A very well thought out project and very well well filmed!!! I'm impressed with how quickly and easily a baby toy can be made that will surely keep little ones entertained for hours. Thank you so much for sharing your skill! 👶🏻 Also, thank you for mentioning where to buy the bag of rattles! 😉
Headed to Joann's for the fabric. I love the rattles and hope I can find them in a craft store. Amazon has a great bargain on them but I could never use 55. Next cereal is getting dumped into a baggie as we speak and revving up sewing machine. Our family will have a new little one arriving in May and you have inspired me. Thank you for this great video. Instructions are very clear and detailed.
I LOVED your video and appreciate all the hard work you've done!!! I didnt have a chance to read any of the other comments - but I love that you used a cereal bag! I've made a few of these for friends, family, as well as my own kid's - and have used cereal bags each time! They're food grade safe and hold up GREAT in the washer and dryer! I wanted to share that lil tidbit of info, in case it might be helpful to anyone else !!!
Oh sooo cute ☺️. I got some scraps and this is a great idea ! I remember my kids loving their security stuffed bunnies, they wore down the silky tags till they were gone …😁 . This is a prefect gift for the baby showers I am attending …many friends turning grandparents and I know I will be the one with the unique gifts 🎁! I will be making lots cause they need one in the car, one at grandma, one at the other granny, one in the diaper bag, one in the stroller, one in TV room ….can’t have too many . Hehehe …So thank you very much for the video !
Beautifully done video. I love that you took time to show us how to replace the walking foot because I’ve never quilted before and this would be my first time replacing the foot. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you for great instructions. Pronunciation is Sha kneel not Chanel the perfume. Just passing on that info. I love everything about your instructions. Well done!
This is a fantastic tutorial. Thank you very much. 💐. When you press it, do you have to use a dry iron and not too hot if there is plastic inside or do the other fabrics prevent it from melting?
Hi Juliette, I looked back in my description and noticed I didn’t have a link posted for the quilt batting. So thanks for that. I have now added a link. I use the warm and natural. Here’s the link. amzn.to/3h8dUyN
Great project. My only question or concern is the plastic. Could it mold when washing and staying damp for a while? I think the prepackaged wrinkle plastic is mold resistant but not sure about recycled plastics.
Just got my girst practically new sewing machine and really trying to figure it out. But which needle can you use for this and also what thread stitch width and length and design do you recommend?
I have seen a few different names for it. You can also call it “minky dimple micro chenille.” It was labelled as chenille at the fabric store where I bought it. At least we know what it is and it’s so soft and fun.
Yes, you can sell them. Maybe leave the rattles out or add a safety note like I added in the description. Safety note: Never leave baby unattended while playing with toy and always check that there are no open seams to allow rattle to come out.
Translation: Bells don't rust or I don't know what they call them Los sonajeros son de plástico para que no se oxiden The rattles are plastic so they won’t rust.

Hello in Austin! Awesome! Thank you!
These are so cute, Have you washed any and if you have how to they wash?
Yes I have washed and all good. For the dryer just air no heat or just dry on a rack.
I am making this for my 1 year old since she still likes activity toys. Got a sewing machine as a gift and it's my seccond project fingers crossed.
This will be a perfect project you. You will learn lots while making a sensory toy for your little one.

I just watch this sensory ideas I love your methods you are going to make go to dollar tree to look for this one. 🙏
Glad you enjoyed the video!

