprised me 4 years ago when he made this our mother/son song at his wedding. This song was a blessing from God. We got through it! Bawling over here, thanks a lot! I can SO relate--this song always makes me bawl thinking of my son as well! I was not a single mom, but in a painful marriage & suffering from depression, and my precious little baby boy was all that kept me going some days. I know the song is generally thought of as romantic, but the way it is written, the lyrics can easily fit a parent-child relationship as well, and I love that!

John Waite used to be the lead singer of a band called The Baby's ! That would be a band to look into !? "Every time I think of you" & "Isn't it time" ✌️
After Journey's break up in 1987, Keyboardist Jonathan Cain and Lead Guitarist Neal Schon decided to start on a new project. Cain, reunited with two of his former bandmates from The Babys. Bassist Ricky Phillips and lead vocalist John Waite who had a huge solo number one hit with "Missing You" in 1984. Drummer Deen Castronovo would also join the group - who would ironically join Journey as their drummer two years into Journey's comeback in the late 90s.
Written by one of the greatest songwriters of all time in Diane Warren, this power ballad hit Number 1 one the billboard charts in the Fall of '89. Although Bad English were only together for a few years, they made their mark.
Asia & BJ, their "Price of Love" was another top 10 hit.

John Waite went solo as well earlier in the 80's and did the song "Missing You" (1984) This band had Neal Schon aka the guitarist from Journey. They weren't a band for a long time. I think this one came out in 1989. Good song. "Straight To Your Heart" is another one they did.

This was my first concert when I was around 9, bad English and whitesnake. Then when I was like 16 we saw the singer open for journey and journeys guitarist, who’s this groups guitarist, came out and did a couple songs with him. It was pretty cool, except they didn’t do this song, which was their biggest hit.

I did not enjoy high school at all but I enjoyed the music that came out while I was in high school. This song was huge among us 15 year olds in Fall 1989. Especially during school dances.
When my daughter was born in 92 this was a real popular song. She was 3 months premature n born 1 lb 15 oz... We are expecting her on March 14th but she decided to bless me on December 14th... We would go see her twice a day everyday until she came home on February 14th Valentine's Day.
She just turned 33...
I felt as though this song was pretty much about her and how she's made me feel ever since she was born.

This was a classic 80's ballad and it came out in 1989, just before the whole Nirvana revolution that lead to alternative 90's. It was perhaps the last of the 80's ballads, now that I think of it. Either way, it was a good song, by a solid band, though the style had been done many times over by then. Anyway, it's always nice to see both of you smile and great reaction as usual.
I was trying not to cry either and then I wondered why we do that? Why do we stop ourselves from crying when it's a natural human emotion. I guess we don't like people seeing our vulnerable side and I'm going to try and change that.

Great supergrpup spin off of John Waite aa lead for the Babies with keyboardist Jonathan Cain who replaced Gregg Rolie in Journey in 1980 and of course Neal Schon if Journeybin guitar. This was a huge hit but this entire record was good. Waite had success solo with Misding You and Change as Two of his big hits.

John Waite is 70 and still can hit every note of all his music he just put out a 4 song ep. He has made 22 albums he is incredible. A documentary about his life called the Hard Way it's streaming on several platforms. I saw him preform a month before the COVID shutdown he is unbelievable his band top notch, check him out he has grown way beyond bad English. And the baby's.

This song is arranged like and sounds like a Journey ballad, of course that's because two classic Journey members are in the band, as well as a future (and now present) Journey member. Jonathan Cain (piano / keyboards) and Neal Schon (guitars), then Deen Castronovo (drums). "Forget Me Not" is Bad English's best song, IMO. It rocks, but in a haunting way. As this features 3 former members of The Babys, Jon Waite (vocals), Ricky Phillips (bass - now with Styx), and Jonathan Cain (previously mentioned), you should check out their best song "Back On My Feet Again". Fun fact: If you listen to the very end of Journey's "Why Can't This Night Go On Forever" (1986), you will faintly hear the beginning / ending piano part of "When I See You Smile". That would be a great song to react to, as well.
Like this one, Waite has a great voice. He did one called "Missing You" that came out when I was in highschool that related perfectly. It was so good but I swear he was trying to kill me .

Man John Waite! What a great voice and performer! He had great music as a solo career, but he was great when he was with the Babies! He’s best albums from head first in 1977 through Anthology from 1981 are his best work with the band!👌😎👍 you guys should listen to some of his early stuff with the Babies! I think you’ll love it!😎👍

Bad English was formed in the 80's after Journey disbanded quietly in 1987 after Journey singer Steve Perry opted to take a break... Neal Schon (guitar) and Jonathan Cain (keyboards) formed Bad English w/ singer John Waite and released 2 albums - 'Bad English' (1989) and 'Backlash' (1991) before grunge & alternative rock obliterated their popularity in the 90's.
Journey reunited in 1995/'96 w/ Steve Perry... but after Steve Perry was diagnosed w/ hip problems and unable to tour, Journey carried on in 1998 w/ singer Steve Augeri.
