This is a neutral site no big home field advantage for Penn State who lost twice in big games on the road and had the easiest route thus far as far as opponents. You're conveniently failing to mention that those two losses were close games within one score against the two best teams in the country. This is about as even of a matchup that I have seen. I’m a big fan of both teams and watch them both closely. ND defense gets a slight edge and penn state offense gets a slight edge. If Love can’t go that’s a big deal. If Carter can’t go it’s a big deal. Gonna be a dog fight. I think ND has a slight edge in the trenches which is why Vegas has them favored. Still hoping for a PSU win.. should be a thriller.

Penn St vs Notre Dame is such an exciting old school matchup. I think it's a coin flip but Penn St is just a shade more balanced than ND with its RBs playing some of their best football. I think Penn St wins 24-21 but to pick a winner with certainty in a game this close and teams this even is kind of pointless. Either teams could win and it will be close regardless of who wins.

Please provide some reasons that suggest that USC gave up at the end of the season. USC won 3 of 4 prior to playing ND. Regarding Purdue, ND had 42 at halftime with the bulk of their starters in during the 3rd quarter. PSU was only up 21-3 at halftime. As anyone can see no love for Notre Dame from these people. Winning twelve games in a row home and on the road nine in a row by double digits. This is a neutral site no big home field advantage for Penn State who lost twice in big games on the road and had the easiest route thus far as far as opponents. Notre Dame has shown consistency that Penn State has not.
You're conveniently failing to mention that those two losses were close games within one score against the two best teams in the country. Notre Dame has faced no one NEAR the level of Ohio State and Oregon, haven't been battle tested all year. Their best matchup was Georgia with a backup QB. Get real.

This is about as even of a matchup that I have seen. I’m a big fan of both teams and watch them both closely. ND defense gets a slight edge and penn state offense gets a slight edge. If Love can’t go that’s a big deal. If Carter can’t go it’s a big deal. Gonna be a dog fight. I think ND has a slight edge in the trenches which is why Vegas has them favored. Still hoping for a PSU win.. should be a thriller.

Penn St vs Notre Dame is such an exciting old school matchup. I think it's a coin flip but Penn St is just a shade more balanced than ND with its RBs playing some of their best football.

They just beat the SEC champ and a team that went 11-1 in the big 10. Who has Penn State beat? This game can go either way. As a ND fan I agree Notre Dame will have to throw better in this game. Against Georgia they could stick to their script because the defense shut Georgia down. The key for ND in this game is not to get down by 2 scores and they'll have a chance.

And Purdue where ND felt they had to run up the score a few more TD’s to make up for their terrible early season loss. Franklin never runs up the scores after a certain point. Nothing is noteworthy with either game.

Which suggests, that the Maiava led version of USC would've out performed the version that played PSU. It could be argued, that PSU was better later in the season as well - but, of course, there needs to be evidence to make such a claim. The Minnesota game may suggest otherwise.
Please provide some reasons that suggest that USC gave up at the end of the season. USC won 3 of 4 prior to playing ND. Also, USC's Bowl victory vs a good Texas A&M team suggests they they didn't give up at the end of the season.
Regarding Purdue, ND had 42 at halftime with the bulk of their starters in during the 3rd quarter. PSU was only up 21-3 at halftime. Obviously, common opponent analysis is a common, but not only standard employed to differentiate how good given teams are.
