A CVT could fail from power launching due to heat from friction and/or over stretching the drive belt. Please don't do that again unless you can afford a transmission replacement.
As an executive warranty claims administrator I can attest I’ve approved and denied countless cvt warranty claims on Honda. My advice would be to change your transmission fluid every 30k miles and avoid harsh, or abrupt change in acceleration.
Looked at a CRV and chose to avoid the tiny turbo. It makes me think of a gerbil on crack running on the wheel until it dies. Couldn’t get past that image. Looked at a local dealer for a small GM car, same issue. RAV4 was first choice but was thousands more than Subaru. Pretty happy with the Forester Wilderness so far.
@@alexg9727exactly , it’s not ideal to launch a CVT but it isn’t bad to do every once in a while all these people are saying like he put it in neutral revved and put it in drive
@@vincinuge since this car has no real launch control, it’ll just be like holding a rev while on the brake for a couple seconds to build boost especially for turbocharged cars
Launching a cvt is outrageous
what im sayin launching a cvt transmission slows your 0-60 time anyway
@@75sRax
Forget slowness, it’s adding an insane amount of heat to a transmission that fails because of heat.

Brake torquing CVT’s is what kills them.
Even Honda said so themselves.
Don’t do it if you want your 💩 to last

Honda clutch and cvt material are garbage
just like a prius it goes "nnnooooooooooooo"
except a prius is faster.
why did the tachometer needle just freeze at 6k rpm while the car kept going faster?
It's a hybrid
cvt transmission
@@lebrayor thank you
you are just so incredibly wrong@@donutsoldier
do you live under a rock and not know what a CVT is? Theyve literally been around since the 2000s
Damn those first 3 mphs are brutally slow
that's just me brake torquing it, it starts moving at around 4 seconds
@@mrmotionman69 I know... I'm not watching the tach lol
first 3 ? it went from 1,8,15 and 20 in a matter of a second
Brake boosting a CVT isn't worth it lol. Not only it damages it but you lose time.
i shaved off 0.4 seconds by brake boosting, and idc about the cvt lol
Bro put it in D after S never use L unless your stuck in something
in "L" is crazy and rip cvt
Why is the L crazy?
@@gianhub its low gear
holy, ive never seen a cvt launched before 😭 if i did that in my jatco cvt it would prob take a year off its life span 💀💀
honda cvt's hate being launched too, i just don't really care lol
Been there, needed a new 14 altima tranny. Now I have a 21 Mazda CX-5 lol
1234 miles lmao
Just noticed that
probably a rental lol don't buy a used one lol.
What's that rattling at the beginning?

other then cvt......nice car
you must drive a fye ass car to be hating on another like this

Launching a CVT is a horrible decision
in theory it wouldnt do much damage. Would just cause the torque converter to heat up more. CVT still uses a wet clutch torque converter
@@alexg9727exactly , it’s not ideal to launch a CVT but it isn’t bad to do every once in a while all these people are saying like he put it in neutral revved and put it in drive
sorry Im kinda dumb, when you say ''launch'' does that mean max power from a standing start or revving while on brake?
@@vincinuge since this car has no real launch control, it’ll just be like holding a rev while on the brake for a couple seconds to build boost especially for turbocharged cars
Why do you move from s to l, wouldn't it slow down the acceleration?
L helps keep it in its powerband instead of fake shifting in S mode, which makes it noticeably slower
why didn't it simulate gears ? and how do you get it to anyway
Low gear
8-9 seconds lol
@@Killa1337 it’s 7.05

About 8 seconds
7.2-7.4 according to stopwatch
Yeah it’s slow
@@sterlingarcher7101 surprise i guess?? its a honda civic not a m3

No, way closer to 8. This gen civic got slower, plus your launching slowed you down the first 30 mph.
This was in the
7.67- 7.85 range.
This is embarrassing.
it's a civic not an m3
okay steven.
