Thanks for the honest review...it's so hard to get honest review these days because people are getting them from companies to review their products and eventually they give a positive one. Thanks

For sure the rembrandts aren't that pigmented and I was quite disappointed with the darks that aren't dark enough. As many have pointed out, they make good underlayer and you will need the softer pastels to go on top for contrast and vibrance. Thanks for sharing.

They have an extra dark set with 15 pastels they added later to the range.

Hi. Quick question, is the white opaque enough to go on top of a dark color?

Hi there! In soft pastels you can put lighter colors on top of darker colors. You can do that with this set. But remember these aren't the most buttery pastels so it might take some layers. If you have a softer pastel like sennelier you can do that much easier. 😊

It's a year later and just received my pastels in the US. They don't have that coating you experienced. I don't like the paper at all. I ended up using clear gesso on watercolor paper.

Oh I have heard of that clear gesso, but have not tried it yet. I am glad yours didn't have that coat, it's not the worst thing to have it but it is a better experience if you don't. Make a lot of art, now that you have them, and have a lot of fun! 😊 Happy new year!!! 🎉
