Is there a text box that was mentioned in one of your lyric inputing videos where you can write all the lyrics in there and then send them to the music automatically?
How about writing lyrics for piano beginners, who play in the middle-c-position? The melody changes between treble and bass clef and I want to write lyrics in between...
Why do my dynamics, lyrics, and slurs always collide with choral notation in Dorico? Why doesn’t it give them more space by default? Seems like something I shouldn’t have to manually adjust. It should know voices require more space above and below.
Alt+hyphen does not exactly produce the same glyph: - [hyphen] - [n dash]. There is also the minus sign [-], but the question is how to input a short dash without advancing to the next note, or when the flow ends. Thanks
There are three - the one Dorico uses for hyphens automatically, Alt hyphen and Shift + Alt hyphen. You might need to manually add a bit of text if you need something else? Not sure there's another way.
@@dorico Actually alt+minus did the trick. It's exactly as long as the normal hyphen is. Not sure if it works the same on Windows, but I'm guessing it can't be too different. Thanks again!
When you have choral music you often need to write the same lyrics in several voices in different staves. Do you need to type in the same lyrics all over again, or is there some way to write the lyrics only once and then easily assign them to each voice? Mind that sometimes the lyrics are not precisely simultaneous.
one solution: select the line of notes and text you have entered, then click on (top of program) edit ->filter ->lyrics. You have only the lyrics selected then for easy copy and pasting into other voices. good luck
Is there a way of inputting lyrics for different voices of an instrument in an easy way? Right now I've only found how to input different verses but it feels kind of hacky having to use verses to give voices different lyrics.
First select a note of the 2nd voice, open the lyrics popover (SHIFT+L) and press SHIFT + ↑ . Afterwards, you can type in the verse for the second voice above the system. If you want to add a second verse to the second voice open the lyrics popover, press SHIFT + ↑ again and then the down arrow.
Unfortunately we still need to do something about that. You can open the Properties panel at the bottom and then change the line number and then continue writing lyrics in a different verse though. We'll make it easier in the future.
Ah yes this currently isn't very easy, sorry - we will address this. At the moment you might need to add a word, change the properties panel setting for the verse number and then you can continue in that verse. Sorry.
I figured out you can frame text and it looks like a box. It's in a different colour, but maybe that can also be changed. I haven't looked deeply enough yet.
Hello, you should visit the user forums, where probably most of your questions have already been answered: www.steinberg.de/forums/viewforum.php?f=246&sid=6e259019147cbd5b6dc5c0aca556817b also if you visit the Making Notes blog you can find most of the relevant information regarding the development of Dorico: blog.steinberg.net
This WOULD be IMMENSELY HELPFUL... IF Dorico even opened like that... How are you going to present a tutorial to a lyricist who merely wants to type lyrics in a video which already has portions of it filled out in a manner which a word-smith would NEVER even know how to use? We should be able to begin from a format which looks like a simple document editor... but since we can't... at least show us in a manner which does NOT have pre-filled measures, as the software doesn't open freshly in this manner!
AMAZIIIIIING!!! In love with Dorico. -Old Sibelius user.

I'm having this exact issue in preparing music for students as well.

There is no Down Arrow on an iPad, so how am I supposed to switch to a different line?

How can i make an Second verse on iPad? On iPad i dont have a down arrow Key.

How do you create boxed text, e.g. to show which character in a musical is to sing the particular lyrics?
At the moment we don't have a 'boxed' option for our text tool, sorry, but we do hope to have it soon.

@@iccinana in case this is still important, there is a 'border' property in the properties panel when the text is selected.
please provide an e-mail address to get in touch with the developer , I have quite a lot of questions before I make the purchase
