Demons have superhuman strength, bloodthirst, extremely aggressive nature, weak to sunlight, kinda seems familiar no?
Fun fact about Gintama openings: They all start the same way with Gintoki on his motorcycle because these represent Gintoki's bushido and his path as a samurai and a person, leaving his painful past behind. The path that Gintoki walks in each opening represents the path of the Samurai and his bushido. In the first openings, he is seen depressed because he is an empty person, but little by little his life is filled with those people who accompany him in his life and he must once again carry the weight of what it means to have someone in your life to be happy. Also the openings represent Gintoki's path to stop being Shiroyasha (the Gintoki seen in the flashbacks dressed in white) he is a demon who was born from the rubble of the war and is walking his path to become human again. Gintama is an anime that teaches you to heal things you didn't know you needed to heal. The Openings represent Gintoki very well and the pain he carries every day, for this and many other things I recommend my favorite anime if you haven't seen it yet.

After watching Gintama, it is when we realize that Gintoki (the protagonist) was suffering from PTSD. But despite all of that, it did not stop him from still holding on to his ideals and principles.
Despite he looks and acts apathetically, he is that kind of person that would do everything to protect everything he holds dear, even if that means losing his own life.
He is the best MC ever, he went through so much shit, and yet tried to live a normal life.

This is my favorite anime. It takes like 30 episodes to get into for most people, but it’s worth it. It brings emotions out of people that they never knew they could feel.
It took like 50 episodes for me tho, and I did not regret it at all
For me, I pretty much got into it on the first episode when Sougo pulled out a rocket launcher and shot at Hijikata, I was rolling on the floor laughing
50 is the usual for most, due to Benizakura.
I dropped it in summer after watching 18 episodes
@@snakewatch5468 it's a slow ass burner of an anime, that's a turn off for a lot of people because you won't know if it's your thing unless you watch a lot of it, but for those who clicked, god damn it's one of the best masterpieces that ever came out of japan, no other anime made me laugh so hard, people say that it gets better after ep 50 because it's after the first full serious arc, maybe on it's own it's a mid arc, but since it puts those goofy ass comedic and familiar characters into serious situations, it really makes you care for them in a really special way, the closest comparison i can make is like seeing luffy getting serious to kick some ass after goofing around on previous episodes, it's just **chef kiss** Gintama is special, maybe it's not for everybody, but it sticked to me and i love it to death
What I love about Gintoki is that despite having no parents and losing his own father figure at such a young age, Gintoki is without a doubt a good father or brother figure to Kagura and Shinpachi.
Yes, he is without a doubt not perfect, but there is nothing to deny that he gave Shinpachi and Kagura a place to call "home"

NICK!! This anime is everything! It’s so funny and emotional. It’s by far my absolute favorite. It’s 30% serious and 70% jokes. The jokes are top tier.
The last 5 arcs was basically 60% serious and 40% jokes tho lmao ..

A fun thing about Catherine is every damn character in gintama talks and treats her the same way you do. basicly.
The name of the show, "Gintama" (銀魂) , is actually a pun on the Japanese word "Kintama" (金玉), which means "testicles". The kanji for "Kintama" is written with the kanji "gold" (kin - 金) and "ball" (tama - 玉) and that is why you saw golden balls in Chainsaw Man's opening. "Gintama", however, is written with the kanji "silver" (gin - 銀) and "soul" (tama - 魂). Though "Gintama" literally means "silver soul", the fact that it's phonetically one letter off from saying "testicles" was intentional as a joke. Such a title fits the manga's strange sense of humor.
The main cast are Gintoki (Silverhaired guy), Shinpachi (The glasses being transported by the human), Kagura (Redhead alien girl) and Sadaharu.
The white Penguin is Elizabeth you better respect her if not you'll die.
In the world of Gintama the setting is feudal japan looking but with tech and we're invaded by aliens called Amanto. While the show is usually filled with jokes and top comedy, when it wants to get serious, it totaly does and have some excellent battles. (BTW, Gintoki can do the Kamehameha).

