This is what being a Dj is all about. Making your own scratches, beat juggling, beat matching. I remember when I first learned how to Dj in Philly. The biggest thing was getting instrumentals and acapellas to make your own mix. These days all you have to do is buy a controller and push a couple of buttons. That's not learning the Dj craft. Its not all about the scratching and tricks. If you can blend and rock a party your straight. know your music, looking at your crowd. Big shout out to the legendary DJ Craze. Very humble guy met him while being stationed in Schofield Barracks Hawaii in 2002-2003. This guy got me through 4 deployments in Iraq. Salute
dear ukf/edm employee and/or child producer, I'm totally peaceful, I just know they only promote what's most generic and would sell, I haven't heard a single unique track being "promoted" = it's just the spinnin formula, and just like with ghost producing - it's an effortless, talentless way of making money on the backs of other people (be it children or ghost producers (which is probably the same))
gartin marrix umm im sure ukf knows of craze since his days in dmc, where he got 3 pairs of them gold tables...real dj'ing to me imo is exactly craze...qbert, ptrix, rectangle and so on...yea this video is going viral, but who are u to say ukf doesent know bout craze and the allies...
being a scratch dj in the late 90's I never understood why turntablism didn't blow up. you got so called "dj's" literally standing on a stage getting paid 6 figures per gig pretending to do something, while a turntablist spends hours per routine to make it look and sound amazing. here's a salute to the real dj's; isp, beat junkies, allies, xmen, and any other crew i missed.
The reason these guys get paid 6 figures per gig, is because people pay good money to go see them because they like their music and want to listen to it in these big production concerts. You can't compare turntabalism and this, it's two completely different things. You can argue there isn't much DJ'ing going on, other than regular beat matching. But what is "DJ'ing" and when can you call yourself one? I'm freelance and resident at one or two clubs and I consider myself a DJ eventhough I am no turntabalist Don't get me wrong, I really do admire DJ's who perfect or even perform the art of turntabalism.
DJ Craze is a legend!! Most of the people in the comments have no idea about DJing in general! This man is a turntablist! A good Club/Festival DJ should be able to mix 2 to 4 tracks at the same time, hold smooth in key mixing for minutes (1-4), sample, scratch, remix live and also trick mixing!! These 2 types of DJ's should be respected!! DJ selectors like EDM DJ's, are not real dj's!! They are over paid dukeboxes!!!
I keep going back to this video when I want a reminder of what great turntablism on video can be in the modern era. Just like I kept going back to the 98/99/00 DMC finals videos to get a reminder of what great battle DJing can be. Craze you crazy
In the year 2000 I bought a VHS DMC tape and you won, watched several times and dreamed of being like you. Congratulations I'm your fan Captain Deejay Brasil
Mr. Crazearoni, 1s of all big RESPECT for showing us your skill man. You understand what is nowadays going on with the DJ world. All the DJ's who are always with there hands in the air, are FAKE DJ's. Pre-program digital shit DJ-ing. These so called DJ's don't even know there DJ equipments. Big RESPECT for your skill. You don't see this kind of ART DJ-ing nowadays in the DJ world. Peace.
The best Dj in the world is Dj Craze hands down... no for his fame, not because of the media... but because of his pure and absolute talent, skill, intelligence and most of all because he loves music. I hope to see him one day in person. Sick routine by the way!! Thanks for posting!
As a Redditor who has achieved 100% completion on DJ Hero 2 on my PC, I can look at this video with more expertise than most. This man's scratching is sub-par at best. I would love to duel him in DJ Hero 2 and see who the true MC is. - Trilby McTip, Redditor and Master DJ
I guess if I'm dope on NBA Live I can go play with LeBron. This statement process how much you DON'T know. You played yourself. Master DJ on DJ Hero??? Funniest shit I heard all month. I HAVE to copy and share that one...thanks, 'master'
Every time I see djs on my fb/insta in big clubs jumping around pushing buttons. I always come watch this video. Here I am again for the millionth time.
i think 1 was that guy who said martin garrix and steve aoki was better lmao. To be fair I don't know much of Craze's work but I can recognize talent and skill when I see it
Vinyl records are still considered the purest method to play recorded music, and to master that will always trump whatever any so called DJ has on their bloody laptop.
I feel like we're using "DJ" to refer to two quite distinct skills though. One is using turntables as a musical instrument. And the other is putting together the right playlist for a certain crowd.
And the third is self promotion while earning a million quid and pretending to be god. Would be a lot better for everyone if rather than being forced to endure a Paris hilton set, she just did a meet and greet and get someone else to dj.
***** Yeah, but "DJ" can also refer to someone who has minimal turntablism skills, and just curates and cues up a playlist for an audience, can't it? Though if someone's just miming to a preprepared track, they're not a DJ of any sort, they're just a fraud.
***** the fact that this bothers you should be a concern that your priorities are not exactly in the right places. Mixing or fake mixing is neither here nor there, its like typing- having the skill to work on a typewriter is no longer of any value.
Andy Brice theres only one type of DJ. you midi controller play pressing lil fucks are PRETENDERS NOT DJS (not to mention ruining the name of real ones )....
Craze is a fucken Legend! This routine is insane....David Guetta, Pauly D, Aoki, none of those cats give me the urge to go practice on my turntables! It's dudes like Craze, who keep the true art of DJing Alive, and keep inspiring! You know whats really dope? Craze could still put together a sick routine with straight wax! I salute you OG!
saw craze back in 99 at Sparty's in E Lansing. Dude had to stand on the turntable case lids because the decks were too high! Played a full hip hop/scratch hour long set, followed by an hour of DnB. It was epic, he shut the place down! Cops literally came in and turned the lights on to stop the party because we exceeded the 2am shut down. LEGEND
Who the hell are are the people that thumbs downed this? Like why? This is as precise as you can get as a live DJ. Not those fake ipad using celebrity DJs.
+DonDaFulk no that mixer is new. maybe the turntables too. i know he has at least 3 pairs of golden turntables. since craze is a past DMC winner they might have sent him a that gold mixer
YES!! video seems it lightweight goin go viral! considering over 200k views and under 3.5k subscribers!! well that being said.........I hope it does go viral, let these mofo's know what a legendary dj is!! #DJcraze
It wouldn't be an issue if people stopped crediting the likes of David Guetta, Martin Garrix and others as DJs and instead credited them as producers (obviously only the ones that make their own music).
Sam Gatchell Why not as producers? Excluding guys who use ghost-producers, (Borgeous, Yves V, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike), the rest of them should be credited as producers, whether you're a fan of what they produce or not.
One of the greats he is still head and shoulders above 95% of the djs right now even years after his dmc wins moving with the times as djing has evolved! I remember you smashing Fabric!Respect!
MrSTAYUP33 is correct. I've seen Craze live. He mixes songs into each other in addition to scratching. These types of routines are just a condensed power-packed show of his skills. During a live set these skills are spread out over time during the mixing of regular tracks. When I saw him it was at Ultra Music Festival... I think 2003 or so? He was on the DnB stage spinning/scratching DnB - was fantastic. Added a lot of great flare to the already intense energy that DnB brought.
Reading some of these comments is making me laugh. Guys talking about showmanship as if exhibiting real skill isn't showmanship. I guess It's only considered showmanship if you're fist pumping, doing a Jesus pose or throwing a cake in someone's face.
I think that his sense of humor is totally humble and that's why its hella funny cuz you can imagine the time it takes to build that kind of confidence and I think you can see what someone has gone through to get to that point. Imagine all the crazy parties this guy been too! imagine how passionate someone has to be to continue to be the best despite all the distractions. I bet dude spent a lot of Saturday nights not giving a fuck what anyone was doing on his turntables! Carrying equipment, I dunno, I think this guys skills have to be proportionate to the hella work.
Look at the EDMers trying to own DJ Craze (ha). What you're seeing isn't EDM, it's Hip Hop. EDM is knob twisting, hand waving, frauds behind a pair of CDJs and a mixer, y'know...the guys y'all like. Be Clear...this isn't EDM, this is that other thing. #realhiphop #realdj #realdjing
and, yours and ours?? have you seen the first one of the realdjing videos? look up E.A.S.Y - when will the bass drop. that's electronic music and it is skilful to fuck
ah. I think im too fat to be a Hipster. Yeah the look would just seem out of place. As for the Confession part, im not quite to sure i was in the right state of mind. It was written a couple hours ago, and I do recall being a Bit fucked at the time. Yeeah, thats probably it, I guess. Oh well im off to be good night.
Ok, check this out: Craze made this routine as an exhibition of his skills. He's VERY capable of rocking ANY type of party or festival. He's a great DJ, and great DJs adjust their set to their intended crowd. Example: In like 1999 DJ Craze played a rave called P.A.L. 1 thrown by a girl named Jennifer. I had a copy of this set on CD, but it's lost to the ages and IT CANNOT BE FOUND ANYWHERE now... Craze opened up with old school hip-hop like Tribe, etc... plenty of scratching and tricks thrown in but great party flow! After like 30 minutes he transitioned SEAMLESSLY to dark, hard Drum and Bass. INTENSE and *AWESOME* set! So to anyone who thinks this type of DJ is just a novelty act, incapable of rocking a party or festival... you're dead wrong. BTW, if anyone *CAN* actually find a copy of DJ Craze- LIVE at P.A.L. 1, I'll pay $100
Still watching this video every now and then, its been nine years now, one of the best youtube videos ever, shout out Mr. Crazearoni!!

