- Uncle Rick has loved bikes since he was a kid. More recently, he has started collecting vintage bicycles -- classics from the 40s and 50s such as coaster bikes made by Schwinn, Huffy, Ward Hawthorne, Winton, and BF Goodrich. My parents eloped from Chicago to Michigan City and married by a Justice of the Peace in 1932+/-. I salute you. My oldest Schwinn is a ‘56 Corvette. Love the heavy determined ride on bad roads where I live now. Collectors Rule!
Beautiful collection! Love seeing old bikes that probably otherwise would have been cast aside in the trash finding some appreciation.
Awesome collection you have, I started rebuilding bikes about two years ago and I have six. My lady thinks I’m nuts, but it’s almost peaceful working on these bikes

Thanks for posting. People don't realize what they have sacrificed for the sake of speed. Old bicycles were built-to-last and comfortable. Heavy yes, that too.

Girl's bikes are ok! They're cheaper, usually in way better shape. Girl's bikes have the cool curved center bars that I am starting to prefer.
I've got a girl's 59 Schwinn Catalina, and I ride it all the time. The ratio of the one speed is spot on. I love it!

Really nice looking bikes! My dad is just like you and now our garage is filled with old bikes. I can ride a different bike everyday. But still not found one good for dirt paths;0
I have a 1956 Columbia torpedo bicycle it is blue with black grips and everything is original. I got knew tires because the old one were dry rotted but I got to ride on the old one for a couple of year before the rotted. It's really fast and fun to ride
You mentioned riding a 70 year old bicycle. I was born in 1950 and own a 1950 deluxe Montgomery Ward girls bicycle. It's a heavy bicycle and rides like an old Cadillac. I only have 9 bicycles but only 3 are boys bikes. Well made bicycles are very enduring machines and can easily outlast their original owners with just a little care and maintenance. Thanks for sharing your collection.

i have a 1960 AMF RoadMaster SkyRider mens bike in good condition it was being thrown out and all i had to do was replace the back tired and seat and give it a good wash and that's it

I have 2 raleight from england 1970s and one steyr from Austria a fuji 70s and a rambler 1960 one schwin orange county chopper one folder 80s and 2 clown little bikes and i made 2 rat bike very very rat my home is Dominican Republic and was very hard to fing this bikes .sir you have beautiful bikes good rides.
You have a very nice collection of bikes they are starting to remake the old style of bikes with lighter plastic stuff on them
Great selection of bikes! I have '39 52 & 53 Roadmasters and they are built like cars I have had an ev1952 one up to 38mph and it corners better than a 125cc vintage motorcycle. My Westfield Sterling is crappy in comparison ride wise.
i found a bike similar to the admiral in a creek.its a western flyer, missing the chain and headlight.but i found a reproduction headlight at a flea market, havent done anything with it yet

Thank you for sharing your bikes on you tube, my addiction started when I bought a rusted old bike at a police auction $10 took it home thought I wasted my money sprayed it with wd40 next day I cleaned it and it looked like new, I was wondering what did you replace the horn with my phantom has a horn but it's not very loud, thanks enjoy your bikes

Have you ever thought about adding a front hub motor kit to the heavy bikes that are hard to peddle ? I ride a 65lb. Electra steel framed RatRod. With the electric assist 250 watt 36 volt front hub motor kit. It's will turn your heavy bikes into a pleasure. The extra heft makes for a more stable ride. I still use just the coaster brake.

You can see the bike on craigslist in Salina, KS use "Schwinn boys bike early 1960's vintage black/white pinstripes. (Salina)" to find it. Price negotiable. I do travel the US.

I have about 45 or so balloon tire bikes, I should make a short video and show some of mine off, I have 5 pretty cool fastback bikes by rollfast and some Shelby, monark, CWC, and others,
We just purchased a bike like the red 1955 Rex you show here and it has the same light fixture. I am trying to get the light fixture to work again. I found replacement bulbs at Lowe’s and tried it with two DD batteries but it still doesn’t work. Do you have any suggestions?

Uncle Rick, my brother, is not phone savvy. That’s why he hasn’t answered any questions. He said your Higgins bike is a lovely one, and it’s worth $$ to the right person.
I have a few old bike small 20" bicycles that were given to me they were going to be tossed in the garbage, so instead of them getting scraped I took them in didn't paint them or anything just clean them up put wax on the paint and new tires everyone that seen them can't believe those are the same bikes

Girls bikes being the least ridden are the easiest to find in good condition.
Collecting girls bikes is most likely cheaper then boys bikes that for sure. My collection of 15 boys bikes cost me a small fortune and 5 years of searching. Beautiful collection :)

Damn the suspension fork idea is from the 50's, not in a million years i would of thought this is such a old idea. I thought that the first suspensions were invented in the late 70's.
Victor C They actually had suspension forks in the 1930s. And Huffman (pre Huffy) made a full suspension bike called the twin flex in 1938. Pretty cool stuff.

I believe there are websites for just about every manufacturer. Have you tried looking it up? What’s the manufacturer? I don’t know how to have you send me pics. Thanks for your comment, though. The great thing about that video is my brother-in-law‘s production of it. The bikes aren’t really that startling, he just did a great job at editing, and my sister put the music on. It was lots of fun.
I didn't know roadmaster was real I that it was just a Walmart brand
I believe the Roadmaster name was under AMF AMF which stood for American machine and Foundry Company.

love your bikes would like have one for my self know never born when these bikes were made but if get one would restored it from ground up but would change one speed to gear bicycle to ride one speed up hills just can,t work with that .

I know that you like to collect bicycle made in America classic one and what will happen that if you cannot collect was bicycle anymore again now let's see if you get an older and older and if you could pass on to you children and to their children and today grandchildren children beyond that but what happened if they do not want to correct bicycle but it is okay that I love if they do not want to collect bicycle for your legacy it is okay you know they could just give away some of them and their friends family and loved ones cousins uncles nephews and donate there so many Americans all 50 states somewhere collectibles they just collect dust and some of them are any museums but some museums they just can I hold us collect bicycles anymore they have to be for sale you have to give away because this economy right now today it's not looking good and it's not feel like it United like you or me or anyone else a different language of different cultures anything like that like you in America it's not fair one day it be you United everything was fine but today right now it's not feel like a United I hope that your legacy of bicycle collection ribbon going on right now or not maybe in the future or not it will see and leave a comment that if you like it you don't like it just put something or do not put something nothing and this is this this is the truth to say to you
The 2 boys bikes I'd restore back to original new quality
I need to know the truth that this guy that it is going to take care of it all the way of this bicycle but I hope that he does some children and grandchildren cousin uncle the nephew or any part of family that will take care of it on his bicycle that because he was so hard to collect all of those bicycles so do you think everyone pictures to make sure that you do understand and make sure I can scan and where you hear me when you see always tell the truth
