You have to use a primer that is specifically for stain blocking to keep the knots in the paneling from bleeding through. Primers are very specific to what you want them to do. If you go to a paint store tell them exactly what you want it do do and they will help you choose which one is best for your particular job.
I love the direction the room is going. The doors look great, and I love the Walmart rug and curtains. It's great to see a young couple working together to achieve their goals. I can't believe how much you two have learned along the way to do by yourself. Keep up the great work.

Looks great so far. Bench seat is cute it’s just more permanent and you won’t be able to switch it out as easy. I think 2 chairs just give it more an office vibe were a bench seat to me is more for a kids room. Again just my opinion, I’m sure either way you go you will make it look nice .

I like exclusive ivory. It contrasts from the kitchen area and makes it its own space and differentiates from the rest of the home which I think is important in a room. The living room and dining room should be cohesive but a room that’s enclosed can have a different vibe but still compliments the rest of the house.

I am so proud of you two young people sticking together and accomplishing a cozy home - home is important. I think the ivory color paint would look nice with the rug since the rug has brown, ivory and gray in it. I also think blinds and curtains would look nice since the room will be an office space. Hey Kayla 👋🏾 I am beyond excited for this project with your new office to be!!!🥰 First of all I just love what you're using to prime and paint the walls with!!! So much easier and faster to get the job done! I think you made a great choice by painting the walls but I think you should wait on the curtains until you figure out what color furniture will be used in the space plus your decor! The rug is beautiful and that's a start but with those color curtains seem to be much since the whole space is going to be bright. Pull the dark colors from your rug ( like tan or brown or grey ) and let that be your curtain color. Also you could just do blinds to fit the window spaces since you are considering doing a bench there. The floors are absolutely beautiful, great job with that and the french doors are a 10 out of 10 for me!!!!😍 Can't wait to see the finished product!
Painting the walls was the right decision. The dark wood reminded me of a study for an old guy to smoke cigars and drink brandy.

I've used Kilz Primer to cover stained wood, grease on walls, etc. I applied 1 coat primer before I painted & it worked great for me. They have several different types depending on the situation you have. Best of luck!

Kilz 3 works on lacquered wood, stained wood, bricks etc. Just need to follow Kilz recommendations and use the correct paint (i.e. water, oil etc). Again, best of luck!

Bare in mind that if you are going to build a bench, the curtains will need to be short. Also, they may get damaged when sitting on the bench, so blinds might be preferable 😊❤xxx
If you are putting a bench in front of the windows will you need shorter curtains? I think a bench will look amazing, with pillows and a blanket! Sooo cozy! ❤

Vanilla frost should cover the knotted pine spots. And it's calms the white a little. I think it would also blend with the floors as well. Love Y'ALL

That rug is SUPER CUTE! I love the direction you're taking with the bench keep going! The shorter curtain looks better with the bench so I would keep it and the thought of the creamy wall with the bright curtain or vice versa is great also. With everything I would vanilla Ivory with those curtains and make the bench cushion a more brown color

Kilz primer should hide everything. Room is looking so good. Fresh light paint color and new floors will be beautiful. Wish I had wood floors. What kind of door hinges are those that you don't have to mortice? Thanks for the video Kayla.

Exclusive Ivory is reading more cool toned compared to Vanilla Frost. Based on the 1st rug choice, I would go with Vanilla Frost. Everything is coming together nicely. I can't wait for the full reveal. What if you went with warmer toned curtain instead of a neutral color, same color family but just a little darker if that makes sense.

To block tannins in real wood,you need an oil based primer. I used the BINZ brand in my home and it worked like a charm. I can’t wait to see the finished product! I’m team Vanilla Frost on this one!

Hey Kayla and Marcus, I saw one of the UA-camrs do her Knotty Pine walls over by filling in the lines with wall putter filled and smooth them out that made them look like plaster wall the finishing was beautiful

I think the things from Walmart are a better look with the brighter wall colour. I also like the idea of the bench for extra storage and the vibe.
I was thinking of you maybe using that frosted window cling to provide privacy and allow light to flow in that way the curtains won't have to have shears I think they date the look. Just a thought 😊

Love makeovers! I like the vanilla frost paint color. It coordinates well with the current rug you’ve purchased which is also my choice and the polar bear color which I believe is the paint color in the next room? Creams and tans paired with whites is so classic. The other choice looks dull next to the polar bear color on camera . So glad you chose to paint and love the French doors. Also, as an avid reader, I have always wanted a window seat to cozy up on with a good book so love that you’ll be doing that. More seating that way as well and that window shape is asking for that window seat.

Hi, I love you guys working together to make your house a home. I like the Exclusive Ivory paint. I think it will warm it up a little without going to dark. The Target rug is a little more youthful and will add a nice design element. Maybe a floor-length curtain that is a shade close to the pattern in the rug with sheers in the middle. Just my opinion. Can't wait to see the final reveal.

Edited to add, those curtains are most likely light filtering. Light filtering curtains are usually a medium weight and semi sheer, which allows some natural light to come in but in a muted way, rather than blocking the light fully. I have light filtering curtains throughout my house and love them because I like to have natural light even if I close the curtains for privacy. I really like the color scheme you're going with with the Walmart rug and color of the curtains you found. I like the Walmart rug better than the Target rug, mainly because of the pattern.
I vote Ivory paint and Walmart rug (vintage like style) and will go great with the flooring and options you have for the desk and will give a little pop to the room.
Use some paintable wood filler on those notches that should help to conceal them on the wall..
Also the items that you choose for the office are really nice..Since you want a window bench the curtains are the perfect length..! I can’t wait to see the end result!!

Looking good. I have always liked white or light walls, it opens and brightens the room. You can always add color to the space with furniture and accessories. This is just my opinion.❤❤❤❤❤
Hey Kayla. I love how you renovate and decorate your home to make it feel very cozy and homey. I love that vibe so much. Now for my opinion on the paint color and rug for the office area. I went back and forth rewinding your video to picture which color would look right in my opinion on your walls with the brown rug. And I have to say that I had to google the two paint choices online to get a better view of the color and sadly I still couldn't tell much of a difference in them. Lol. But If I were to make the decision with the curtains and the rug I would choose exclusive ivory just because it gives it that cool tone in contrast of the rug and the curtains. I hope this helps. :)
