What a brilliant flutorial! Under the knuckle... that’s exactly the information I was looking for!

Does the angle of the flute itself change anything? I'm a young flutist. I tend to play with my flute pretty much parallel to the floor, but I've noticed some of my more advanced peers play with the flute angled pretty downward. Does it make the tone sound better or change the tuning?

+xXMrsSnape You should probably not be playing your flute parallel to the floor, but it should not be at a drastic downwards angle either. The angle is around 25 degrees (don't measure with a protractor). The optimal position is a slightly below parallel, but not too down. What is important is how comfortable you are, but there are some restrictions. I often play my flute tilted lower, which is a bad habit I am working out of. When you get good enough; you can do whatever you want with your instrument, but when you are learning, you should stick to the rules. Hope this helps!

I'm a bit late, but the angle must be parallel to your embouchure. Most flutist play with their heads a little inclined, so that's why their position tends to be lower. I must play parallel to the floor because i use a special embouchure having a teardrop lip and tends to go upright, it's pretty weird, so it depends on your embouchure and head position

Dr. Klee what do you think of the Rockstro technique?

I was told that the left hand shouldn't be touching the flute. I'm very confused on how a flute should be held. I've been resting my flute above the knuckle and it vested a red spot on my hand.

How do you hold a flute with your knuckles?!?!

Not on the knuckle, like the side with your palm. I didn't know how to phrase it.
