Why don't they make poly synths that sound this good? I love the sounds of the Matriarch, Erebus, Poly D, Sub 37. Poly's just don't seem to get that beautiful warmth and dirt whilst still sounding smooth.
I am a big fan of early Numan stuff and like to make my own demo's of his stuff. to this end I have a Fostex 4 track, a Voyager Minimoog Old School and a Karp keyboard. I also have the Behringer Model D, to get the grittier sounds of the Moog that the Voyager have removed from their models. This though is the first keyboard from Behringer that I think will be a flop! The Odyssey is such a niche market and the Karp connected to a master keyboard as mine is, such a better product. Sequencer? I have a dark time. Effects Roland analogue chorus and delay. Mr Uli has not paid a penny to ARP. KORG has. So I am going to wait for the Pro One or the CS80. @@GEOSynths go get one. Lol! Just kidding. I love the way you make it all so palatable. Always been my dream to get my hands on these classics and now Behringer have made it within the reach of mere mortals like myself. Just starting out with the Poly D and I hope it doesn't stop here.
This video explains all the things the manual fails to tell.
OMG, that thing is heavier than a MODX7 (8.1 vs. 7.4 kg)! Sold anyway.
Kim Diez 16 pounds :)
And how many ounces are 16 pounds? 😁
Why don't they make poly synths that sound this good? I love the sounds of the Matriarch, Erebus, Poly D, Sub 37. Poly's just don't seem to get that beautiful warmth and dirt whilst still sounding smooth.
Made In Machines you’ve never heard a prophet?
Mono effects ? Why Behringer, why ???
@Boofsquad no u
For the extra couple of centimetres, for me it's not worth it.
anyone else have a constant drone issue or is this me being a twit? no the lfo repeat is not on
yep i watched this again- i am a twit
Make sure the VCA Gain is all the way down (Fader next to the Drive Switch, top right.
@@GEOSynths Lol! even though i had watched your viedo twice before the synth arrived, and then after a day making drones- i thought it was a low tinnitus at first.
Yes treat VCA gain with respect. Thanks for your videos. And yes i did turn it off and on again ;-)
Awesome synth
I really fancied one of these but there is no way of saving your patches and no presets I believe.
There is: it's called getting a piece of paper and writing them down. :)
@@benanderson89 Had to be said.
The Arp that it's copying didn't have a metal body, it was made from plastic back in the good old days. They weigh enough as it is.
4:59 Popcorn!?
Well done, you're the first to get it :)
@@GEOSynths The edit gave it away ;)
Well, crap. Just when you think you’ve got it beat, the GAS is back, full attack. Thanks a lot.
Haha...Glad I could help :)
I think you are giving Nick over at Sonic State a good run for the money;). Brilliant
I have too much of everything but I need this too
I know, I'm the same :)
ive got original 1972 white odyssey it sounds amazin ill get 1 soon better than korg odyssey
Blue LEDs....... WHY BERINGER?!!! WHYYYYYYY!!!
They're white mate, just couldn't be bothered to set the white balance on 4 Cameras :)
@@GEOSynths Oooohhh!! Fair enough m8 xD At least white makes sense seeing as the original Odyssey shifters had white markings too.
And you can alter the brightness.. Or turn them off altogether.
@@KRAFTWERK2K6 I think only the first batch has white LEDs - subsequent batches are colour coded
@@daithibailey You are correct.
I'm torn between this or the deepmind 12d.
Love these old or old like synths.
Great video.
Deepmind is more versatile.
@@GEOSynths
True
I have the deepmind 6
I want to add the 12d for 18 voices. It's 600
To the odyssey's 500.
I love the ody's old school tones.
(I'm an old guy)
The deepmind are just so sweet.
Yeah I think I will just go dm 12d.
And maybe the ody later.
I have a Korg minilogue and I can get old school there but it does not have the powerful tone of the ody.
(Edited for fat fingers and the damnable auto correct.)
@@kevingamache1512 Yeah, I made lots of patches for the Deepmind, in fact I came up with a w ay of thickening the sound for the 6 voice, but the 12 is a great machine. Yes, the Arp does have a sound to itself, but you can't go wrong with the DM12.
@@GEOSynths
Maybe you could do a video for the dm6 thickening????
Please.
@@kevingamache1512 here you go ua-cam.com/video/XBGuuxz0aFc/v-deo.html
THUNDERRRR
Still, I would rather have the Neutron....nice synth though.
Fabulous!!
The Barp blows the Karp out of the water. Behringer is destroying Korg in the cheap synths world
Well, they still have the module version; which is a great synth. But yeah, absolutely no reason to get their keyboard version now. Mini-keys need to die in my opinion.
I really love my Karp, tbh I don't think I'd change for this one
I'm not a player, so i still prefer korg module). Behringer may sound as good as korg, but it is a bit ugly, looks like frankenstein with cropped faceplate. Behringer needs a good designer for sure.
77advanced you should check out Edgar Winter and the ARP2600 for Frankenstein
This is a clone, and it looks nearly identical to the original.
@@nimbvs7233 actually it is not. They cropped faceplate sides, faders now too close to the edges, annecessary mono fx with rotary knobs looks strange. Original was a beautiful synth in terms of design, korg is close, but behringer is like a chinese iphone clone with a tv antena. At least it sound good).
That's cause you're young but Behringer's audience are old farts 50+.
@Boofsquad Big man comments again.
my washing machine is also made of metal.
How hard can it be to offer stereo FX this day in age...pretty basic thing
I think the FX probably are, but summed to mono as there's only a mono outpu, like the original.
best review most of vids garbage
I guess for this reason sinths are not for me. They all sound the same to me. I love the idea of carrying something compact, but the fact they all have the same basic bassy sounds, makes them boring to me.