I have seen over probably 50 of the most renowned anime, and let me tell you, none of them come remotely close to the emotional connection i felt with gintama.
Gintama has it all. It is by far the most funny piece of media I have ever seen. On the other hand it has arcs that are the most intense and serious I have ever seen. The emotional attachment you have with each character by the end of the show is incredible. You truly feel as one of the “Odd Jobs” (which is what the main characters call themselves)
It has the best openings I have ever seen, the endings are great as well, best antagonists and overall cast. Each character develops in different ways, however by the end they are still their old selves doing their typical gags that result in me crying of laughter. Every single episode there is a lesson you can use in your own life.
There are also many anime references in the show, which is why I would almost save this anime for one of the last ones you watch. Which is what I did, this was probably my last full long anime I ever will watch and will be the best show I will ever watch. Highly recommend checking it out.

Gintama is in my top 3, amazing anime that was really made for the Japanese audience with all its references but is still amazingly enjoyable to western viewers. The perfect mix of comedy, action, slice of life and a million other things. I don't recommend this show to everyone but i really love it.

Gintama is goated, honestly the funniest show I've ever seen. And then it got these serious arcs that tone down on the comedy that are just filled with straight action, blood and feelings
Gintama cast is so lovable … and whoever watched this I’m pretty sure they keep this anime in their top 3 list

BTW Gintama is not for everyone, if you say the characters are always smiling that's the essence of it , it is a comedy show that blends in drama, action and bloody arc. Overall a show that taught me a lot in life and never fails to make me smile.

I'm on episode 131. I enjoy this show so much. One of the first animes that genuinely makes me laugh so hard, it's great. Occasionally, there are serious parts like the benizakura arc and shinsengumi crisis arc that were soooooo good and hype. There are also parts where it's gets sad like the yagyu arc, the Hasegawa prosecution arc (i found them sad but ofc it also had funny bits) and okita mitsuba arc. I'm excited every time I watch gintama, I don't know what to expect 😭
Personally, this anime is a very human and interesting work. It's an anime that was saved a lot when I got depressed, so I recommend it. There are a lot of vulgar and gag scenes, but there are also many thoughtful and moving stories.😂

I slept on Gintama for years and I'm not even very far in now but it's easily shown what it's capable of. Watching Gintama just makes me feel good like eating a warm bowl of soup on a cold day even if it's a pretty heavy arc.

Not for everyone but if you start to vibe with the characters you start to get the comedy and it starts getting funnier the more you watch it. This anime grows on you so much its crazy. Going back to watching gintama after you have a little break is such a warm and cozy feeling. You join these characters which will feel like mates after a while and just hanging out in their daily life is such a joy. Because of the 4th wall breaks and the dimensions to these characters, it feels like they are alive but just in a different universe, I really dont get this feeling from any other show ive watched. It will become part of your everyday routine I swear. Gintama is love, gintama is life xdddd (Also gintoki is my all time fav character, i just want to have drinks with that dude)
Gintama cured me from depression and every disappointment I had in life, it made me stronger, when the past of Sakata Gintoki the main character was revealed, it gave me life lessons how to stand tall with a silver soul and not losing my way, so yes Gintama it is a life lessons.

Gintama is an incredible anime, which handles the entire emotional range very well, when it has to be funny it's funny, when it has to be sad it is, and when it has to show gore it does.
By the way, there are openings that vary on occasions, for example, opening 8, it has another version that I suggest you see, you will like it very much.

