- Final assault on the foxes. My last trip down to these sheep properties this season. Lambing is about 90% done and I've already shot 228 foxes in this area over the last few months.
I have 5 properties to visit over the course of the next 3 nights it's now time to clean up any foxes still hanging about.
Running my Sako 85 Hunter chambered in 223, SCSA Q2 Moderator, HikMicro Thunder TQ50 V2 and Pulsar Thermion2 Pro XP50 Lrf thermal scopes.
The tripod I'm using is a Bexin ST424C with Sirui K30XII Ball head to arca swiss plate.
I also have some new gear with me this trip, a new laser for the roof mounted thermal on the SpydaBot and the River 2 Pro portable power station from Eco Flow which will be very handy to keep all of my gear charged up out in the field where access to reliable power is sometimes an issue.
As promised, here's the links for the 2 products featured in the video.

Thankyou for watching and don't forget to say G'DAY. 👊 😎
I’ve lived on farms for most of my life. Having seen what a fox can do to a sheep or a calf WHILE BEING BORN, I have no pity for them whatsoever. They will get into the chicken shed and kill all of the chickens without even taking one to eat. You are performing a community service for all farmers! Keep up the great work.
Appreciate that mate. They're opportunistic buggers that's for sure. 👊
I remember the greenies trying to tell us they'll only kill what they can eat. Wish they'd get their heads out of their a.... armpits and face reality. Before they brought in the fox bait controls I used to buy the baits I needed and start baiting a month before lambing which worked great with no lamb losses then they brought in the controls and I was down from 120% lambing to just 50%.
That's terrible mate
I had a neighbour that wanted to have a little farm so bought 12 chickens to provide eggs. They hastily put up some sloppy chick wire fence but next morning they only had one chicken alive. I felt a bit sorry for them to learn the hard way.
Let alone what they do to native fauna
Excellent work mate...makes you wonder where all these bastards come from.
We're definitely having an impact on the numbers but the amount about over the last 2 years is next level.
Outstanding shooting as always.
Loved the vaporised Hare.
Certainly spectacular through the thermal 👌
Thanks Rod, that is amazing 235 foxes, OMG they can breed. The seasons must have been good. I love the new gear as well. The Ecoflow is on my bucket list. as well.
There has been a couple of cracker seasons in a row mate.
You won't be disappointed with the Eco Flow mate.
Thanks for keeping the foxes under control. Though I don't live in Australia, I do know that a large population of foxes can wreak havoc on the lambs. I hope to see another video soon. Cheers from Texas.
Thanks David. 👊 👊
That is some very good shooting there, and enjoyable to watch.
Thank you for your efforts, and looking forward to the next post.
Thanks for that Scott 👊
Hi Rod, as someone who started shooting years ago using hold over and under i was hoping you would take the shot...and yes you did...with a great result..always worth go!!!
Thanks John.
It almost becomes second nature when you do it on a regular basis. Very rewarding when it all goes to plan. 👊
If you are walking across a paddock that you should not be in and hear someone say, "G'day", run for it as fast as you can but it is probably too late anyway.
Pmsl.
Why not say G'day back to me. I'd probably have a heart attack. 😅
Top stuff as always Rod. Any fox you can remove from the land can only be a good thing.
Totally agree mate 👊
Awesome work Rod, you’re a champion! Thanks for your effort & sharing the video. We’re spoilt today with the daily double, a video from yourself & one from Nathan as well. 👍👍
Haha.
Appreciate that.
Thankyou 👊
Hell fire Mate! Moral to the story - If it's pitch black and someone says "G-Day or Hey"... don't stop, just run like hell huh? Great video!
Haha.
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Most people wouldn't realise what you and the farmer see but here is the real evidence. Thank you for the work and providing the reality through your videos.
Glad you enjoyed it mate 👍
Not only that. When you hear the noises foxes make at night they certainly wake you up of a night. Sometimes they are 5 meters from our bedroom window. They make a disgusting noise.
Great video as usual mate love the new toys you've acquired some guys have all the fun lol .on a serious note that was some awesome shooting and kudos on the tally cheers mate 👍🦘🇦🇺
Appreciate that Damien, thanks mate 👊
Excellent shooting as always,
Bagged 5 myself this evening after finishing lamb marking.
