I.... don’t like Mark Anthony
@@JoannaHausmann how dare you say that Joanna? Latino card revoked.. 🤣 🤬👎
@@JoannaHausmann I don't like him either and I'm Puerto Rican 😂🇵🇷🇵🇷
Omg why?
I like Marc Anthony music, but I thought the joke was hilarious 😂 😂😂😂
"Taylor Swift is to country music what Despacito is to reggaeton." 👏🏽😂
Beth Diaz Taylor Swift is to cringy music as Despacito is to earrape but Taylor Swift can sing really good and Luis Fonsi too but idk it’s a weird transition for Fonsi tbh.
Hahaha, that was so great! No lo podian explicar mejor!
Despacito isnt reggaeton its pop urbano, the only thing they share is the tumpa tumpa drum pattern
@@bbymariposa5908 that's exactly what the comment is saying
@@sichengbestboy9667 no it isn’t, I was making the distinction as reggaeton and pop urbano only have one thing in common which would be the rythmic patterns outside of that they are two whole separaate entities
If you think reggaetón is the most dirty style, you never heard brazilian funk
Definitely hasn't 😂 Brazilian funk talks straight about sex
I haven't heard it. Can you guys recommend some songs or artists?

Bruhh my girl Joanna is freakin funny af
Fun fact: "Romeo" Santos had to name himself like that 'cause there's already a bachata singer named Anthony Santos, after whom he was named IRL
Ok I get that but his name is Anthony
Bianca Radtke Yes Anthony Santos one of the greatest bachata musicians😤👌🏽

(I have actually no idea what I'm saying. I tryed protunhol ksksksks)

Tango is the sexy soundtrack to your existential crisis. Yep. Pretty much.
If Colombia alone has about 1025 native and aproppriated musical genres , I just can't imagine all the tunes slaying all over the region. This is just absolutely great!
Colombia is one of the most musically diverse places on Earth, I think it is thanks to our amazing cultural and ethnic diversity.
1025? 😮 Like what?
Colombia has amazing music :)
Yet all y’all do is dog and shit and make fun of your “COSTEÑOS” and call them Vulgar Colombians when their musical history is the most popular around the world and has the closest ties to Caribbean music which dominates the globe
Omg Joanna, the Llanera part was so freaking accurate 😂 But you forgot to add a mysterious part like "and I was drinking with my friends when suddenly a ghost appeared and gave us a glare stare" something like that 😂
SUPER ACCURATE THE LLANERA SINGING.
or a random event with some animal like "mercedes y el caiman"
Not to mention the dance: couples furiously clenching to each other while spinning and slamming the floor with their feet ... It's great though, musica llanera is the most overlooked genre
LMFAO a glare stare
FRITTATA!!
Brunch meals are the best metaphores
Joanna Hausmann Just give me a omlete with cheese in the middle and im good
I know this as "Fortaia"
I almost died listening Joanna sings joropo in English. It is exactly the way she explained it. Very, very funny.
😂😂
"is by far the most sexual explicit music" darling have ever heard brazilian funk?
Have you heard Bad Bunny or Anuel As???
@@fathelph lmao brazilian funk is WAY more explicit than that
brzilian funk is just reggaeton in portuguese
sexual explicit musics- in English - modern rap (snoop dog and company),and dance hall/ in Portuguese - funk / in Spanish -reggaeton
wender oropeza no it’s not. it’s a completely different genre.
cumbia is missing, no matter where it's from, you can always dance to it
Cumbia is colombian
Komnenit yeah Colombia is Latin, also Cumbia traveled all the way to Mexico they just don't use it in the same way, there's many Mexican singers that have some Cumbia songs like Selena
Even in Argentina
@@Komnenit its huge in argentina mexico chile peru and most of latin america

Cumbia has a lot of influence from various countrys
I prefer the peruvian one myself
It doesn't really have an owner per se
5:14 I'm Dominican, I totally know what you mean HAHAHAH it's the guitar. That's when you make "the guitar cry", and bachateros say things like "llora guitarra" (cry, guitar!)... I'm not saying it's a rule, but it's truly a pattern 😂
Hanely del Rosario omg so even the guitar is crying lol
Lol, that's correct !
Don’t nobody like those besides y’all tho lol
@@orquideaferoz445 ok buddy,us Mexicans and Brazilian people love it,my white girl friends love it,my Colombian neighbor loves it,my black teacher loves it and many other Latino countries like it not just Dominican and Puerto Ricans....the fact that you can't dance it,is something different.
not_ jairoo burned him
The interaction between Joanna and Chris is everything 😂
Well, there is nothing like Juan Luis Guerra when he says "I want to be a fish so I can get wet in your fishbowl"
🤣 and still that song is poetic
My favorite singer ever
ah yes, elegant euphemisms
SHE MARRIED A COLOMBIAN!!!! 🇨🇴
She's VERY Venezuelan... xD
Y de Cali
Thank goodness,i thought she just married a random American white guy,not that there is anything wrong with it
She married a colombian, from Cali " la capital de la salsa" nonetheless. Lots and lots of salsa dancing.
It'd be great to watch them fight over arepas and joropo.
Hola, me llamo Susie y soy Irlandesa.