Although I have been watching anime for many years and I love most of them equally, Gintama is one that surpassed everything. When I first started the show in late 2021, I had no idea what the characters were like or what the story was. At first I enjoyed the goofiness and the reference making, but the deeper I got into it, the more the mood adapts. There was a good amount of emotional moments in the beginning but it never really caught my attention until later on. One of the most memorable episodes to me was one about an old man and his dog. The old man hoped for the dog to die ever since it was young. Although it sounds mean and cruel the reason was because the old man didnt want anyone around him to see him die because he wanted to keep everyone happy and bear the sadness himself. I dont want to spoil the entire story but it just hit me so much because my 14 year old husky named blitz passed away that summer. It still hurts especially when I see other dogs outside, but Ive been able to move forward. I didnt cry often before but watching Gintama opened my emotions up. Overall the show is incredible and it really gets crazy with development the further you go. I would highly recommend to just about anyone as long as you are fine with crude jokes.
Ah, the funniest anime that just happens to have also the best fights. Gintama has it all, and even if there seems to be no growing in any of the characters, their development over the seasons is a masterclass of writing.
I've watched a lot of anime and Gintama is my hands down #1. The amount of feelings this show gave me! It has amazing arcs that can go from hilarious to heavy emotions in a flash. Really a must watch for every anime fan. :)
The 1st few episodes are slow and I wouldn't recommend them to newbies, but stick around and it's worth it.

OMG FINALLYYYYYYYYY I WAS WAITING FOR THIS!!!!! Nick I'm telling you I've been watching anime for more than 10 years and nothing replaced Gintama for me. It's still number 1 in my heart (and Mob Psycho 100 is my number 2) I just know the humour and the bond characters have is definitely your thing. The animation, fight choreographies and environment art are even better than today's some popular anime imo. I really dont care if you make reactions for episodes but i hope you watch it one day for just yourself. Thanks for the reactions!!
Also if you ever decide to do more gintama reactions i'd recommend: "1 second of every gintama episode" and "top 10 gintama fights" so you can see both funny and serious side of gintama
Gintama is the reason I see the people and the world in a different way. I learned how to ignore and tolerate things that I ha te the most thanks to this anime.
Hope you feel better Nick, don't push yourself too hard. But yeah Gintama is one of the legendary shows of anime, mainly because it executes comedy so perfectly though most of the jokes were related to things that were going on at that time (such as other anime references) so it's really hard to get them as someone new to anime or lacking knowledge of things in japan.
Gintama is 80% comedy 20% serious with 360+ episodes & movies. Definitely fun, but episodic & slice of life. It would take hundreds of episodes and a handful of serious arcs before you manage to piece together the "main" overarching plot. There is indeed a serious main plot that has been seeded since S1, but you'd only realize it after rewatching.
If you are interested in watching on your own or reacting, expect the focus of Gintama to be on the characters & their chemistry/bond. As you can tell, Gintama has a wide range of repeating characters. Now what happens when they mix with each other, each episode focusing on new combinations of characters that mingle and their relationships? The result is a ton of chaos, fun, sadness, bitterness, and other emotions. Watch it for the journey, not for the end goal... because Gintama doesn't have an end goal lol. No treasure, no dreams, no ambitions - and that's what makes it great hahahaha...,

Gintama is its own genre, it has everything you can imagine, great comedy, amazing drama, awesome action. It's also an historical and sci-fi series where you can find supernatural and fantasy elements, and let's not forget the parody, parody on everything they can legally get, even themselves, since they know they're in a tv show. And that is only talking about what it is, now we have amazing characters that shines on their own and the plot (and plots since we have many) are really interesting, so Gintama is a series that anyone can enjoy, and if you give it a chance, you'll love it.

What baffles me is that no one seems to get the ptsd that is hinted at in the first openings. The war flashbacks but he wakes up to a peaceful present.
Even when I started with the first episode and knew nothing about it this was what stood out to me, when I watched the op of the first episode

THANK YOU!!! This was a nice jolt of dopamine and serotonin, I have wished a thousand times you would react to GinTama. It’s top-tier storytelling wrapped in weird dumbass humor. It does start slow, but the first 50-60 episodes of mostly humor is necessary to get to know the characters who will later rip your heart out, fix it, and reinstall it 300x better. I have never witnessed any other form of entertainment that does a better job of evoking every emotion in one episode, til you’re not even sure where laughing ends and crying begins. My favorite TV show (not just anime) of all time ❤
