Wanted you to know... I’m 61, and this is my retirement year. The technology world has been very frustrating and confusing. If it hadn’t been for your UA-cam videos, I don’t know what I would’ve done. Bless you!
I taught for 34 years and retired in 2019. I feel for all of you that are still teaching. I would still be there if I had not been getting sick. I had gotten sick 6 times in the period of 12 months. I was teaching in a much older building that had gotten flooded the previous year. I did not know about that until I thought to ask a custodian. I was shooting for 4-5 more years but, I had to go. A teacher cannot be sick that often. Thankfully, my immune system was able to build back up before the pandemic. Michelle's videos are fantastic. I have been getting ideas from them so I can start my own tutoring business. I have been tutoring for a company that teaches English to students overseas. I really do enjoy it but, with so many of our schools having to go back to virtual education I thought it would be better to help out here, in the US. I have seen the cost of many tutors and there are so expensive. I know that many kids would need it but, I cannot think of many parents who would pay $40. an hour. I just found this video site about 3 days ago and it has been terrific.
You can also save a desktop icon for each Google Account instead of logging out & back in. For instance, on my home desktop, I have my personal Chrome icon, my school Chrome icon, my daughter’s school icon, and our business icon. That way, you just click the desktop icon for the account you need. You can also have more than one open at a time and can toggle back and forth.
Hi there! I am a Science teacher from India and watching your videos since when I had to switch to Online mode of teaching. I am very thankful to you for all your videos. Your videos are not only having good information but good energy and enthusiasm tooo... That's what I love to watch. It has really helped me to improve my Online teaching, keeping records (which was really tough job for me 😀), making good, interesting things for Students. I get inspired and motivated to do more for my students. Thank you sooo...much
We also added pics to our google keep for documentation purposes - take the pic, #the label of the subject (so it automatically sorts it) and add a quick blurb and boom! you have photo evidence of your students' work (especially useful for play observations in kindergarten)
Sundays are my UA-cam PD days. A cup of coffee, my notebook to take notes, and an open mind. Thank you again, Michelle for providing information that is easy to follow.
My Sunday morning routine is to watch your new video while I eat breakfast! I saw a video this week with a Jamboard hack to lock the screen. This person put a textbox over the jamboard and stretched it out beyond the lines of the jamboard. Then they put a second textbox over it. Once they had done that, the images were no longer moveable. Might be something to try out until Google solves this problem. Hope you had a great honeymoon!
You inspire me! I am an avid organizer and train my students to be but after watching you I see that I have a long way to go. If I can do half of what you are doing I'll be golden. You are doing a fantastic job. Stay encouraged and keep the faith. The students love you. Try to remember many are struggling with their inner pain and circumstances. It is not necessarily reflection of you or your teaching. You're a sweetheart. Keep praying. (I sent this comment today to a previous video that you did some years ago. I sent it here to a more current video to make sure that you saw my comment)
I love google chrome too! There are 2 extensions that I love as well. 1. Mindful browsing. You put in sites that distract you like amazon, UA-cam, etc. Then when you go to those sites it says “are you sure you want to use this site?” It also reminds you every 10 minutes, without completely blocking the site. 2 Ecosia. It’s a search engine that works like google or bing, but every 45 searches it plants a tree in an area that needs it most.
I found a way around the jamboard issue for moving things. You can draw a big rectangle on top of what is not supposed to be clickable. Make that rectangle invisible. It worked for me!
I realize I have so much work to do to be more organized. Thank you so much for sharing all your experiences. A new teacher like me really able to get lots of ideas and help by watching your videos. I really appreciate for your time and effort for doing such videos. Have a wonderfuly day ahead. :)
Another video full of helpful information. Thanks Michelle for keeping us all organized. I use google keep everyday after watching your previous video. I hope anyone not using it takes a look. Like you I didn’t like google sheets(or excel) but I’m coming around...slowly 😜
Another tip for using different accounts on Google Chrome, you can make a shortcut for each account. I also use use different themes for each account which makes it super easy to tell if I am using my school account or my personal account!
Hi Michelle...biy you have opened up a new world....I love your drive and your passion for teaching. thanks for the tips. I am trying to get used to google slides...as I absolutely love powerpoint...but I will get there one day. Thanks again...you are simply amazing. Grace from Jamaica
I am really grateful as I came across to your video at first. Now I follow all your videos to be up to date teacher with the technologies. Thank you very much
Hi Michelle, thank you for the video. There's a program that I've been using for years, which I think you will really like. If you like google keep then you should try Microsoft OneNote. It works way better than Google Keep for making notes. You can make notes organize them into notebooks, sections, pages. You can edit text like you would in a typical document editor. You can also make sections protected by a password for any sensitive information. It works on your browser, you can download it for Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android. I definitely recommend it for your notes.
I love all of your digital favorites. This video is definitely getting shared with my teacher friends!! My personal favorite is Google Keep. I use it daily in my job with all of the duties I am responsible for. It keeps me so organized. I’m actually excited to try the Toy Theater math manipulatives with my free math tutoring. When I was growing up, we didn’t have manipulatives to help us with math.
I love Nearpod also but I'm not in a position to pay for a subscription at the moment. Your tip on how to retrieve lessons in order to free up space will be a LIFE SAVER! Thank you!
Math Learning center is a great manipulative option. I like the number pieces. You can also use it as a white board and set up problem and share the page with kids so they can independently work them out. Also they have a great app for multiplication. I love toy theater though! I shared it with my school after you mentioned last time.
CLASS KICK is super awesome as well! it can serve as a virtual worksheet. It grades it. The students can work out problems, you see what they are doing LIVE. You can also provide LIVE feedback by typing or drawing. Students can also use the "raise hand" feature and you can help them or designate student helpers
Thank you, thank you so much for what you do!! For sharing your knowledge through videos in such a calm, encouraging, and exciting way. You always make me feel like “Yeah, I got this!”. Thank you! God Bless you!
Interested to know more about how you prepped your emergency sub plans! Just discovered your page in my last semester of student teaching and have already learned SO much! THANKS!!
Thank you so much! I love what you do and you have lead me immensely with your completely practical and applicable suggestions. Forever fan - right here! So excited about your PD opportunities AND I hope you continue to bring your awesome individual teaching advice!!
Your video and content are engaging... you don't need music in the background and it gets distracting after a while. I was so relieved when it stopped at 8:55
I recommend you to try ExplainEverything! It’s a wonderful infinite whiteboard canvas where you can import your presentations on ExplainEverything and annotate!
This is an off-topic question! Where can I find a desk set up as you have for your Mac desktop computer...long white shelf with two drawers on either end? I've searched all around and nothing quite the same! And, as a Tech. Trainer in crazy times,I too absolutely love your channel and your amazing positive pants attitude!
I'm using google sheets as a digital way to track reading scores for students. I can make a chart for each student and when we are doing our aimsweb reading, I can put the new score on their chart and they can see how their score is growing and make goals
I love your channel. I was wondering when you use Nearpod how to do the students see you and access the Nearpod lesson at the same time? How are your observation completed and what do your observational notes consist of?
Nearpod has an extension on slides so you can just save your slides that way you have them if you run out of storage. I find it easier to create my lesson on slides with the extension.
For math desmo is a good website for actvites. I just did an activity about functions in my class it was a game where my kids guess which function the other person is guessing, my kids loved it.
Thank you so much for this video. I learned a lot. You inspire me a lot. Hopefully I can do somethig similar in the context of our own public school in my UA-cam channel. More power to you!
Superlike! I am a foreign language teacher in Brunei. I really need to know what is/are the good digital tools to deliver the lesson. Thank you so much..love you all!
I have just started following you and want to thank you for all the technology and information you share. One question, do you use a digital lesson planner, if so which one and why?
One of my favorite digital resources is UA-cam, and your channel! Lol Sooo, I bought your trashketball review game last year....my students LOVED it! I really want to use it this year as well, but I’m not sure how it translates to virtual learning. Do you have any ideas? I also use google meet and I was thinking I could somehow put students into break out rooms? Idk, any suggestions would be great!
Hi Allison. Just want to say thanks for your videos. We use the Canvas LMS in our district so I rarely use the Google based applications you do. However, I really enjoy your tips and tutorials using these and other apps because they give me great ideas on how to structure my virtual classes with different activities. By the way, are you familiar with a website called Mentimeter? It's great for interactive slides and ice breakers for your classes. Shameless plug: I made a video about it in my channel.
How do you know all of this? it is amazing I can't believe you shared a way to have it be less confusing and time consuming to get from one account to another I have four accounts as well!
Thank you for your awesome videos. You mentioned writing on your ipad with your apple pencil on a jamboard. How are you using a jamboard on your ipad and sharing it to your google meet? Is it a live share? TIA
Have you ever tried Peardeck. I love a lot about nearpod but, my only struggle to permanently switch is that students will not get a summary of their responses so that they can refer back to them for study purposes. How do you combat this?

