sadly, the amount of space required to store an image in minecraft redstone is pretty large, considering one redstone dust is one bit(not byte, a byte is 8 bits)
@@bork6996 The way this paint program was written, each Redstone dust actually is a byte (or more specifically, a word? It has 16 states) They are using Redstone signal strength as a hex value, not just the on/off state as binary :) This should make it smaller to store. Still complex, sure, but much better than individual bits
@@dianjonker it would be a nibble not a byte. and it would not be a word, a word isnt a particular value its dependent on the cpu but this isnt a cpu. even still it would be absolutely huge to store, hex storage isnt that much more compact than regular storage even as a rom just because of the way the logic has to be to preserve the signal strengths. so their point still stands.

Here's a few ideas of things to add: - A reset button (probably on the screen itself so that you don't hit it accidentally) that makes the entire canvas white - Use block displays so that you can click on the item/tool to use it, rather than clicking a note block - Use pistons on the trackpad so that when rhw player walks, they get sent back to the middle. This would both make the trackpad smaller, and make you not have to fly if you want to move your cursor far - This one probably isn't possible, but an undo button? You could probably store the inputs in a ram (or shift register?) and have a button to undo.

just use map displays, they dont require illegal dust states and also no resourcepack. it is more complicated but it also makes use of the maps so you can paint design elements,that anyone can see ,even with no resourcepack installed. i have made an working version and if anyone has questions of how i did this just ask me in his server in voice chat

I have an idea. Using relative position seems cool but maybe just using your normal pressure plate idea to move it left and right would be much simpler. You could then use some kind of entity or mob (like a chicken) to push the player back into the centre when you release the key. Still an incredible creation as always!
This bring back to many memories. I remember getting into redstone after reading the first Minecraft redstone book. Still have it to this day. They featured “FDB Disco” or something like that. He made a game “cakedefence” it was so amazing watching the UA-cam video. Somehow I never downloaded it. I then tried making my own.
As someone who has done a fair bit of logical redstone, this is way beyond anything I could ever imagine doing. A few things though, I don't know exactly how your machine works, so I don't know if this would be feasible or not, but wouldn't the bucket tool be similar to the zero spreading from your minesweeper? Also, I was wondering if it would be possible to use those illegal dust states to get extra colors for the screen. Still amazing job on this.
The bucket tool is similar, except that zero spreading is *always* for a zero value, while bucket spreads depending on an arbitrary value. This means that the color needs to be shared, and the comparison needs to be done on the fly, not precalculated.
I can't wait for 1.21 so that we can finally have good buttons for this sort of thing. Wind charges are the correct way to interact with buttons on giant redstone builds..
@@maxybg Sure, if you build your computer out of components that can be moved by wind charges, they could have bad side effects. If you don't, but use inputs that can, then you can hit the inputs from really far away.
Great video! If it is possible it would be cool to add a second layer of tripwires right below the "trackpad" to detect clicks. So if you want to move the mouse you hover just over the second set of tripwires, and when you want to draw you hover right in between the two sets of tripwires so both gets detected at once.
This project is with no doubt a masterpiece but to be honest I prefer when you don't use signal strengths as colors / symbols simply because I think this kinda destroys the redstone golden rule : you have to do everything by yourself, including colors.

The amount of people getting annoyed about the texture packs is CRAZY. I mean I get where they are coming from, but its his build, he can make it however he wants. Not to mention it is still vanilla, and also, he already made a version where you do not need a texture pack. And how can you downplay all of the work he did simply because he used a texture pack? Just think how you would feel if you spent hours making ms paint in Minecraft only for someone to go "u used texture pack thats cheating"

Now you need to make a general purpose computer with a color screen. It will have applications, like a calculator, paint v2, one of your games, and jazziireds email and programmable jukebox. It could also be programmed with python. Something like that would be awesome

Imagine writing a python program that takes in an image file, and converts it to a grid (same size as your canvas) and sets all the colors to the 16 values you support. Similar to your 3d renderer process. You could do color matching for images with over 16 colors, just map to nearest neighbor. Would be a fun project :)
Suggestion: make one place where the player can use all the settings in a more compact area. I.E. a lectern with colored names of color options as its pages, and the buttons for tools and sizes near it That might be too complicated or redundant, but it’s neat to me
an interesting ui choice could be detecting when the player crouched. if they crouched, that could be equivalent to holding down mous left click. walking normally will just be moving the mous around.
the only thing about illegal states is, it was neat to think about how you could make this all in survival and if you can get illegal states with commands, how far can commands go while still being redstone (I also could just not be very smart, and it still is something you can get without cheats) still amazing though, I couldn't even get close to V1 with commands

While all of the different tools, and especially the bucket tool, are really cool, the fact that you needed to use illegal states kind of diminishes the accomplishment in my eyes.
Will you be publishing something discussing Bucket Tool internals? I'm really curious how you did this, since the usual algorithms require either having a queue or having recursion.
Bro ill sugest you to use the calabrated skullk sencor below the trup wire, which will make sure pass the input of the trip wire pad if you snick or walk not with other thing, making it usefull without creative, and add item changing also based using calibred skull sencor like if you wear armour then brussh will triger, if do eat then something else will triger.

since you are already using custom textures, you could use the villager trade sounds to make the tools be items in your hotbar

Bro ill sugest you to use the calabrated skullk sencor below the trup wire, which will make sure pass the input of the trip wire pad if you snick or walk not with other thing, making it usefull without creative, and add item changing also based using calibred skull sencor like if you wear armour then brussh will triger, if do eat then something else will triger.
Just with the music you can know that the level is insane
