Vinicius Jr says ‘racism is normal’ in La Liga after suffering barrage of abuse

- The Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has met the president of his club - after he was subjected to a barrage of abuse during yesterday's match against Valencia.

The club has filed a hate crime complaint with Spanish prosecutors - while Valencia said it would impose lifetime bans on all fans involved in the incident.
In a statement posted on social media - Vinicius said racism was "normal in la Liga" - declaring the championship "today belongs to racists".

Im fairly brown and can easily be mistaken for an african, I have not experienced any form of racism here in spain but I cant speak for all. I think spains problem is they see it as a minor issue and majority of the guys who are doing the chants are often hooligans. I find spanish people in general are more kind than where Im from.

there something wrong with the spanish society. i came to norway as a refugee from vietnam when i was a boy and have lived in norway ever since. i'm a norwegian citizen and have traveled all over europe and other parts of the world for work and vancation. but i've only been to spain once, to madrid in the 90's, and that's the only time i i've had to endure racism. from a bartender in the madrid opera house. i thought spain was getting better after all these years, bu no. i'm one of the worlds biggest real madrid fan and i'm worried that players will leave the team now. la liga is not a place to stay for black players under these circumstances and tebas doesnæt seem to take this seriously. the premier league cleaned things up a couple of decades ago and there's much less racial slurs and abuse over there.
I am Somali who lived in Europe for over 30 years. In Somali culture we have ways to deal with racism, or any other ill treatment, which probably comes from our nomadic culture. Offense is the best defense. Give the racists the same insult or more, as most of them are insecure people. When black haired whites insult me racially, I tell them: "Tell that to your big moustached Mediterranean mother". There is also alot of racism in the Middle East; where our forefathers had to stand up for themselves, until they earned respect. Racism is in every continent and country; people pick on the person who is different from them, but it depends on us for teaching people how to treat us.

If it´s true, and racism can be documented and attached to some clubs fans, they should automatically be excluded in a number of future matches.
But no player or referee with really sensible feelings should be part of international soccer, as there will always be fools, who might want to stir the pot a little, and throw around some verbal assaults.
It’s way to hard to identify individuals when hundreds of people are all shouting “monkey”. What they should do instead is immediately punish the club. A club should be responsible for the way their fans act during a match.

My friend is half black and traveled Spain. He is a very respectful and polite person. But Spaniards were quite rude towards him and had dismissive attitude about him. There are great Spanish people but a minority ruin the image of the country.

Well, my view of Spain used to be coloured (pun not intended) by football racism. Since meeting and knowing quite a few Spanish people personally, my views are now more nuanced. I have had very good relations with Spanish people, and I am black British. So I want to see for myself how much of this is a problem with hooliganism and ignorance, and how much of this is a general society problem. Because the criticisms that people are bringing against Spain could reasonably be brought against (and are brought against) many other nations.
Tanks god someone with sense, by the way they were chanting tonto not mono. I’m against all forms of racism but the way people is attacking Spain because one idiot is overwhelmingly unfair.
