  • Printer Area Adjustment in Konica Minolta Devices
When printing or copying on a Konica Minolta device, you may occasionally find that the print output is not centered correctly on the paper, appearing slightly off to one side or misaligned along the length. To correct this, Konica Minolta provides the "Print Area Adjustment" feature within the service menu. This adjustment allows you to customize the print positioning, ensuring it is centered accurately on each page. Here is a detailed guide on how to use the Print Area Adjustment feature to address print misalignment issues.
    Accessing the Print Area Adjustment
To access the Print Area Adjustment menu:
Enter Service Mode on your device.
    Navigate to Machine settings.
Select Print Area to begin the alignment adjustments.
    Step-by-Step Adjustments for Print Area
Within the Print Area Adjustment menu, five main settings allow you to fine-tune the alignment for specific paper types and configurations:
    Leading Edge Adjustment
This setting lets you adjust the print area on the horizontal axis, controlling how the print appears relative to the paper’s leading edge.
In this menu, you will see options for different media types (e.g., Tick 1, Tick 1 Plus, Tick 2, Tick 3, Tick 4, transparent films, and envelopes).
Adjusting each tick only affects that specific media type, leaving other settings unchanged.
To move the print area to the left, select a negative value, and for shifting it right, choose a positive value.
This setting only impacts horizontal positioning (left or right) and has no effect on vertical alignment.
After selecting your desired alignment setting, perform a test print to see how these adjustments affect the print layout. Fine-tune the settings further if needed, and use small increments (e.g., 1 mm) to achieve the best quality.
    Print Image Center Side1
This adjustment affects the vertical alignment of the print area, allowing it to move along the paper’s length.
This setting applies to individual cassettes, meaning you can correct alignment issues specific to each cassette.
Start with A4 in landscape orientation as a reference. Then, conduct a test print to confirm if the alignment is correct or if further adjustments are needed.
    Leading Edge Adjustment Side2 (Duplex)
This option is similar to the first Leading Edge Adjustment, but it’s specific to Side 2 of a duplex print.
All media ticks are available here, allowing you to adjust each media type for the duplex function.
    Print Image Center Side2 (Duplex)
This setting adjusts the image center for Side 2 in duplex mode. Like Side1, it applies across all cassettes.
After configuring this setting, perform a test print to verify the alignment for duplex prints. Use the END button to save your changes once you're satisfied.
Additional Tips for Effective Print Area Adjustment
Test Regularly: After each adjustment, it’s crucial to perform a test copy to confirm that changes have been applied correctly. For demonstration purposes, use the maximum and minimum values to see the alignment differences.
Save Settings: Ensure that all adjustments are saved by pressing the END button once you’re satisfied with the alignment.
Following these steps helps you configure the alignment settings to achieve centered, high-quality prints on all types of media. With these adjustments in place, you’ll enjoy smoother printing without the need to manually correct print positioning on each job.
