Hey, I'm pretty new to your channel within the last week, I love your videos and basically binge watched them all. I used to have a 2014 FRS but it was stolen and never recovered. I live very close to your area and want to offer my cars for you to work on for content in your videos. I have a 2019 370Z, 1972 Pontiac GTO convertible and a 1988 Ford Bronco. You could have 3 very different vehicles to work on and of course all parts would be paid for by me, I also have a large amount of tools and a welder that can be used. If this is something you would be interested in just let me know. Thanks and keep the great videos coming.

I found this to reset the accelerator pedal :
"There is only one way to reset it properly and it takes about 20 min.
Your car must be cold for this to work:
    1. Get in your car and make sure all of the accessories are off (A/C, lights, radio, fan, etc)
    2. Turn the key to the "On" position and wait for 20 seconds. You should here some relays and your fuel pump for a second.
    3. Start your car without touching the gas petal.
    4. Let it idle until the radiator fan comes on.
    5. Turn off the car and when you restart you should be all set"
Apparently this makes it better too :
"Then with the car in neutral and the parking brake on, i slowly began to increment the throttle. Start with 2mm, let the car try to hold the rpm steady, it'll fluctuate alot until it learns, then continue to the next 2mm increment until the car can hold the rpm steady. I did this until it reached about 3000rpm. "

Anybody who wants to remove the airbag from their car needs to know the risks first. I used to have a nice VW GTI. It was my first car and I loved it to pieces. Of all of the mods to do, I always took safety into consideration. 2 weeks ago I was in a head on collision that totalled my car. The combined speed of our cars when we hit was around 170km/h, and I was able to walk away with only minor injuries. I hate to think of what would of happened had my airbags not deployed.
I'm not saying don't change your steering wheel, just make sure that you are fully aware of the risks that you are taking.

Oliver Bagley same, I’d just rewrap my stock wheel or upgrade in my case to the “m3” wheel

    • @mrsilveri
      @mrsilveri 6 років тому +6

Well when I was in a crash with the airbag the powder off of the airbag had me coughing for a good 20 minutes if not more and the bag itself left bruising on the side of my face. This oddly enough was in the same type of Civic hatch that Robbie is working on. The thing of it is, had someone not opened the door for me after the wreck it would have been considerably harder to breath in there and I was so disoriented I dunno how long it would have taken to open the door.
I'm not saying all airbags are like that but I'll take my chances with a aftermarket wheel as I was once rear ended so hard in a classic car that the seat broke. I was fine other than being sore and the steering wheel had no effect on me. I'm just saying for some people their luck may require them to have an airbag but I'm better off without one.

DaNiDD0213 only if the car is designed to have a harness. If there isn’t enough crush and the car transfers too much energy to your spine, you get a special parking pass.

IMO a racing wheel doesn't look that good on such a new car.
It could look cool with a flocked dash and more race inspired stuff.
But with your setup, I think a modified stock wheel would look better.
I don't want to be that guy talking about safety, because that's your car and your life after all, and life would be boring af if we wanted to stay safe at all time, but I don't think it's worth the look and it's now placed way too close.

To solve the throttle, found this on the Internet:
My Throttle Pedal has dead spot - car sluggish after Flashing Tune
To minimize any issues and speed up learning after a Flash or Reset
Turn ignition fully off after a flash or reset
Turn ignition fully ON, do not start car, do not touch throttle, leave for 20 sec this will allow ECU to perform its diagnostics and calibrations on cam position and throttle position sensors
    Turn off ignition
Turn on ignition leave for 20 sec then start car do not touch throttle
Let car idle for at least a minute and wait till it settles at the normal idle of about 750 RPM, again do not touch throttle.
After normal idle is achieved then drive car.

Stock looked nicer imo. Also having an air bag > weight reduction, especially when your just driving your car around and not racing. Not worth the risk for just the looks or the small weight reduction that won’t change that much to begin with. Lastly no horn :/

Subaru idle/throtle position relearn, works on all subaru models with an electronic throtlebody:
    1) Turn off the lights, aircon, stereo or any system in the car that draws extra current on top of the engine.
    2) Disconnect the battery for 30 mins.
    3) Reconnect the battery.
    4) Before you start the car for the first time, turn the key to the ON position but do NOT turn the engine over. Wait 10-15 seconds so the electronic throttle body or IACV has time to go to the factory programmed home position.
    5) After waiting, start the car and let it idle without any load, lights, A/C etc.
    6) Every 20 seconds or so the idle will be adjusted up and down as the ECU tries to adjust it towards a stoichiometric fuel / air mix.
    7) Leave the engine running for a full 10 mins but DO NOT TOUCH THE ACCELERATOR during this time or turn on anything that will cause extra electrical current draw.
    8) Turn off the engine, and leave the key in the OFF position for at least 20 sec.
    9) As per step (4) turn the key back to the ON position for 10 - 15 sec without actually starting the engine.
    10) Start the engine and leave to idle for a further 5 minutes without touching the accelerator and without turning on other systems in the car.
    11) Turn off the engine again and wait at least 20 sec before restarting.
    12) Take the car for a test drive as the ECU should now be fully retrained.

Awesome video, it made me order the DND spline quick release, and I just got it. I got one question tho, anyone experiencing any play with the quick release? Mine is not fully solid and firm, and I hope its not supposed to be like that?🙈

New wheel looks great, and it seems like it drives well. Been thinking of replacing the factory momo in my bugeye with a better wheel but I can't afford a SUPER nice one.

Do you have like another daily car? Because I don't think it's a great idea driving around everyday without a horn and an airbag. Just sayin'. The wheel looks sick though!

Go to O’Reillys and get an “Electric Memory Saver” part number “OBD-L”. It’s only $38 and it plugs directly into your OBD Port, stores all the memory from the ECM and once you reconnect the battery again it pulls all the memory back from the device so you can skip all that nonsense of relearning it’s idle.

Perhaps you can use the wiring for the horn and make a separate button for it so it doesn't blare anytime you plug it back in. Or in case you almost get rear ended, sideswiped etc.

honestly as this car is a daily driver, i’d just prefer to send my oem steering wheel into CarbonTastics for a carbon treatment and retrim. loved it in Beckerman’s M3 from Throtl

Gotta say the interior is rad other than the shift knob and the crown royal bag, obviously it's not my car but I think it'd look badass with a red suede boot and a bright red knob. I feel those things kinda throw off the rest of the interior

steady throttle over long periods of time speeds up the learning period. Go do some highway cruising and it should be good a lot faster than with normal stop and go driving. :)