"ALL latin american music sounds the same to me" "I can't tell the difference"
Just. Stop. It.
Tipico response to Latin music .
I agree
I'm Colombian. My Indian husband always says this when I put on Latin American music, and it's just like... sigh...
😂 Tango and Merengue are quiet differnt.
I don’t know how it all sounds the same to them when there are clear differences
In Brazil there is something more explicit than Reggaetón.: Funk Carioca

Also because argentinians are mostly from Europe, I still dont get these latino stereotypes we are all supposed to look nativo and listen to rancheras o salsa , my dad is from El Salvador he listens to alot of rock and hip hop.
Not too long ago I spoke to a mexican living in la ciudad de mexico that was saying he mostly listens to punk rock and most of the punk he grew up listening to was either from the U.K o Espana.
I listen to hip hop and various subgenres of latino music and dont even listen to much punk or metal anymore btw.
@@gregDino32 There’s a lot of rock bands from Mexico….Mexicans aren’t as easily defined. Mexicans listen to everything from mariachi to salsa, Banda , rock, pop, Reggaeton to Cumbia and hip hop
By the way, amo Argentina 🇦🇷 🇵🇪!!!
That instrument in bachata is typically an acoustic electric guitar with a light chorus effect on it

Loved that you mention Rock Nacional Argentino!!!
Why does everyone ignore that Puerto Ricans had a huge hand in the development of salsa music?!!!!
Even when it came to Reggaetón she couldn't force herself to say it came from the Underground Movement that came from Puerto Rico. Like damn... and then said that she didn't know Merengue is Dominican? Seriously???
We do. New York-Ricans perfected it, but it's a long story and a short video, don't take it the wrong way... Also, her mom is Cuban so she is biased. Just as biased as she is about música llanera, arepas and tequeños... lol. Can you tell by that last part I'm Colombian? It's all good people, we Latinos gotta stick together and support each other.
Can't image someone that can barely speaks Spanish making anything good.
lol. Kidding, they must be good at something? Oh yeah, bragging they're part of the U.S. ツ
Yes and no. Cuban created the proto-salsa. It's was created in New York and went back to the islands
Y'all got Elvis Crespo and Hector Laboe, and Cuba had Celia Cruz
You missed the vallenato, not that I like it but all vallenateros sing is about how their significant other cheated on them. Also, you should bring Luis Silva or Armando Martinez next time and do a contrapunteo 😂😂😂
The predominant themes of vallenato now are trash, its basically pop music and love. Topics can get vey weird like a song of a steamroller, songs of someone being a cow and another one a bull it can get weird
En carne viva by Scarlett Linares issa bop
Don't forget VallenaTON
silvestre dangond is the best vallenatero
My mom is latina but I don't know a lot about the latin community and culture and your channel is so helpful and interesting and I love it! It's important for me to learn this stuff, I feel closer to my mom after learning what you teach me! Thank you!
I loved how you went directly to explained how Salsa is so good done and assemble, to vanish the stereotype that is only a dancing genre with a lot of steps, and with what better than with the best example ever! the songs of our Rubencito! The best part of it is that at the end, there is the protest feeling and the history telling in the lyrics, but still you can dance it! simply genious!
i feel deeply ofended as an argentinian even though i can’t dance tango
Jajajajajaja
🤣🤣🤣

Relax
Me encantan tus videos! me siento TAN identificada! Por favor siguelos haciendolos!
You're so hilariously well-spoken!! Loved it

You described "Pedro Navaja" perfectly! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Latin music sounds all the same? That's because they don't know Brazilian Music 🇧🇷! As a country of continental proportions, we are proud of having diverse genres, such as Sertanejo, Funk, Samba, Pagode, MBP (Brazilian Popular Music), Bossa Nova, Axé, Forró, Brega, Pop, Rock, Rap, Hip-hop, Gospel [...]
We invite everyone to know more about Brazilian music. 😉

Latin music is by far one of my genres of music. Merengue, bachata and salsa are just amazing.
The best concert that I have ever been to was when “El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico” came to Australia for their 50th anniversary. It was just so amazing. The music, the dancing, the atmosphere. So perfect.
Willie Colon was good too but El Gran Combo were beyond amazing.
Joanna, when are you gonna release your album?
OMG yes. :D
Oh God don't give ideas
2020? You will be the only person to buy an album
I'm Cuban. So salsa will always be my favorite. But I can always get behind some Dominican merengue.

