Take the tail gate apart and literally soak all the mechanisms is wd40 and work the lever back and forth and also check to see if the latch system is even hooked up. Easy job I promise

Jake 1024 mclaren went back to philly I believe? Had to replace an oil line. VW is as Shane’s diesel performance warehouse. Grandpa should be back shortly. Giving it a month till it’s back
I literally only stay up late to catch your videos right when they come out. Keep up the great content! Also your Blazer build and Jeep builds have inspired my 2004 Grand Cherokee build!
finally, a build i can relate to (somewhat)! turning 16 in less than a month, and my first truck is a 95 silverado extended cab, and that’s right, she’s mean n green. love this build already and i can’t wait to see what’s in store for er!
Mike I was wondering if I could have those wheels and tires off the Jeep once you get your new wheels and tires. I want to retro fit them on my 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee
It was the oil line to one of the Turbo's and he sent it to McLaren Phillidelphia to have it fixed and I'm guessing it's been done for a while cause he hadn't made videos with it he's probably just storing it there
LMC Truck has everything you need for the Dirtymax or the Blazer or the new build. For your Jeep Quadratech is your best bet and they are a Pennsylvania based company if I remember correctly, they also have an annual open house/tent sale/Jeep show.
That OBS truck now sounds like my 95 Yukon. I cut the muffler off of it, due to rust issues and I was worried it would be too loud to drive, but I've been daily driving it for almost 2 years and it's been absolutely amazing!
When you fix the endgate, be sure to use some dry lube on it.....makes all the difference. I used to have a bunch of army surplus spray-on dry lube and it was the nads on endgates.
If u get body work done spray wd40 in all the body panels you can (doors, bedsides, tailgate) on a hot day and just let it soak in. Once the oil is in there moisture won't soak in
To fix the tailgate, go to the automotive store and get "Morpar Penetrating Fluid" its great stuff. Remove the plastic latch cover and spray the mopar fluid down both hand rods as well is in the latches that are located on the sides of the tailgate. Then hold tailgate in the closed position, while leaning against the end gate pull the handle as if you are trying to open the end gate and push or release handle. Continue to pull and release handle a few times and the tailgate should start functioning properly again. Please like so he sees.
This will make an excellent restoration project, I grew up with these trucks, I remember my dad had 2 of those truck, one was a 93 C1500 v6 5 speed, and the other was a 92 K3500 Dually. I've always dreamed of buying one myself to restore, and I especially want one of the 1988-1998 body styles.
Liking the older truck projects. I know you need another build project (not), but you know what would be cool, keeping with the vintage projects you have, would be to build a late style C4 street Corvette canyon racer. '91 to '96 style. That is a really affordable platform to buy, and build. All came stock with formula one suspension, with the flip nose, and are easy to work on. Very light, great power plant. Even better '94 thru '96 with refined Opti. It would be a full circle move too. A lot of us subscribed when you had your early C4 project. Great content as always. Best to the Bulls.
I can't wait to see this when your done. My first vehicle was a 1990 chevrolet Silverado standard cab short bed with the 5.7 felt fast and was so fun as a first vehicle
Jordan Burchett - My first truck was exactly the same! 4x4 with the 6-lug "wagon wheel" rims. I still miss Bertha. She was a powder blue factory colour. I repainted her in GM Deep Indigo Metallic Pearl. She was a good girl. Had to sell her when I moved to the states.
I don't believe Mike knows what the term "Resto-Mod" truly means. So unfortunately I don't think you'll see a late model engine and suspension swap, which is the heart of all resto-mod projects. It would have been nice to see an LS Swap, hooked to a TREMEC TKO 5-Speed, or Magnum 6-Speed, then completely do over the suspension with nice drop and Hotchkiss suspension for road handling. And finish it off with a hot set of road wheels and tires.
side steps would make good ramps for the four wheeler. Google or Amazon "Ospho metal treatment" the stuff works awesome on rust and it stops the rust from continuing. Try it, gaurantee you'll like it
Anyone else would rather see the Blazer restored/restomodded, I think it would look amazing if he would get the Blazer's rust issues fixed and properly repainted etc.
Frame and underside of any truck if you want to get it super clean and all the "stuff" off of it, use easy off oven cleaner and a pressure washer. Takes off everything so u can recoat it and not seal rust and stuff in under paint or undercoat. Spray it wait 30 min and rinse. Works killer!!
Mike has like 12 hours a day that can be spent searching marketplace for the great deals while Steve is out there wrenching on cars and dealing with code enforcement and kids.
put the tailpipe back on and In the space in between, where the muffler was, put in a glass pack or a straight piece of pipe. I had a '97 Silverado with the Vortec 5.7/350 & it was straight piped & the cats were emptied out, It ended up very loud & sounded great... Keep the great vids coming bud, I love the OBS GM pickups & suv's and like seeing the old vehicle builds. Nice buy btw, Great Deal!!
Tailgate handle and linkage needs lube, Been awhile since I had that body syle but i know they dry up and stop working.👍,,,now on with the rest of the vid.
Perfect timing as i plan to get my third obs next year which will be my first 4x4. Already own a 91 reg. Cab stepside and a 95 ext cab. Keep up the great work Mike!
If you want this to be a proper restomod, you need cut all the rust out. It will make the finished product that much better. You need to keep it with a 90s theme, IMO. 16" American Racing Outlaw II or AR23, 285/75/16 tires (no lift) and maybe a grille update.
Not to mention body filler just exposed like that is just absorbing moisture. He thinks it’ll take a while to rust out but with all the rain in P.A. and it constantly absorbing and holding moisture like that I wouldn’t be too sure.
Mike exposed body filler like that is going to be a massive problem especially with all the rain you get. Body filler ABSORBS moisture. So each time it gets wet it is literally just trapping that moisture against the body. The rust is going to need to be cut out and properly repaired for this truck to have any sort of life span.
I did fiberglass on a blazer back in the day. Sanded it down, bondo, it looked great. However, you could see stress cracks in the black paint from the bondo
Next OBS build (after restoration) 😂 Lowered truck build. He’s got the off-roader and he’s going to do the restoration, then do the other end of the spectrum with a lowered obs truck (if he does another one) 🙂
I admit I was concerned when I first saw that truck, it looked rough but after seeing the undercarriage... Wow someone took care of that truck for a lot of years.. Probably some old man. That's a great find.

Not really POS old vehicles but vehicles that most viewers could afford.
