Man, I just love this song, it always bring tears to my eyes. What I think of when listening to it, I think of Nagara, or more specifically a Nagara who ended up on a generic path in life, mid-30s, mundane job (a possibility provided in the amazing and open-ended ending). He's gone to karaoke with the co-workers at the end of the work week and this is the song he's singing whilst semi-drunk, and as he sing he begins to be nostalgic, remembering his experiences in the Other Worlds as he sings.
I can not being to express this emotions I felt during the last episode while this was playing! I listen to to the ending every single time thank you, for such an amazing piece of music. ❤
I think through the entire show, I was sitting and watching with an apathetic look on my face, not unlike Nagara. I was mostly frustrated at the show's bizarre way of telling its story, and my mind was so completely occupied with trying to figure out what any of this means. But when I heard this song, specifically this acoustic version, I just started crying. I was balling my eyes out. I had never cried like that in a really really long time. And I hate shows like these. I prefer a more straightforward narrative to follow, but my god the emotions in and from this show couldn't be more real.
@PseudoWoundsbruh this’ wild Your list contains some old gems that I was only able to visit in the last year or so Somehow your recommendations fits some of mine 😂
bruh this’ wild, somehow your recommendations aligns with my watchlist 😂 Your list contains some old gems that I was only able to visit in the last year or so Although I will say, as a relatively active filmmaker IRL, I can appreciate differing preferences in viewing experiences. At the end of the day, it depends more on taste, background experiences (including differing cultural aspects & prior knowledge), available free time, etc. there’s a place for both more straightforward experiences and more cerebral/thought provoking ones. Just like how there’s nothing particularly wrong if you can enjoy MCU stuff and the German limited series Dark And just because something’s relatively straightforward doesn’t mean it’s necessarily vapid either. E.g. how Gurren Lagann can be considered a hopeful antithesis to the mostly gloomy thesis of Evangelion. Even stuff like Naruto & One Piece can actually carry interesting real world concerns built into the artistic zeitgeist of the story (although admittedly they’re fluffed up to hell & I can’t follow them much either due to the dragging length). Something I recently realized after watching a compelling video essay from Moon Channel on why RPGs have a god killing trope (basically they’re a cry of hope for change against a decaying & suffocating status quo) But I do admit I wish there are more variations in the predominant viewing & general appraising culture in regards to this dichotomic spectrum. But it makes sense why one is more accessible to the other. Especially when one considers available free time and how the nature of communication works (the simpler, more straightforward message is bound to be more readily understood)
@harsh-uy1qr Rare to see someone talk about Tatami galaxy, amazing anime with very similar theme and storytelling as Sonny Boy, the whole time I was watching Sonny Boy I couldn't stop thinking that it was kinda like a 2020 version of Tatami Galaxy, less funny, less fast, more depressed, more hopeless, but equally amazing, love both of them.
I love this version of the song so much when the show ended it was just amazing. Depressingly hopeful i guess is a good way to put it? But that's kind of what the ending is about anyways.

My favorite version of this song. So emotional, sentimental and bittersweet
Here i am at 4:30 A.M., crying and fullfilled with feelings. Thank you
