    Yeah the style of video works well! Other ideas might be the different libraries around town, where you can buy food (some people in my year didn't know about Morrisons, or the ASDA delivered), and what NOT to bring (like a bicycle that you can buy second hand in town, dodgy electronics to use in halls because the uni will confiscate it, or a car - Fife parking police are ruthless)
    In terms of the content for this particular video, I'd add that at least in my year (post grad), at the start of the academic year, the union had a massive give away of items used by students who had left them behind in the previous year. I was able to go there and gather a few utensils and other decorative bits for my room in DRA which I wouldn't have otherwise brought with me as an international student.

    This is unrelated to the video but st Andrew's youtubers are a niche genre on UA-cam so I might as well ask , I want to apply for history at st Andrew's my grades currently meet the requirements however my gcses rlly r not top uni material , I got As and Bs for essay subjects and a couple Cs and Ds in everything else lmso will this count significantly against me ? I got an A* in my history gcse and predicted a level grades r fine it's just a couple science gcse grades I'm worried about lmaoo

      Hey! I'm not entirely sure how much weight is placed onto GCSE grades, however A-Level grades are definitely important. Of course, St Andrews is a prestigious and highly subscribed to university and therefore a strong set of results across the board are significant because of competition. However, provided your A-Level grades meet the requirements you should probably be okay. For every subject in St Andrews they do have a list of GCSE requirements - for History see the link below:
      www.st-andrews.ac.uk/subjects/history/history-ma-2021/
      I wish you all the luck however in your application and hope to see you here in September! Tom :)

    Hi, thanks guys for another really great video! 💗💗 As you were talking about nightlife and what to wear, i was wondering what kinda things people wear to the union? Is it more casual (jeans and a nice top) or more dressy (heels and dresses)? Also, I’m a Scottish student and due to the way our education system works, I’ll be 17 when I come to St. Andrews. I know I won’t be able to buy alcohol but was wondering if the pubs and bars ID on the door and if I would be able to get in under 18? X

    • @justkiki3091
      @justkiki3091  4 роки тому +5

      hi girl! so i would definitely say casual for the union (jeans and a cute top or a skirt) but for all the classy events like balls i would wear a dress - i've even worn dresses/rompers to the vic with boots or air force 1s. okay so you'll deffo be able to get into the union (but they'll put a big under 18 stamp on your wrist) - just give me a message on instagram (kiki.fazli) and i'll tell you a bit more about that on a less public place lol x kiki

    I will be travelling from India so this video helps a lot. Besides this, how likely do you think the session in sep would start considering the outbreak of Covid-19.

      I got an email from st Andrew's yesterday saying they plan to go ahead as planned, orientation week on the 7th, but they said they'll do online classes for anyone who cant physically get there for as long as needed

      Glad the video was helpful! You can also get a lot of free stuff during Fresher's Week that previous students have left behind - the union will usually host an event for this. We received an email saying that provided it is safe to travel the University will be returning to 'normal' in September - however, if you are unable to travel then dual teaching i.e. online teaching will be available. Hopefully though by then everything will be better and your Fresher's experience will be just the same as any other year!

    I’ve applied to do English and I was just wondering how I know what books I need? As you’ve said we could buy them from charity stores etc, do we have time to do this before lectures/tutorials start and how do I know what I need? Love the video x

    • @justkiki3091
      @justkiki3091  4 роки тому +1

      Faye Kirwan hi love! Some people (ie me) will be selling their books and will put stuff up on your st andrews Facebook group. Usually if you go to Blackwell’s and ask for the module books they’ll show you and then you can make note of them and pop to a charity shop. Also they should be online in the reading list page (which you can access from MySaint) in August x hope that helps :) kiki

    Hi) It's probably unrelated, but I want to apply for history at St Andrews, but I'm quite confused about the actual applying process, is there a bachelor program for medieval history? The official site says it's only MA, though they have ancient history for BA

    • @justkiki3091
      @justkiki3091  4 роки тому

      Лиза Замковая hi love! So the MA is actually a Bachelor degree - a masters degree is an M-something else for example an MLitt. There should still be an MA in ancient history and medieval history - which is the same equivalent as a Bachelor’s. Hope that helps x

    You mentioned storage. Is there a place to keep things over the summer so you don’t have to take everything home then back again for the next year?

    • @justkiki3091
      @justkiki3091  3 роки тому

      yes! there are several different storage companies that students can use to storage their belongings - they're either advertised by the uni or you can find them online (that's how i found mine) x

    Hi. I want to apply to St Andrews for their Creative Writing programme. What kind of co curriculum should I focus on in A levels, and what will help me stand out as an applicant ? It would be great if you could reply to this !

      @justkiki3091  4 роки тому

    • @saroo1238

      Just Kiki Im actually wanting to apply for English, but I had the term “creative writing” Swirling in my head so maybe that’s why I wrote it. I’d like to ask you the same question as I asked before which is, what should I be focused on in A levels along with my usual studies?

    • @justkiki3091
      @justkiki3091  4 роки тому

      Saroo 123 do what you’re passionate about - I would recommend delving into what parts of literature you’re interested in and reading one or two books which you can then include in your personal statement! That would make a great great impression x

    Do you find that any professors dislike the use of IPADS or laptops to take notes?

    • @justkiki3091
      @justkiki3091  4 роки тому +2

      Honestly this depends on the subject and individual lecturer. Most have no problem with using laptops etc for note taking, however I have had some in language classes who don't let us. Tom :)
