  • Final assault on the foxes. My last trip down to these sheep properties this season. Lambing is about 90% done and I've already shot 228 foxes in this area over the last few months.
    I have 5 properties to visit over the course of the next 3 nights it's now time to clean up any foxes still hanging about.
    Running my Sako 85 Hunter chambered in 223, SCSA Q2 Moderator, HikMicro Thunder TQ50 V2 and Pulsar Thermion2 Pro XP50 Lrf thermal scopes.
    The tripod I'm using is a Bexin ST424C with Sirui K30XII Ball head to arca swiss plate.
    I also have some new gear with me this trip, a new laser for the roof mounted thermal on the SpydaBot and the River 2 Pro portable power station from Eco Flow which will be very handy to keep all of my gear charged up out in the field where access to reliable power is sometimes an issue.
    As promised, here's the links for the 2 products featured in the video.

    I’ve lived on farms for most of my life. Having seen what a fox can do to a sheep or a calf WHILE BEING BORN, I have no pity for them whatsoever. They will get into the chicken shed and kill all of the chickens without even taking one to eat. You are performing a community service for all farmers! Keep up the great work.

      I remember the greenies trying to tell us they'll only kill what they can eat. Wish they'd get their heads out of their a.... armpits and face reality. Before they brought in the fox bait controls I used to buy the baits I needed and start baiting a month before lambing which worked great with no lamb losses then they brought in the controls and I was down from 120% lambing to just 50%.

      I had a neighbour that wanted to have a little farm so bought 12 chickens to provide eggs. They hastily put up some sloppy chick wire fence but next morning they only had one chicken alive. I felt a bit sorry for them to learn the hard way.

    great trip. be great if you did a video on fox hunting tips. I've been asked to teach a young fella how to hunt foxes, and i'm very passionate about it, but guiding them to other shooters will always add to their ability.
    for me, this year and a half has produced more foxes than the last 10 years. from the usual 4 a year to 15 this year at home alone. bush recovering from major fire 4 years ago with lots of ground cover.
    at this time of year, i seem to get mainly dog foxes due to vixens about to drop their young. how many were dog foxes?
    out on a cull the other night, foxes not on the menu, but one popped into paddock 500M away, called him in with hand call and he charged in to 100M easy shot. nice to see them respond to the whistle again after mating season finished.

    Great video and shooting. I run a few sheep ( mostly cattle now ) and shot 29 foxes largely within 40 acres of lambing paddocks WTF....all on foot within close proximity to new lambs. I had a lamb killed that was no where near new born. Blood on the head and no liver. It was fat head dog and his vixen mate pairing up to hunt. Got them both when they came back for the rest of the meal. I don't think all foxes are killers but some kill a lot of lambs. Lots of big fat headed ones this year. I think but don't know numbers usually correlate with the prevalence of mange. My first season on thermal ( spotter) and night vision scope. It is a game changer I have learnt a lot from your videos thanks. I'm not pinging them past 200 yards though if I miss with IR light they will remember me. The ADI blitzkings in 55gr are great in my Sako too. Head shooting above long grass no worries. Having spotlighted for so long I am still happy with night vision scope but love 640 thermal can see them from two farms over. My spotter same engine as the second scope you used here. G'day from southern Victoria.

    • @RJMHuntingAustralia
      @RJMHuntingAustralia  Рік тому +1

      That's bloody awesome Dave.
      Glad you've been able to get some positive info from my videos.
      You're spot on with the foxes, not all of them are lamb killers however when they pair up and get the gist of knocking off a few lambs, they can become relentless. Same goes when they have mange or are not 100% healthy for some reason.
      Stoked your setup is working so well for you 200yd with IR is sensational.
      A 640 scope is a gamechanger for those longer shots when required.

I live in the ACT and it is infested with foxes and cats. They even have them inside the Tidbinbilla nature reserve happily eating the potoroos and all other small natives. Your overall setup has evolved into something that is very sophisticated. This is a great development for farmers and pest control shooting in my view. It only helps you to find them. The shooter still has to finish the job the old fashioned way. I really enjoy watching your videos. They give me good ideas for my own shooting. I have to be honest I am a big fan of Eagle Eye gear. Another great session, just set up my Hick as a dedicated scope, should have gone the clip on I can't signt in as accurately as I would like my .223 would shoots fairly good less than 1" at 100 with factory ammo, but tweeking the Thunder does not seem to have the same precise adjustment of the magnification is too llw for me to sort out my stuff at 100, bkt dissapointed with the Hick Thunder, mh Infirah CH 50 V2 is far superior. Great segment again, thanks.

    I do quite a bit of fox shooting here in the UK for local sheep and poultry farmers. Do Wild dogs/dingo's cause many problems among sheep farmers?

    • @RJMHuntingAustralia
      @RJMHuntingAustralia  Рік тому

      No so much in this particular area mate however there are many regions where wild dogs absolutely decimate sheep populations and have forced many of the farmers to get out of the sheep industry all together 😪
