Was that an old rail bed you were on at that spot? - - - 4:40 - WOW, those trestle bridges are super nice with all the spots to stop for lunch or rest! Do you know if the Alberta G'vmt put money into those or was that done by a local group or G'mnt? Good stuff! Thanx for sharin'!
Most of this trail is the old rail line including that spot, some places even still have the old wood ties. Not 100% sure who paid for everything but I’ve been told it was a joint venture between club and government. They did a really nice job and it’s not even finished yet.
How many KMs from Nordegg to Saunders on the rail trail. I am.planning to do via peddle bike (Gravel bike). It is a one way trail, not a loop going back to Nordegg. Any info is appreciated.
Some of it yes but there’s a few sections that get pretty rough. I would recommend an enduro at the least. If you watch the Timelapse video I have it will show you the entire trail.
Great video. Just did this ride and it was awesome. Staged at Saunders rode to Nordegg for lunch, then rode up to the look out tower at mount baldy. Great day of riding.
Thank you! That’s a great ride up to the lookout, I got some content of the lookout that I still need to edit (coming soon). Did you do the northern loop to the north of fire lookout? There’s some pretty crazy mud holes out there.

There’s lots of staging areas but a good spot is the Saunders Creek old townsite. Town the road is some good open spots as well.