Looking forward for the next video keep up with the good work mate 👍🏻
Well done mate.
Thanks 👌
Love your Sako, who would have a synthetic stock when you could have that.
You and me both!
She's a beautiful thing. 😍
London calling….Another great upload Sir, I look forward to your new videos, please keep them coming.
My pleasure sure.
Thankyou for your continued support 👊
Great job Rod good to hear the numbers are low. Don’t worry about the lack of cats, another fella from another channel got a couple for ya 👍👍
Haha. Thanks mate 👊
Howdy from Sacramento! Nice shooting! Love me some Toblerone! Cheers!
G'day from Oz mate. 👊👊
Awesome as just watched edge of the outback now RJM.
Can they set the lazer up like the Fyrlyt spotlight with a key fob so you can turn it on and off remotely from down the paddock? That way no chance of looking at it. It’s bloody cool set up. Keep up the great shot placements and videos. 👍🏼
Me too!
A remote laser would be magic but I'm not holding my breath 👊
Nice work on the red skins mate great video and a nice bounty to collect .wished we we had a bounty on them here in the UK 🇬🇧 💥🦊👍
No bounty for us here in NSW unfortunately mate. 😔
Always love catching up on your latest shoot Rod 👍🏾
I appreciate the continued support. Thanks 👊
Hares. Because when you shoot them…hairs
Good to see you do some calling @12:24, really brings them running, little buggers. Excellent shooting!
Great fun when they're keen on the whistle. 👌
excellent work once again Rod, looking at the numbers your definitely making an impact on those red dogs, keep up the good work bud. 👍😎
Thanks Wayne, will do mate 👊
great trip. be great if you did a video on fox hunting tips. I've been asked to teach a young fella how to hunt foxes, and i'm very passionate about it, but guiding them to other shooters will always add to their ability.
for me, this year and a half has produced more foxes than the last 10 years. from the usual 4 a year to 15 this year at home alone. bush recovering from major fire 4 years ago with lots of ground cover.
at this time of year, i seem to get mainly dog foxes due to vixens about to drop their young. how many were dog foxes?
out on a cull the other night, foxes not on the menu, but one popped into paddock 500M away, called him in with hand call and he charged in to 100M easy shot. nice to see them respond to the whistle again after mating season finished.
Something I have long considered just wasn't sure how much interest there would be. 🤔
Great shooting mate nothing better than a few red dogs on the deck good stuff and I’m sure the farmers are very happy with your efforts
Thanks buddy 👌
Your a top shot Sir. Keep up the good work!
Thanks buddy 👌
Awesome shooting, very relaxing after watching it, thank you for the video, greetings from Melbourne👍
My pleasure.
Glad u enjoyed it mate. 👊
Good work mate I am a long way behind your tally for the year.
The fact that you're having a crack is all that matters mate 👊
Great shooting as usual, not often you miss but second shot killed them , well done your definitely making a difference on the numbers 🦊🦊🦊👏👏
I hate missing but it happens.
Thanks David 👊
Increíbles videos muy buenos de excelente calidad.
Thanks mate
378 meter shot. Yep, I'd call that a success! Nice shooting Rod!
Yep 😉😅 thanks mate.
Especially for a 223. If I remember correctly 10 inch drop at 300 yards 25 inch drop at 400 and 55 at 500 yards.
That sounds about right mate 👌
Hi The question I want to ask is do you ever come across feral dogs as I was at a property in the mid west of WA and the owner often looses sheep and lambs to them and he was telling me they work in packs. Any how another great video from you just look after yourself and good shooting.
Not a big problem where I generally shoot mate however they cause the farmers hell in many areas. Absolutely decimating livestock
G'day Rod, Being retired up here in Queensland, I thoroughly enjoy watching these educational videos from you and Nathan. Keep up the good work. Cheers Dan.😊
Much appreciate that Dan. Thanks mate
Really enjoy how you deliver great content. I also enjoy the movement of the rifle as you shoot. As a grunt from early 80s, you could tell a lot about your shot, after you pull the trigger. Thanks from Lismore NSW
Appreciate that mate. Thanks👊
How hard is it to get a gun in Australia? I hear it's almost impossible. Where I live, it's pretty easy but not as easy as it used to be.