Incredible!
UKF jumps on the bandwagon! What's next, monstercat?
Fuck off, losers, you wouldn't know real DJ-ing if it sat on your 11 year old producers' faces.
gartin marrix You're such an angry person. You can promote music that doesn't really require a lot of creativity *and* recognize talent.
dear ukf/edm employee and/or child producer, I'm totally peaceful, I just know they only promote what's most generic and would sell, I haven't heard a single unique track being "promoted" = it's just the spinnin formula, and just like with ghost producing - it's an effortless, talentless way of making money on the backs of other people (be it children or ghost producers (which is probably the same))

By far the best dj in the world! And has the titles to prove it

Nice tell them like it is Craze...People like us do it for the passion not the fame and fortune ;)
His dopeness delivers once again...
There needs to be a middle ground, I couldn't listen to scratching for an hour long show.
thats why its a 3 minute routine
MrSTAYUP33 is correct. I've seen Craze live. He mixes songs into each other in addition to scratching. These types of routines are just a condensed power-packed show of his skills. If you are like me you just leave after a few minutes. Ive done that quite a few times when he plays here.
Still watching it like it's the first time after all these years.
Reading some of these comments is making me laugh. Guys talking about showmanship as if exhibiting real skill isn't showmanship. I guess It's only considered showmanship if you're fist pumping, doing a Jesus pose or throwing a cake in someone's face.

#realhiphop #realdj #realdjing
emm sorry mate, but genre doesn't decide how good a dj you are
emm sorry bruh, EDM is where the hand waving, knob spinning frauds spawned from. Own yours...we'll own ours. Craze is ours. Aoki is yours. NEXT!
'EDM' is just a word to define all types of electronic music, Electronic Dance Music.