Confirmo que los argentinos no bailamos nada. Los japoneses bailan tango por nosotros. Solamente saltamos y cantamos.
We all know that moment in the party when you dancing merengue with your soul and the music changes and a salsa comes by you slowly get away for you dancing partner saying your going to drink something, and scape , but in the bottom is you head you are just dancing that song like you know what you doing while in the outside your just walking away saving eye contact and moving your feet simulating dancing

what u want from me ? ... we speak a different language, that is what i was saying.
look for Guitarrada on google... is from where i live.
and because the North of Brazil rocks!!!! :) But yes, we are latinos, c'mon
DCampusano1 - You're very right, and it's funny. I've read blogs about it: "are Brazilians latinos?" Pleazzzz.
I'm Brazilian. My dad says Portuguese is a useless language, and that we'd be much better speaking Spanish because it only served to isolated us from the Latin America. In other words, we've been isolated because of the language barrier. Ok, that's an exaggeration, Portuguese is beautiful. But...true it hasn't helped.
Only recently (internet? zumba?) we started to massively consume Latin music and culture.
Hey, more power to us! But I promise you, we've always been proud of being part of Latin America.

your assessment on raggaeton is so on point! and the only things that change is the lyrics, but the tempo and everything else does not!
Mexican Son Jarocho ALSO uses the harp... yay! We're somehow connected to Venezuela!!
There's a greater connection between Veracruz and Venezuela. In Spanish colonial times, there was immense trade between Maracaibo and Veracruz, as there was between Cartagena, Colombia and Veracruz. There was tremendous cross-pollination of idioms, accents, foods, and musical styles. What also facilitated this cross-pollination was the fact that the majority of Spanish sailors were Andalusians, people with great love of percussive instruments, "zapateado", and guitar music from any type of guitar and harp.
Well, thats probably because Venezuela was the only South American Territory that was part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain (Mexico), so it has a lot of conexion with them. The rest of the spanish land in the Americas was agrupated in the Viceroyalty of Peru.
Paraguay folk music relies heavily on the harp//

In short, I TOTALLY APPRECIATED AND LOVED THIS EPISODE SO THANK YOUUUUU!!!!! 😂❤️
You missed a lot girl, very important styles of Latin music: Trova Cubana, Vallenato Colombiano, Canto Nuevo Chileno, Bossa Nova and Samba from Brazil, Bolero. To that you can add all those different regional styles like: Norteno and Banda from Mexico, Candombe from Uruguay, etc etc
Make a video about them...please!
Yes super ignorant
@@clippersf how is it ignorant? You’re acting like she can make an hour long video of all of those other genres 🙄 grow up. She went over the most popular genres.
She mentioned at the end most of the types you mentioned and said the ones she named are just examples of many.
Omg! Finally someone said it. JB’s Despacito is utter rubbish.
Esto merece una segunda parte... 😊 we love our music
The Colombian🇨🇴 coasts (caribbean and pacific) have my favorite latinamerican music ¡Que música tan sabrosa!. In general, I like the Caribbean music from Latin America (salsa, merengue, bachata).

You forgot the cuarteto in Argentina and the diferent kind of cumbias, but i loved the video, really F truth all you said
Augusto Paredes lol right? I’m Argentinian and 1000% agree with what she said about Argentina.
She forgot Cumbia but she was just going to address mainstream genres.
Romeo Santos is to Bachata what Taylor Swift is to Country music. Nor is he the most famous Bachatero. Anthony Santos, Frank Reyes, Juan Luis Guerra, Hector Acosta, Yoskar Sarante, Henry Santos, that’s real bachata.
Please don’t fail Dominicans like that.
Juan Luis Guerra is my shit
But he is more famous tho, from the others you mentioned the only one really famous is Juan Luis Guerra. Might not be the real thing, but Romeo is better known internationally
Well I prefer Romeo Santos songs over most of them though.
You did forget Zacarías Ferreira!!
What about Prince Royce?
Amen panita!
Those merengue moves ehhh
Bachata is LIFE!
My favorite Latin music is cumbia. Listening to it and dancing to it is awesome.
As for the most sexually explicit, that title goes the music you hear at a Baile Funk in Brazil. It goes to a whole 'nother level. Maybe Latin Trap comes in a close second.
Love this! Wish you would’ve talked about Colombian vallenato and their influence on Dominican music. Also more on cumbia. Love your channel!
Spanish Pop from the 80’s 90’s and Early 00’s is my favorite!
Fantastic presentation, and you gettin me up to speed :)
Llora guitara, llora
BRO HER MENTIONING ROMEO'S REAL NAME IS ANTHONY HAD ME ROLLING ON THE FLOOR!
Also, just a moment of a appreciation for Romeo Santos because...he's Romeo Santos and honestly why would you need another reason?
I'm Latina and even I learned some new things
You're simply The Fucking Best ! Had so much fun... thank you to include Bossa Nova and Samba... so as u said last video about Brazil... sometimes we don't fit... we just made it happens ! Love u already... Chrix u r so funny as well
I think Huayno is very interesting. It is a genre born in the Andes and it mixes arp, pan flute, charango (some kind of guitar), quena and sometimes violin or accordion 😍
Johana me recordó esa anécdota.