Not that difficult. Police check, genuine reason, safe handling course and application fee. Then wait and wait a bit more.
@RJMHuntingAustralia - Good to hear. Sane ppl shouldn't have a problem getting gun.
Great video and shooting. I run a few sheep ( mostly cattle now ) and shot 29 foxes largely within 40 acres of lambing paddocks WTF....all on foot within close proximity to new lambs. I had a lamb killed that was no where near new born. Blood on the head and no liver. It was fat head dog and his vixen mate pairing up to hunt. Got them both when they came back for the rest of the meal. I don't think all foxes are killers but some kill a lot of lambs. Lots of big fat headed ones this year. I think but don't know numbers usually correlate with the prevalence of mange. My first season on thermal ( spotter) and night vision scope. It is a game changer I have learnt a lot from your videos thanks. I'm not pinging them past 200 yards though if I miss with IR light they will remember me. The ADI blitzkings in 55gr are great in my Sako too. Head shooting above long grass no worries. Having spotlighted for so long I am still happy with night vision scope but love 640 thermal can see them from two farms over. My spotter same engine as the second scope you used here. G'day from southern Victoria.
That's bloody awesome Dave.
Glad you've been able to get some positive info from my videos.
You're spot on with the foxes, not all of them are lamb killers however when they pair up and get the gist of knocking off a few lambs, they can become relentless. Same goes when they have mange or are not 100% healthy for some reason.
Stoked your setup is working so well for you 200yd with IR is sensational.
A 640 scope is a gamechanger for those longer shots when required.
👊👊👊
Is the laser dangerous? Compared to the gun, probably not.......😄🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thought for the day - if you ever are out at night in Oz and you hear '''oi!'' .....run like hell!
Haha. More of a challenge when they run. 😉
Foxes that is. 👌
Thanks for sharing Rod, and for time you take to prepare these videos which are not only entertaining but also educational. Appreciate it mate.
You're a champion buddy.
Thanks for the ongoing support mate 👊
Have you tried playing the sound of a bleating lamb?
You're doing a great job mate. All we need is for fox skin coats to come into fashion and you'll be worth a fortune. I think you'd be too young to remember when fox skins were worth $48 each.
Incredible money for them back in those days John.
There's a saying in Angling, that some fishing tackle is there to catch the Angler & Not necessarily the Fish. I'm very sure the same applies to shooting too - It's as expensive or as cheap as you want it to be. I also shoot with a 43 year old .22 Webley Vulcan springer which I've had from new.
Good quality reliable gear is a must imo especially for contract work mate
You shooting foxes and edge of the outback shooting cats, both posted on the same day. What more could a native wildlife supporter ask for? I live in the ACT and it is infested with foxes and cats. They even have them inside the Tidbinbilla nature reserve happily eating the potoroos and all other small natives. The rangers know what is needed but the government of the Peoples’ Republic of the ACT doesn’t support them couldn’t give a rat’s arse about native wildlife or feral pest control.
I'd more than happily come down and stick it to them if given the opportunity mate. Bureaucracy at it's best 🤦♂️
I saw your other vid where u got 40+ foxes. Was that in 1 nght?! Absolute proof right there that they need controlling. Are fox even native to Australia?
No mate. They're an introduced pest, certainly not native to Australia.
I’ll be scared when I hear gud day walking in the dark
😅😉
Great work on the lamb predators and great shooting as always mate 👍
Cheers mate 👌
I know fox's can be a pest, but these didn't even look interested in the lambs. Some were even moving away. Clean kills most of them shots though.
Interested or not, all introduced pests get the same treatment mate
14:30 I love how loud and aggressive you’re yelling at the Fox. Then it turns out it looked at him like bitch. What the fuck do you want.
Lol. I just wanted to introduce myself 😉
The hare eRODgenous, the hare! I can hardly contain myself - you'll be the death of me, you will.
Haha. Always a spectacle 😬
i like to see introduced vermin being got rid of. i think of all the native species that people like you are saving. foxes and feral cats can and do impact native wildlife and need to be irradicated. foxes will break into a henhouse, kill all the chickens and not take one to eat. bloody feral pests. keep up the good work mate, you are a legend.
