That's something I've had to learn with homeschooling. If something doesn't work, it may need to be re-evaluated and rethink some things. I'm in that process now. Thank you for sharing. I want to check the Evan Moore workbook out!

@Creating Community I forgot to mention that the $99 is for the whole year, or you can pay a monthly fee. They have a free trial. It is digital. I recently discovered their Non-fiction Writing book. It is scripted and divided into lessons. I also have a reluctant writer.

God has a funny way of helping me choose curriculum this year. 😂 I bought a used lot of Sonlight D Readers and it happened to come with the LA D packet with all the student pages and everything. I like the HBLs, but I originally had no interest in their LA. But I looked through and think I might as well try it next year since I have it. 🤷🏻♀️ It’s not as overwhelming as what IEW seems to be. Short lessons. 👍🏻

This sounds great! When I pulled my son out of public school at grade 4, his writing was so weak and he hated the subject. It was painful for quite some time. The first year we used something similar to this…it might even have been from Evan Moor, but it was the 6+ Trait. I’m still thinking about writing for next year…
Evan Moor has so many great resources. Bigger price tag doesn't always mean better curriculum , that's for sure.
@Creating Community Have you tried their Teacher File Box subscription? They have a database of most, if not all, their books. I believe from PK-8. It is about $99, but I have seen them hold a special price promotion of $69.
I’ve got a teenager who has been told to improve his writing and we tried IEW and it didn’t work for him!!! We where able to sell it to a friend in his theology class who needed the same help. Idk if it’s working for them!!! I’ve not thought of looking into even moore!!! We found no motivation for writing before he started this class!!! My older daughter is a few years younger and she loves writing and TGTB is working for her!!! It could have worked for my son if he did the writing assignments!!!

This sounds like a great choice for her. I agree. It's more important that they learn to like writing than scoring their writing.

I found the same thing with IEW and my 5th grade son this year. The DVDS were just so painfully long. We just completely dropped writing and will pick it up in 6th grade. We are going to try BJU 6th grade language arts next year. It seems to have writing instruction that may fit him better. Can't wait to hear all of your curriculum picks!
