Paul Giammatti was not in _A Scanner Darkly_ , but he was in the preceding Philip K. Dick film adaption, _Paycheck_ that was released three years prior. So maybe that was the connection.
Also not to shamelessly plug my own podcast but Dickheads two parter on Scanner is my favorite episode with guest John Shirley we answer many of your questions. Haha
@@hugonautspod No but I can answer that. PG was in Paycheck and talked often about being a Huge Dickhead. He tried for years to play Phil in a Biopic, but they never got the project Greenlit, but he clearly developed a relationship with the estate.
This is Brent - been a lot of years since I read Ubik - long enough that I feel like I'd be going in totally fresh. One of my lit professors was cool enough to assign it in college. Looking forward to the re-read and talking about it on the show someday soon!
My first video of yours and when I heard the rating of 5 I thought you meant 5/10 and I was about to turn it off until I realized it was 5/5. Great book and great discussion
Great episode as PKD expert I expected to cringe a lot- I didn’t! Haha
Glad we didn't blow it!
I somehow never read this yet. On the wishlist!

He is one of my favourite authors, so i'm glad to see an episode dedicated to one of his books.
Ours too, he’s so talented!
I personally feel The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch is his best oh yeah our ASD episode is more of the backstory.

Do you talk about how Paul Giamatti ended up doing the audiobook narration?!

EKAT by Wolfe was written in the late '60s while Keesey was in jail at the end of the trip.
Always wanted to read that! Missed it when I was dabbling with the beats.
Would be interested to hear your thoughts on Ubik. It’s another melon twister