wow never heard of it! I'm gonna look it up, thanks!!!
I did look it up, sounds like carnavalito!
FRITATAAAAAAA!!!!
Auxilio, Joanna, estás bien locaaaaaa, te queremos!
Yes, indeed, there's a ton of different music genres in Latin America, I personally don't like reggaeton (there's nothing reggae-ish in it), but some my favorites are vallenato and son jarocho; this last one is from the state of Veracruz, in the gulf of México, and, by the way, it includes an insaaaaane amount of harp parts/solos, I find it lovely, maybe you would like it!
Ok so I'm literally waiting for my flight to depart like literally inside the plane and I decide to watch Joanna's video and that English version of joropo just killed me so hard I have to ask for water to the flight attendant cause I couldn't stop laughing hahahahaha hahaha I'm still dead hahahahaha hahahaha it's so good omg!!!
Also, loved this, though it would've been amazing being able to listen to a sample of the genres while you were describing them :(
Loving that you mentioned Ruben Blades’ songs! Panamá en la casaaaaa
i'm guessing other latinos have underestimated the sexual explict lyrics that we have in brazilian funk so if you think reggaeton is that bad please listen to "grelinho de diamante" and "abecedario da putaria" and see it for yourself lol
Maybe because youre the only country that listens to it? When it comes to Brazilian music only once in a blue moon does a Brazilian song become catchy enough to reach the Spanish Speaking world. Personally, As a Jazz fan I listen to Brazilian Bossa Nova, because its the chillest Jazz there is.
I died LOL. The only one I hate is bachata because of the shrill background music you mentioned. Dear Lord it is like nails on a chalkboard.
would that instrument be the guira? because thats the only "weird" instrument in bachata. if its not that then maybe it the guitar?? actually maybe its the guitar. they make it sound like that
I love all Spanish music it just all so amazing
It's a guitar. The guira is like a comb running running through lil dots on a metal cylinder. If the guitar doesn't cry, is it even bachata tho? Lmao jks.
In bachata the instruments are okay but every singer sounds like trying to sing in falsetto while they are nasally constipated.

Hi J I'm gonna say something unrelated to the video but sorry, I have to say it cuzz ur originality! And fck I'll say it in Spanish cuz that's the f*ck I want. Ur truly good at what you do.
The instrument that makes that noisy sound in Bachata is actually a GUITAR 😂😂😂 without the GUITAR THERE'S NO BACHATA 😂😂😂
The same Guitar thats used in Rock i.e Electric Guitar. You'd think this would be obvious to anyone with two ears.

Yes yes yes

Wow I didn’t hear Puerto Rico mentioned in its contribution to Salsa and reggaetón 😒
Edi L what do you expect? they always will be down to diminish us in everything we do. They just can't stand that we have so many artist specially in those two genres(salsa and reggaeton) and they are purposely making us invisible but they yell "latino pride" (to make themselves feel included i guess) when they see for example DY or Bad bunny making it big worldwide. The thing is, we might find the cure of cancer or find the fountain of youth they will always going to say that someone else in their countries did it first. It is just how they are.
yea they allways forget the caribbean, she dosent mentiin Dominican Republic with the bachata
I think she’s a hater.
I totally agree, she should have mentioned PR for salsa. I’m a Dominican and tbh most of the salsa that I hear are from a selective few Puerto Rican’s and a small hand of Dominicans and Cubans.
"the most sexually explicit music i've heard"

Yeah I totally learned new moves on my recent cruise I thought at one time I lost control of my feet
I can't love this more because I hear 'Spanish music sounds the same' all the time! Big ups to your Ruben Blades conundrum. It's a little troublesome...especially cuando te entra el ritmo de (insert genre here).
Me, a Mexican waiting for Rancheras, Banda, and Cumbia 👁👄👁
