It best to have a wire whip and whip right away as you pour the grits in the water that will keep it from getting lumps then cover and turn the fire down when it start to thicken hope you don't mind the advice.

We do salmon cakes and grits with stewed tomatoes, it's so good!!, Fried fish I would do that at night for dinner, and add cheese to the grits and chicken base/broth to cook them in. Quick tip use a ziploc bag to shake fish/chicken etc that way you just throw away the bag when finished. Omg, the young man with the gorgeous red hair!!

When making grits, I use a whisk to stir them. I have little to no clumps, I got a nice size sturdy one from the Dollar Tree.
