I haven’t heard anyone break down her music like this. I love the attention to detail and the admiration for what her and Finneas do. They make such diverse, beautiful music and I’m so glad she showed us what she can REALLY do with her voice. Anyways, I would love to see you react to the rest!
Broooo your break down is absolutely incredible. A true man of his craft. I used to be in a small time band and prided myself on being able to break down music into the small elements that create the bigger picture but BOY oh boy you just made that look like art.
I've watched so many videos of these breakdowns by producers because I love the mix and mastering in this album, but not a single one has mentioned how in Chihiro, that synth piano sound following Billie's vocal runs almost mimics a Japanese koto and also the arpeggio descends in almost that Japanese insen scale sound, which makes complete sense to the influence of the song in general... all the playing with the major and relative minor chords in the background pads too.
Bro my patience was really tested with all your pauses although I could not stop watching. All the things you had to say made me love this album even more. Thanks dude!!

I know you know their music well. I believe 15 yr. old Billie singing "idontwannabeyouanymore" [July 20, 2017] and 16 yr. old Billie covering Michael Jackson's "Bad" for Triple J's 'Like A Version [Feb 8, 2018] show the creative/visionary/originality of Billie AND FINNEAS in the Music and on "BAD" - FINNEAS's guitar and harmonies - it's incredible. And I haven't forgotten about your new album.
In Birds of A Feather, I too got very excited toward the end because I was curious what effects Finneas put on Billie's voice. But upon further relistens, I think it's a synthesized theremin! It's rare to hear outside of horror movie soundscapes, but I know Billie loves the genre, so I was pumped to see it get use in a pop song!
Finally had a chance to sit down and watch this - wanted to wait until I could watch it all the way through at once. Absolutely great R&A!! But she gave you so much material to work with, it couldn’t have been anything BUT great. All the techniques…and her voice is absolutely beautiful on these tracks. Loved the beatboxing, too!!

But there are the AMAZON MUSIC SONGLINE's LIVE PERFORMANCES of "Wildflower", "Skinny", "Birds of a Feather" [I wouldn't watch the OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEOS for WILDFLOWER and BIRDS OF A FEATHER. Also, in my comments quite a while ago I mentioned that LOLLI WREN is - I BELIEVE - the best; - Elizabeth Zharoff is very good and up course - right up your alley; but Lolli Wren THE FAIRY VOICE MOTHER understands - AND EXPLICATES the mechanics of the voice - producing examples with her own vocals - HER EXCELLENCE AS A TEACHER is marvelous. And she is FUN and COLORFUL!
I think a lot of the times when you talk about her harmonies and her belting being so far in the back and washed away or in a cave, they were meant to give an almost underwater tone or vibe - like the album cover art.

She is credited and they talk of both being at the desk rather than Billie separate and just vocalizing. More of a team. She talks of being braver with her voice but many times only felt brave to stretch if she was alone. Love to see Billie growing and becoming more confident in her super skills. I love Billie Too!! I avoided her at first because she was too popular and I ASSUMED it was just more flavor-of-the-month, generic pop that would never enrich my life.... it wasnt until spring 2020 that I started to realize I was wrong... because I caught a glimpse of one of her over-the-top amazing arty videos... (I think it was "when the party's over") and I was like, "OK I'll bite; lets see what this is." the video captivated me. the SONG captivated me.. it snowballed from there. I had to check out more.... then... in the midst of this new delightful journey, she put out a new song: "My Future" THIS is what locked me in and made me a perma-stan. What a remarkable creature she is... and "My Future" speaks my language at such a personal level... a message I want to yell from the rooftops and make everyone hear it because people so rarely understand it about me... even when I try to say it to their face they don't get it or refuse to believe. But Billie knows.... ❤ even tho she has no idea who I am, I feel kindred with her because I know she gets it. ok I'll point out two things about this album. This is also my first time hearing these songs.. and I'm not getting to hear the true stereo mix right now, but I just wanna point out some stand-out moments for me 💗 in Lunch... holee crap that ending is hawt.. peter didn't point out her breath use toward the end, and how it sounds just like a gasp from a ecstatic sensual moment... and it COULD have come across awkward and make ppl uncomfortable, but it works so perfectly in the song concept and the arrangement that all you can do is vibe on it... in a sexy way. xD then the other magical standout moment for me, starts right here: 49:24 when you hear her FULLY step out of her safety net of breathy intimate shy expression, and background distant mixing, for the first time in this album... with soo much heart and right front-and-center!! It really caught my attention because I really don't think I've ever heard her let go that much before. There's a certain kind of freedom she's given her shy self for this remarkable uninhibited and PRESENT expression of her voice. This is a new Billie... a more confident Billie... and I'm HERE for it!! Peter you forgot to point this out!!
