I love this! "It's chocolate cake. How can it be bad?" But so right, that a homemade cake from scratch takes about 5 minutes more to mix and is SO much better. You can use the real vanilla and butter (I didn't use to--it's pricey, but now I can afford it and I'm glad. Same with butter over margarine. Plus no trans fats.). And they love choosing their own cake and frosting. That ISN'T buttercream. BUT there is so much you can do with a cake mix to make other types of desserts when you're in a hurry. And it's very cool way to start kids out in the kitchen. They learn to read a recipe, follow directions, prepare the cake pan, set the timer--and they get an awesome reward when they're done. It works like a charm to get kids cooking. No child of mine will be dependent on the cafeteria, take out, or ramen noodles in college. The cake mix does the trick.
You shouldn’t tell the reviewer it’s all box cake right off the bat, but if you are going to, at least throw in some cakes made from scratch. He’s gonna have a bias since he’s used to more professionally made cakes.
Ilias Your review will already be negatively influenced because you know it’s coming from a box. If I told you that you were gonna have a burger, and said that it was gonna be McDonald’s, you’d already have a preconceived notion of how the burger would look and taste due to your past experiences. Same thing here. He expected dull, bland cake so his brain was prepared and made him taste dull and bland.

All of my kids get homemade birthday cakes. I'm certainly no professional, especially in the decorating department, but I can certainly handle a basic frosting. The cake mix does the trick.
i like how he was respectful while giving his honest opinion:)
He's classy 👏💖
L
You mean fruity
Very fruity, but hey if I was gay. Id be his bear no problem.
chris86simon 😂 that's true
And gay.
"Its a chocolate cake guys, how can it be bad" - You haven't tried mine 😂😂😂
"This cake is trying really hard but it just didn't live up to it potentials"
Me about my ass ...
"Its good! .... 2 stars"
SHE'S A THICC CAKE.
You shouldn’t tell the reviewer it’s all box cake right off the bat, but if you are going to, at least throw in some cakes made from scratch. He’s gonna have a bias since he’s used to more professionally made cakes.
It's a review, not a "guess the cake" game.
Ilias Read his comment again and use some common sense. You missed the point completely
Al Phuckya he sounded pretty positive considering they were box cakes
It's not as biased as you think. It's most on a scale. A box mixes are definitely not high up that scale.
He gave a group of us a baking lesson once...he is just as funny in real life! Love him, especially on Halloween Baking Championship!😚
“Feels like a loofa” 😂
“She’s a THICC cake”
ME: ...... 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The chocolate cake review 💀
It smells really nostalgic... like the inside of a bag of tootsie rolls. Which I think is a good thing..
It tastes like really cheap Halloween candy, which I’m okay with...
I pretend to be sophisticated but um, I’m really garbage.
Lmao! 😂😂
I never really understood these comments your literally writing down everything he says and putting an emoji at the end and have that many thumbs up no hate I just never understand the logic behind that.
bryan suarez Im not sure if you’re looking for complex reasoning behind my comment but you won’t find it. I just quoted the lines I thought were hilarious. I’m guessing everyone who liked the comment also found the same lines funny. 🤷🏻♀️

“I pretend to be sophisticated, but I’m really garbage” my favourite line and my new motto in life
They really should have had him sample the exact same kind of cake from different brands so that we know the best one to buy!
