Apollo Phantom Review - I Tried Ludo Mode

The Apollo Phantom electric scooter in V3 form has a Mach 1 controller and when you activate LUDO mode you get access to the maximum power the dual 1200w motors can give you - which feels like well over 3000 watts. The 52v 23.4ah battery charged to max can discharge rapid enough for a thrill peaking out at a top speed of 41 mph, but when you chill out you can get significantly better range than seen in my Apollo Phantom review.
Cool review as always! As an apollo owner (twice over) i can confirm two things: 1) their scoots are fun as heck 🎉, 2) their custom service is awful 😖
you forgot #3, they appear to have some serious QC issues with their scooters. I saw some pics on Reddit of Apollo's where the neck just snapped off. Well, you can't confirm that if you haven't had your scooter snap on you I guess. But I've seen what I'd call an concerning number of cases of this happening. Add in a decent number of people complaining about their customer service. It would be a tough brand to support.
With that said, I own a Kaabo and outside of their CS being fairly responsive, I have nothing else positive to say about their customer service. It seems like par for the course unfortunately when it comes to scooters. And the crazy thing is both Apollo & Kaabo are what I'd call luxury brands as far as scooters go.
@@Bigheadedwon I've got a 2023 Phantom & I heard of a recall for those necks. Mine takes a 12mm hex wrench to tighten the stem, but my brother got his Phantom a few months after I did, and it's just flat underneath the stem. I've had good experiences with them, my brother's scooter was damaged during delivery (just a rear fender that got bent, and they FedEx'd the replacement part the next day.
Not gonna ignore the history of "sell it then forget it", but I've been an Apollo customer since Feb this year, bought 3 scooters, a bunch of upgrades and it's been really good. If I needed a part, they'd help me identify it. No matter what though, you do need to get your own tools & be a bit of a tinkerer to keep scooters healthy, but it's been so worth it. One thing I'd like to see improved immediately is the schematics for each scooter, not just scooter type, containing all the details about bolts, parts, sizes, materials so you don't end up buying the wrong or low quality stuff. My brother's Phantom is ~4 months older than mine & it's a very different design.
I can't begin to share how alone I was when it came to upgrading the OEM brakes on the Phantom to Nutt Hydraulics.
fr I needed a bolt for my scooter and they didn't have it in stock they did provide me with the specifics of what bolt I needed so they helped a little
@@Bigheadedwon I think a lot of people breaking their stems are either not maintaining the scooter or not shifting their weight when starting and stopping and instead yanking the handle bars to stay on, that being said apollo did come out with an addition stem brace on the phantoms later after customer complaints

As someone who's driven thousands of miles on the phantom I love the scooter..wish the breaks weren't so loud.. suspension can be a little bumpy.. I think Apollo really missed by not selling the phantom with a steering down there a lot of injuries because of that. Wish the battery and deck design was more thought out.. I keep thinking about getting an upgrade but I do love that break throttle and Apollo's the only one who has it.
I cant wait for him to try a Nami scooter.
I was considering this scooter since it seems decent for the price but some people have had their phantom stem snap in half..
not something you want at high speed, just trying to make people aware before buying!
I put 2000 kms on mine (since July this year) & I weigh 195lbs + whatever I carry in my backpack which can be > 30lbs. Never had a flat tire, stem creaked a few times so I just adjusted them & put white lithium in the joints/coupling mechanism.
Ive got two Hero X10 scooters they are significantly better than most scooters for the money. Dual hydraulic brakes. Dual motors. Thumb throttle. Amazing suspension. Good IP rating. Amazing lighting. 30Ah 60V. Weighs a lot. Tubeless 10inch self heal tyres. Top speed very fast. Range 85km. I weigh 105kg.
I am still debating on Nami or Kaabo and also unsure whether to wait till Nami and Kaabo release their 2024 models.

Any way you can review the GTRACING X8 Plus multi Function E Scooter it says it can go 30mph and it has a tf 100 display throttle i can figure out the power settings
I have the 60v v2, I'd say the power is a good sweet spot, nothing crazy but you don't frequently feel the need for more power when riding it, the front motor will spin on accel. mode 5 I ride on 4 most of the time and can get okay traction. For me with gear at around 250 it gets up to 41-43 on flats and 20-24 on very steep hills. Any questions about the scooter I'd be happy to answer if asked

Have you had a chance to ride the Nami Burn-E2 yet?
Did you chance notice at all if you might be able to add a riser to the handlebar stem to make the handlebars higher?
I'm only 5'9" & find them a bit high but acceptable, as does my brother at 5'11". I bet they'd feel a bit low if you're 6' and over.
I'm 6'4 and find them comfortably high enough... how tall are you?!?!
@@RupakShakurI’m only a 1/2 “ taller than you lol. I simply find it taller more comfortable. Closer to my arms being 90 degrees. For example Nami Klima and Burn E2. Which may end up being my decision. I just don’t need that much power. I have 0 need to go 40 m.p.h. +. To each his own.
re: stem failures - I did hear about some stems being recalled & can confirm the current Phantom stem is different from the one I got on the early release. That said, I haven't heard of any 2023 Phantom stems breaking. This is a serious issue so note I could be wrong. I put 2k kms on my Phantom (July '23 model) with no stem issues other than some creaking which I resolved by tightening folding mechanism bolts. I'm 195lbs & I always have a pretty heavy backpack on.
I've heard about the industry leader, Nami, having stem failures. We have to take each very seriously, and Nami got in trouble for blocking stem failure evidence on their Facebook. Yep it's their space to promote, but that's something you don't hide.
There's always gonna be some cowboy who does everything possible to snap a stem & they will succeed, but how much of that is bragging rights & reckless riding. Plus, where did the stem failure post originate, how did it get traction, is there brand hatred going on, etc. Severe weather changes, heavy riders, stunt riding, jumps, repeated curb hopping...
I'm not the type of rider who's gonna be first to break a stem, but 2k kms on a Phantom at my weight, on a half-step version from the current model, should count for something...
Same here got my phantom in june last year and never got a single problem with it. I do check my air pressure before every ride and make sure she is greased and cleaned up. Also she is decent for water proof, i forgot it outside on my deck once and a huge thunder shower passed by and no water made it inside on the scooter. Only some drops made it in the regen break because i did not tape around that lever. But it still works fine even after being in the rain.

Just had mine going 42. I find anything north of, say, 35 to be a bit dangerous for 10" tires.
Exactly, when i go 60km/h on that, its enough i hit 70km/h once and never again lol
There is another piece of protective plastic on the screen......that's why you can't see it. carefully peel from the side. The screen IS bright in daylight.

Pass! That park mode is a recipe for disaster and sounds damn dangerous to me! Nothing beats an old school e scooter with a good old fashioned key and no apps
Thats how I have mine set up, just a key, twist throttle and 3 speed switch no electric brakes, no display

@@alexanderdanezis7772 I own one and i have 0 issues with it, i cant see why people would want more power than it gives and the regen breaks are a dream, i never use my disc breaks. But yeah 0 issues here with the schooter, but i do daily maintenance on it so maybe thats why. a lot of people dont check their air pressure, do not grease it and complains it breaks because they drive like maniacs.
