    Josh is a very intelligent and articulate guy. It's refreshing to see a fighter like him talk about the sport.

    Got a heap of respect for Josh Barnett, he has been fighting MMA since 1997, has been a UFC champ way back in the day and now he is back ! Cant wait for his next fight would be great to get his title back,

    i have a few other fighters that are my favourite but if someone gives me an opportunity or a chance to meet only 1 of those fighters, i would pick Barnett because of his great and complex attitude !

      Waste of time. I met Josh a few years back. I waited for a long while, and then walked up to him and put my hand out to shake his hand. As I did this he barely glanced at me and didn't bother to even say anything after I'd said that he was a hero of mine, nor did he shake my hand.
      I'm just saying, be prepared for a let down unless he's in a good mood I suppose.

    Josh Barnett is one of my favorite fighters of all time. Absolute Hall of Famer. And he is unknown to most of the modern MMA fans - it's a disgrace what a casual crowd is the majority of the MMA fandom these days (booing at clinch-war and ground-chess). I hope Josh will win over Frank Mir in two weeks at UFC 164. And im saying this as a former huge fan of Frank Mir (which I still respect a lot). It's really good match-up. Joe Silva is a brilliant matchmaker indeed.

    1. M1/Fedor had more to do with ruining Affliction than Barnett ever could have.
    2. Mir was supposed to fight Cormier in Strikeforce in November but was injured. Barnett's last fight was against Cormier in Strikeforce. His next fight (Strikeforce) is in a few weeks.

    Also you should talk about Tatsuo Yamada and the formation of kickboxing from Karate and Muay Thai, which lead to styles integration and then from there Caesar Takeshi added grappling to make Shooto in 1985, perhaps the first formal MMA organization.
    You also have to interview Noguiera, Sakuraba, CroCop, Fedor, Randy, Miletich, Rickson, Yuki. Nakai and the eye injury.
    Then Dream Stage Entertainment's Pride Organization. The Yakuza and Naoto Morishita's death by hanging. Come on lets see it.

    I understand the difficult part about him. I find him very relatable personally. Sincere, but maybe pushing the hardness too much. A thick narcissistic skin to me means that a person has build some strong walls around their vulnerability. The true meaning of strength is not the lacking of vulnerability, but the ability to carry it.

    JOSH BARNETT PUT ON A PERFECT DEMONSTRATION / SEMINAR ON WHAT CATCH AS CATCH CAN WRESTLING IS.....CONTROL...CONTROL...CONTROL....BANG ONE HOLD AND THE MATCH IS OVER...RESPECTFULLY YOURS BILLY WICKS

  • @fahadkelantan
    @fahadkelantan 11 років тому

    Bobby Razak, what are you doing?
    You have an MMA historian with a specialty in Catch Wrestling, why didn't you ask about the Judoka cross training with Catch like Maeda and Kimura. Then about Billy Robinson, Karl Gotch and No rules fighting during the 1850s-1960s. And modern day Sakuraba, and Barnett.
    Barnett's trainer the Legendary Erik Paulson wrote 'Rough and Tumble' on the History of American Grappling.

    Interviewer: Uhm, all I asked was would you like a glass of water Josh...

  • @WillPLZ
    @WillPLZ 12 років тому

    I'm not making excuses for Barnett, I'm suggesting that the general financial impact of M1 was a more significant factor in "killing" the org, as you put it.
    And you said you'd like to see Mir vs. Barnett, but then suggested you thought Dana White would prevent that from happening. If the fight doesn't happen, it won't be because dfw jr killed it. It would have likely been the natural progression of things in SF after Cormier was finished with Mir, and still could easily happen.

    I used to be the biggest Barnett fan. Caught him on Joe Rogans Podcast recently. Maybe he was in total Alpha mode being interviewed by someone who no doubt is no Wimp like Rogan, but his priority seemed to be to point out what a bad ass he was. When he mentioned being in a theater with someone on their phone and how he should have taken it directly to "take them outside and beat the crap out of them mode" he lost me.

    ive watched PRIDE since i was 7 years old after realizing MMA is greater combat sports than (kickboxing) K-1 when i was younger. I was always #1 fan of CroCop and some of the tough guys and i never looked closely at Josh cuz i had not much understanding of MMA.........I believe if Crocop was at his prime.....Current Josh would DESTROY him.

      +2sexy4myshooz Not even Fedor ín his prime destroyed Mirko, look at Mirko walking to the deressing room and take a look at Fedor, Fedors face was not looking nice did it? Mirko on the other hand was mostly looking dissapointed. and bearly bruised. How do you think Barnett could?? Barnett tried Mirko out three times and it did not go wel for himl any of em :)

  • @TheLastFraudster
    @TheLastFraudster 12 років тому

    What does Fedor have to do with Barnett chemically enhancing his body, getting caught and not being able to fulfil the event?
    Also I'm aware he's fighting on that SF card in Jan that BTW is looking more and more worthless every day but he's fighting Nandor Guelmino. Providing he doesn't get caught cheating again like he's ever not going to win that fight.
    I was just saying him vs Mir in the UFC would be an excellent match up that I'd like to see.