Really appreciate that mate. Thanks 👊
Mate the spaghetti bol looks delightful but it looks like you forgot to put the teabag into the water😂. Love your videos bro. Makes me itch to get out and shoot myself.
Thanks mate.
It was a piss weak brew but still hits the spot on a long cold night. 👌
You did not get any cats but KFC Hollywood did but you are lowering the number of foxs well done love your vidios
Thanks Paul
Great footage mate. First time viewer and enjoying a lot. On a side note I knew a Peter Kerr years ago in the Southern Tablelands area.
Who knows. Might even be the same bloke 😉
Welcome to the channel mate 👍
I only got one this Lambing season :( I used a 225/75R 16 to great effect :/ It's a good thing those Foxes don't survive to let the others know it is fatal to stop and look :) Where's the fun in using that Lazer as a spotter? Seriously isn't it more enjoyable walking in circles for 30 minutes and getting wet to the knees and socks full of grass seeds - - - - I Bloody love it !!!!!!! :)
Haha.
Pmsl on all accounts.
One way to save on ammo 👌
How good is the laser 😎
It;s not just good. It;s the best idea I've ever seen :O@@RJMHuntingAustralia
Would you believe it, I am going to be tucking into my Toblerone very soon. The only good fox is a dead fox dude.
Haha.
Yum. 😅
Very impressed with that 378m fox, what twist barrel do you have? what weight of bullets are you using too? I have a tikka t3x 1-12 using 53gr v max, haven't pushed that far but would be awesome to give it a go, on targets first obviously! Hoping your set up might be similar. 👍
It's a 1 in 12 twist and I run 55gr Adi factory ammo with the Sierra Blitz Kings mate. 👌
@@RJMHuntingAustralia Nice. My biggest obstacle when trying to practice longer range is the wind. I'm on the coast of Cornwall. But one day it'll come right and I better be ready to get out there !! I'm zerod so far at 200yd, 3 shots at .9" so not a bad basis to work from.
Great video mate. That was nice shooting. Keep on shooting those foxes 🦊
Cheers mate 👍
Outstanding shooting once again..love your style mate..keep it up..👏👏👍
Thankyou Charlie 👊
Good video Rod. 👍 that laser looks like it’s pretty handy! Keep up the good work 💪
Thanks Josh, it worked an absolute treat. 👌
What battery? I'm hoping 18650.
Have any mounting tips for the laser?
Hold up Mr. Coyote. Let's have a conversation. LOL
Just a polite introduction that's all. 😎
Great video again mate i love how you show sometimes its not safe so you wait patiently and get the rewards
Most important part of firearm ownership buddy 👊👊
"Not many foxes" !! By UK standards, that property in infested lol
Hahaha, I have had some epic nights on them this year. I swear there's a fox farm nearby 😅
Nice shooting mate what scope were you using first mate love you video cheers
First couple of nights was the Pulsar Thermion2 Pro XP50 LRF mate
Mate that was some excellent shooting, those shots over 300 were wicked, love ya work Rod, keep the great content coming mate cheers Yogi 👍
Thanks again Yogi, you're a champion mate. 👊
That’s excellent shooting there Rod. I saw an old video you did with Eagle Eye HG with you using an ATN with the ABL. It’s fascinating to see how much the technology has changed . Your overall setup has evolved into something that is very sophisticated. This is a great development for farmers and pest control shooting in my view. It only helps you to find them. The shooter still has to finish the job the old fashioned way. I really enjoy watching your videos. They give me good ideas for my own shooting. I have to be honest I am a big fan of Eagle Eye gear. I have accumulated a fair bit of it now. It’s funny how that happens. I refuse to add up what I’ve spent on this addictive hobby.
We're very spoilt for choice when it comes to quality gear these days mate.
The golden rule is to never add up what we've spent. 😉😅
@@RJMHuntingAustralia Definitely don’t leave the receipt’s sitting around for wives to see.
😅🤦♂️
6:27 "get that up ya" 🤣🤣 funny as !! Nice shot too !!