You bet!
I love the recycled idea!!
Great!
This is a fantastic tutorial. Thank you very much. 💐. When you press it, do you have to use a dry iron and not too hot if there is plastic inside or do the other fabrics prevent it from melting?
I only pressed on the top side which has the quilt batting to protect the plastic when ironing. Just a quick iron before top stitching.
Great tutorial! Just wondering how these hold up in washer and dryer. Would the rattles rust, or the crinkle paper melt?
Wash in warm water and hang to dry is best.
Great idea to use cereal bag.
It works great!
Thank you. This would be a great practice before you make a big quilt.
I think so too! A little 4 patch!
Hi. I love the cereal bag 💡. What brand of batting do you use? Do you have a link? I'm having such a hard time finding one I like.
Hi Juliette,
I looked back in my description and noticed I didn’t have a link posted for the quilt batting. So thanks for that. I have now added a link. I use the warm and natural. Here’s the link. amzn.to/3h8dUyN
I just found your videos and live them. This is too cute! Do you think it would be too hard without a walking foot? Thanks for sharing.
Yes, you can get by without a walking foot. It just helps to prevent puckering when you are sewing a few layers together.
Love this!
Glad you love it!
cute great tutorial! I cant wait to try you made it look easy!
I’m sure you will be able to sew up a cute sensory toy.
I am going to try it as a one square with a cereal wrap
Perfect. Will still work just fine.
Good idea!
Great project. My only question or concern is the plastic. Could it mold when washing and staying damp for a while? I think the prepackaged wrinkle plastic is mold resistant but not sure about recycled plastics.
I would hope that plastic cereal bags are safe as they package cereal in them. But I have not researched this so can’t give you an answer.
Thank you for this lovely video x
Your very welcome!
Adorable! Thank you
You welcome!
How do you launder these toys and keep them sanitized ?
You can wash them in cold/warm water in the washing machine and then air dry.
Good question!
Could I use the plastic that come in the cereal box do you think that would work ....this is such a wonder ideal thank you God bless
Yes, I show that in the video using a cereal bag. Works great!
I was wondering what size stitch she’s using to sew everything together. Thanks
Just a regular stitch
Just got my girst practically new sewing machine and really trying to figure it out. But which needle can you use for this and also what thread stitch width and length and design do you recommend?
Just a universal needle and medium stitch length is fine with a straight stitch.
Hi Patti, the dimple shenille is Minky Dots ;)
I guess depending on where you live it can be called different names.
Thanks!
You bet!
Very cute
Thank you! Cheers!
What kind of fabric did you use for the 5” squares?
It would be a quilting cotton.
Where can I get the rattles. Love your video
I had a link for the rattles in the description below the video.
I bought mine at Amazon
Rattle inserts for toys

I think that fabric you are calling chenille is actually called ‘minky’. In this case I think ‘bubble minky’ is correct.
I have seen a few different names for it. You can also call it “minky dimple micro chenille.” It was labelled as chenille at the fabric store where I bought it. At least we know what it is and it’s so soft and fun.
Interesting. I have some minky. But, it’s far fuzzier. I would never have guessed this for that.
Could the cereal bag be washed
In the washing machine .
Yes, as above reply.
Does bag melt in dyer
You can wash it but don’t put it in the dryer. Hang to dry.
Are these washable in machine
Yes! Just air dry them.
How safe for the baby are the Dollar Store ribbons?
Some ribbons are better quality then others. The ribbons that have a good woven edge and won’t fray are okay. Just stay away from the cheaper ribbons.
Can't find source for rattles in the description. Please tell.
Lots of info in the description but the link is there.
Here it is for you.
Rattle
amzn.to/3ivbhpL
hi are they dryer safe
I made a note at the end of the video but you might have missed it. You can wash them in the washing machine but you need to air dry. So no dryer.
Can you wash these in the washing machine?
Yes, they can go in the washing machine. Let them air dry if you put in the rattles. If no rattles then you can put them in the dryer too.
I’m thinking about making some of these. Can I sell these?
Yes, you can sell them. Maybe leave the rattles out or add a safety note like I added in the description.
Safety note:
Never leave baby unattended while playing with toy and always check that there are no open seams to allow rattle to come out.
I don't feel the bobbles are safe for a baby but cute idea
Thanks for your comment.
great project but these cant be put in the washing machine 😢
Yes, you can put them in the washing machine but let them air dry or cool dryer setting.

That is called Dimpled Minky
Yes. Many different names for it depending on where you live.
The rattle inserts do not meet government standards for infant toys. Infants and toddlers might choke if the rattle comes out of the cloth cover.
You may be right. But you should never a leave a baby unattended and toys should always be checked for safety before using.
