In the jungle of self-centered videos or videos without much added value, finding such a dense and interesting one is a godsend.
Mille mercis and I will follow you from now on.

Here I'am in California and we got temps in the 70's that about 30's C.
I did get lucky today, I went to a local Botanic Garden for my Morning Walk and while video recording one of their fountains a Humming Bird came along and took a dip in the fountain and I got it on video. 😁
I'm switching from motorsports to Street-Urban-Nature photography.

I really appreciate your take on the minimalist esthetic. So many photogs call their work “minimalist” just because it’s single subject, black and white, or they used IM. You know your stuff and can easily explain what it is to be minimalist. I think the cropping examples were an excellent way to show how a composition becomes minimal. 👏👏👏

I really like both the minimal church photos you showed, for different reasons. I like the left one because it's moody, conjures of feelings of mystery, curiosity, inquisition, foreboding, however, the one on the right conjures up feelings of calm, serene, a sense of relaxation. I like the left one more though just because I like taking darker, moodier, rich color, very detailed photos more than photos where most of the content is snowy white negative space.
I really like the photos you took of the layered mountains and the one with the dark clouds above the pier/bridge. That's beautiful work.

Excellent video and images. I love the purity and serenity of minimalism. Is it usually done with landscape? I have seen some with flowers. I just don’t have the eye for this yet. I prefer the snowy church scene. So clean and peaceful and I can hear the silence. Thanks for sharing your amazing talent.

Wow! Mads, I think this is your finest video yet (and you've already set a very high bar for yourself). 👌👏
Interesting, informative and thought-provoking. Delivered (appropriately) in your wonderfully minimalist, yet highly engaging, style.
You are so clear and sure about what you think, and why, whilst leaving others to think differently if they wish.
You convey not just great insights and knowledge of your subject, but also your warmth, your appreciation of beauty and your eye for aesthetics.
How fortunate are we to have your splendid content on UA-cam, but frankly it should be being made into what would be a highly watchable TV series.
    I know I'd watch. 😊

As an avid amateur photographer, I personally find a minimalist image much more engaging when is is taken as a monochrome.
There is a greater degree of contrast and mood which enhance the simple composition.
This is of course a personal creative choice for the photographer!
As always, I look forward to your weekly "Inspirational" videos!
    Thanks from Alberta, Canada!
    Craig.

Peter, thank you for a beautiful video. As a pro photographer I truly appreciate the simple clear explanations. Well done! On the other hand, I have noticed some of the copy paste clouds appearing in different images. These are exceeding photography best practices and more into digital artistry. The same goes for heavy cloning and objects removal. The scenery is beautiful and the photography is top notch. In which of the Scandinavian countries are you ?
    best, Adi

Marvelous episode, Mads! I like both versions of your Black Church, but if I would have to pick one, it would be the snowy version. However, my preference would be to hang both next to each other on a light gray wall with the snowy version to the right. I also appreciate your occasional adventures into B&W ... Whatever you call it, minimalistic or simplified photography, your photos convey a certain simple visual elegance.

Very nice. You make it look it easier than it is. While most of us are preoccupied with the technical aspects (what focal length lens, ISO, shutter speed etc ...), the most important part is composition. Developing an eye for composing a minimalist photo takes concentration and practice.

SUPER video with a ton of info !!! Love how you explain it all.
I find it sometimes difficult to find balance (if needed or not) in some of my minimalist photos ( similar as your photo @ 6:49 ) .
Certainly with a lot of negative space I tend to crop.
My favorite of the Black Church is the one with the threatening sky.

Thats the beauty of photography as we all take different paths and through time develop our own tastes. As you said Mads definitions can be subjective and have seen others comment about someones style not fitting with what they believe is the definition of that genre. Even if the genre is not one that I wish to pursue it still doesn't stop me from appreciating what the other person has achieved. Personally at the moment, as well as landscape photography in general, I am really in to Black and White and for me its about the journey not the destination. Enjoyed your images today and delighted to see the subscriber count going over the 90K and excited to see you closing in on the 100K

Regarding the churches - i'd prefer the non snowy version at a first glance, because the clouds tell an immediate story whereas the lonely church requires a 2nd look, but then the story kept on telling.

Great video as always! I watched it right after the one called "The Exposure Myth in Photography" by James Popsys. Quite complementary actually... Mads insists on the fact that our artistic choices are our own. There is no point in questioning someone else's artistic choices, which is also what James was talking about. Quite interesting.
