Some of my best road trips have been on the seat of an old tractor. Its amazing the treasures that you can find on a country road at about 10 or 12 mph. Once when I was about 15 my dad accidentally bought a very nice Allis Chalmers CA with 2 bottom plow for a below bargain price. He opened the bidding just to get things going and then walked away to look at another piece of equipment. A friend asked him how he was going to get his new tractor home which was about 50 miles away. I thought wow what an opportunity. Dad said I could drive it and away I went. What beautiful farm country I saw that day. That was just the start of my tractor voyages for which I've had hundreds.
I know this video is a little different from my "regular programming" but I just wanted to update my fellow outsiders on what I've been up to. Any ideas on what to name my little tractor?
@The outsider. After the encounter with the porcupine on the "tractor road trip." I thought name it "porky" after the porcupine. I know this is 5 years ago but what did you end up naming it? I'm new to your channel so have not herd about the name you chose, and return for my outsider foraging fix now and again, very comical this film ;)
Wow, this reminds me of the day I ferried an open tractor from Cambridge to Grand Valley, nearly 30 years ago, sticking to quiet roads used by Mennonite buggies. Slow going, but a great road trip.
I had a VA Case tractor for over 30 years cut lots of fire wood pulled hundreds of stumps . Get mud chains had a 500 foot driveway to plow the mud chains did the trick !!! Great series love your videos The Case was a Ford model T 4 cylinder engine with bearings instead of brass bushings like the T engine !!!
I've watched this video 3 years ago and i wanted to watch it again but i could find the right video finally after 8 months of searching finally found it again it's jan,23,2021 as of today and i love this video
Ah man I love the look of the cases just how friggin narrow the hood is just looks awesome, I might cross country on one for charity, that’s a good idea I’ll have to remember that
It’s unrelated but: The tractor story - been there, done that, just not on an old tractor but on an old motorcycle - by myself. The middle of nowhere in the darkness was an experience I’ll never forget. A friendly farmer saved my butt by selling me some gas. Back in the day we were friendlier to one another.
+Thomas Murfitt Good for you! I'd love an old pickup like that. Stuff built back in that time period never seems to die. Nowadays, most vehicles are lucky to last past 10 years.
+OutsideFun1 that is very true haha my truck door has more metal on it then most cars do now a days. It looks like you could really use my truck for your cabin build. My goal is to build my own cabin when I'm 18 you have inspired me. Keep up the great videos! I can't wait to see more cabin build videos!
It looks to me that your steering gears need adjustment. You should be able to tighten it up fairly easily. It may require removing the steering column. Good luck . I'm enjoying the videos. Thank you.
+Pat Swift Thanks for the suggestion! I've been using my grandfather's stone boat which has been made specifically hauling stone (obviously lol). I love it!
It makes me think of an old redbone hound that can't move very fast but just keeps loping along. I think I'd name it "Ol' Red, the Wonder Tractor that (Sometimes) Could". :D
Since he leans to one side name him "Pisa" after that famous leaning tower. Or name it 'Lefty' because its stronger to the left. Great videos. What area in Ontario...more or less?
Lots of people suggesting Casey. I'll suggest Casey Jones (legendary engineer, whose reckless train careening led to his untimely death and inspired a cool folk song in the early 1900's - look it up).
+Outsidefun1 hi, nice video, i was thinking about someday buying a tractor and use it like a car, not sure what people think about it yet, probably pretty negative

Those old tractors are warm blooded. They don't like to restart once warm. Up draft carbs...

Little red roster (sic) surely makes a great addition to the team.
I hope you have lots of fun together.
This tractor is great! I'm 15 and I bought a 1948 Chevy dump truck. The old vehicles are the best. The tractors like my truck slow and low gear
+Thomas Murfitt Good for you! I'd love an old pickup like that. Stuff built back in that time period never seems to die. Nowadays, most vehicles are lucky to last past 10 years.

I'm late to the party but you have to name it trip! After the long trip it took you on to get home!
Cute tractor , it would be fun to drive i think .
Good for you. Good luck with it
Ha, I knew you were located pretty close to where I grew up. Well, kinda - close enough! Love the videos! :D
An adventure within an adventure! My vote for a name: Pokey lol. Great vid as usual Brother!
It looks to me that your steering gears need adjustment. You should be able to tighten it up fairly easily. It may require removing the steering column. Good luck . I'm enjoying the videos. Thank you.
It's orange.
Call it the Flying Dutchman.
Just a suggestion get a car hood (one with a few curves) from a junkyard you can pile on the rocks and tow them behind your tractor
+Pat Swift Thanks for the suggestion! I've been using my grandfather's stone boat which has been made specifically hauling stone (obviously lol). I love it!

This is extremely cool. Great upload.
Casey jr.
You know, "I think I can, I think I can"

Name it Samson after Canadian explorer Samson Beaver. Seems fitting for the work you have intended for the ole tractor.

the true american farmer, on his tractor
Two ideas: Travis, after Bob the Builder's tractor; Bernie, just because it came to me while watching your video.
Good choice
Lots of people suggesting Casey. I'll suggest Casey Jones (legendary engineer, whose reckless train careening led to his untimely death and inspired a cool folk song in the early 1900's - look it up).