Thanks mate 👊
G'DAY COBBER!, IM FROM THE UK ROD AND PRETTY NEW TO THIS SO MAY SOUND BIT STUPID BUT,WHAT DO YOU DO WITH ALL THE FOXES ONCE THEY HAVE BEEN ASSASSINATED? 😎
Sehr gute Videos, sehr guter Schütze.Wünsche mir mehr davon
Thank you 👊
378m get that up ya... 😂😂😂
Lol. I find it hard to contain my excitement sometimes. 😅
Is that green laser powered by 18650?
Sorry if asked already
No mate. It runs on a cr123 battery
@@RJMHuntingAustralia 😭😭😭...I have lots of 18650...dislike the cr123...I'll have to research them.
Are you using the laser much?
An Aussie double, how good is that !! 👍🏼🏴
Love your new toys Rodney that is super cool 😎.
Thankyou Sharon 👊
Another great session, just set up my Hick as a dedicated scope, should have gone the clip on I can't signt in as accurately as I would like my .223 would shoots fairly good less than 1" at 100 with factory ammo, but tweeking the Thunder does not seem to have the same precise adjustment of the magnification is too llw for me to sort out my stuff at 100, bkt dissapointed with the Hick Thunder, mh Infirah CH 50 V2 is far superior. Great segment again, thanks.
If you zoom in while adjusting the zero coordinates you can move in smaller increments mate
9.06 "it;s been a slow night" Rodney says ! Not surprised fella. You've shot most of the bloody Foxes already .Staggering where they all come from though. Keep up the great work.👍👍
Haha. Thanks Barry 👊
LOVE the Oi ! makes me laugh every time🤣..
Works well too. 👌
RJM keep up the great work and look forward to the next one.
Thanks mate, will do! 👌
Just in awe of your skill......I have thought you're more accurate than that other bloke E of the O 😄 though maybe he edges it on the dry humour.....cracking channel, thank you
Cheers mate.
Apparently I'm better at being old and cranky according to my wonderful children 😅
Best fox hunting video of all time, by anyone, in any country !
Absolutely outstanding.
Cheers
Thanks champion 👌
Great shooting, again. The farmers must be chuffed with the results.
They're thrilled, shocked, but thrilled. 👌
I do quite a bit of fox shooting here in the UK for local sheep and poultry farmers. Do Wild dogs/dingo's cause many problems among sheep farmers?
No so much in this particular area mate however there are many regions where wild dogs absolutely decimate sheep populations and have forced many of the farmers to get out of the sheep industry all together 😪
Fantastic video Rod , and great shooting mate 👍
Thankyou Shane 👊
All excellent... But why the hare? Unless it's for the pot. As far as I know a hare has never killed a lamb.
Hi from Porto, Portugal, I love your videos, keep up the great work.(Please excuse my English)
You're English is terrific 👌👍
Thankyou for supporting my channel mate 👊
I like the "G'Day" before the shot
Thanks mate. So do I 😉
Need Toblerone?? We have plenty here in Holland!
Yummo, I'm on the next plane 😅
I love Toblerone.. but it’s a mess if you don’t know the special way to break the triangles. Good shooting mate, thanks for the upload.
Practice makes perfect with the Toblerone mate. 😅
Are you happy with the ecoflow river 2? Im thinking of getting the small one. Mainly for camera gear and phone. Great shooting and well done on eradicating a few more. 👍
Dude, I really rate it mate.
Super happy with it. Perfect for my needs. 👍👍👍
great video mate....love your work
Thanks mate 👍
nice shooting i am out tonight with my 223 also 😁
Thanks mate.
Good luck 👍
Great shout out to that kids dad and really enjoying your channel
Thanks mate. Much appreciated 👊
What a great LR shot, reached out and touched him!
Thanks Jim 👊
Awesome Hunt my friend keep going love too watch many more from you. Much love from UK
Cheers mate 👍
378 yds Good shot 👍! Ballistic correction app would have been handy too 😉.
I had to resort to the Strelok app on my phone as I've found the Pulsar one unreliable. 😪
@@RJMHuntingAustraliastrelok does seem reliable...that's my go to...strelok pro...with reticle option... essential
Absolutely mate 👍
Bloody good posting , How harder load do you use ?