Wow thank you. I actually headed to my classroom to start trying out the last four options. Great idea 💡
Another tip for using different accounts on Google Chrome, you can make a shortcut for each account. I also use use different themes for each account which makes it super easy to tell if I am using my school account or my personal account!
I would LOVE to see more of your specific classroom assignments; especially what you have created for ELA.

You can also make a desktop shortcut for each of your google accounts to make it easier to really have that separation. :)
Hopefully, as a new teacher in the making, this video is super helpful. I will be saving this video!
You are Awesome! I am a devloping teacher and I have learned much from your videos. Thank you very much for sharing😀.

Can you share how you achieved the colourful slides with the boarders in your Jamboard, thank you? I love Nearpod..use it everyday.
Please do a video on how to create those Google sheets with checkmarks or just in general tips on using Google sheets, how to add color and font, etc.
Thank you for the advice about a way to save my nearpod assignments. I too can not keep spending money... this has been an expensive year.
You can also use pear deck it’s an interactive google slide
Wow! These are great! Thanks!👍❤️🙏

As always, this has been very informative and helpful, Michellle! Salamat!
Paid version of classroom screen is awesome. I can’t live without it now.
If you don't mind, what is classroom screen? Not familiar with that.

Love your channel! Thank you so much! How do you add the confetti burst and sound effects to your videos?
