Congratulations that's very exciting!!! I have made tutorials of most of these projects now and they're all linked in the description box of this video. If I've missed any that you're interested in though just let me know. Happy sewing!!
I would add a big zippered, net or mesh laundry bag; big enough to go from washer to dryer and maybe a few. I like to add 2 scratch mitts in 2 sizes realizing they may never be used; seems they're needed most at some o'clock diaper change or before payday. I like kimono shirts using twill tape (or self-make single fold) and snaps for the NB-3m size; i "line" sealing at the bottom hem rather than fuss with bias. (This comes from no single pattern et al, feel free to use at will.) If they're using a porta crib, I like to make a porta crib cover with deeper boxed corners going down the sides for use as a sun cover; or a 2 layer with the corners cut out and ties, tabs with snaps, tabs with snaps to secure the corners and top. If a summer baby, I like to make car seat ponchos, bucket covers, stroller covers, etc..out of breathable fabric; similar fir rain/snow protection in winter using a rip-stop nylon, poly shower curtain, or similar. I like to make washable, travel diaper changing pads using a self-binding blanket design with pouch pocket across the bottom which has a single stitch line up the center to create two channel pockets; for fabrics, i prefer thinner terry against baby and quilting cotton/poly cotton for the shell and pocket so they can be pretty much single use and wash although some prefer PUL for the shell and its added protection.
With my first baby I was gifted a sling. I found it a good idea, but it was too big, my babies were all six pounders. So with baby three I sat down and designed and built one on a smaller scale. It was so useful! They are the best hands free or nearly free device on the market. I made mine with a woven scrap and found really inexpensive, strong plastic rings, so almost free. My “baby” turns thirty in two weeks, there are so many things now we didn’t have then. I really like those grocery store basket cover things, not having to worry about trying to clean those would be nice. And car seats are so much easier to manage, I like the idea of the ones that snap into a stroller frame, but have not used one to see if they work well in practice.

Hi there, new subbie here, also a new Nanna in rural south Aussie, so it’s awesome to see you’re from Adelaide 👏🏻 I’m searching for a tutorial for making shopping trolley covers 🛒 for mainly the bit where you pop your toddler in the seat, or the baby seat part too. Especially now we don’t like the thought of the baby coming into contact with the trolley, so even after a quick clean with the sanitary wipes it would be lovely to make something that you can cover those areas of the shopping trolley with, it would also be more comfortable for the baby’s too. Thank you, watching this space with interest 😘
Oh I love that idea! I've never made one so I'd need to learn but I'll certainly look into it and see if I can find a pattern or come up with one. Thanks for the suggestion!
My wife would love to see video on wet bags for babies we are grand parents of little ones. She has friends that are having children such a neat idea! Thanks marie
Hi Marie, I found you when searching for a cot sheet tutorial, and so pleased I found your channel as I really wanted to watch an Aussie and I'm enjoying looking through your other baby things to sew as I am going to be a grandmother in November, and would like to have a go at making some things for the baby to have at my house.
Congrats on becoming a Grandmother in November! How exciting! What projects do you have in mind that you're hoping to make? I'm so glad my cot sheet tutorial was a helpful one for you
Marie, today I sewed the fitted cot sheet and it was so easy and turned out perfect, so thank you! Next I want to make a play mat/quilt for the floor. Also I want to make some more bedding items for the cot.
Hi Marie, I live in Anglesey, North Wales and I am very new to sewing, just made some dog bandanas and bunting so far! I love your video and feel inspired to make a few of your best sewing projects. Taggy Toys, Dribble Bibs, Wet Bags, Cot sheet and Covers for the Ikea Boxes are my “I wish I could make” list! I have subscribed and will try the Taggy Toys first. Looking forward to watching more of your tutorials. Emma
Thanks Emma for connecting! I love hearing you're inspired to give some of those tutorials a go! The taggy toy is a great one to start with as a beginner. You'll have to let me know how you go with them or send me a photo 😃 happy sewing!
I made long sleeved bibs for my daughter and they were indispensable. I found all of the plastic ones were too big and just allowed food to run off onto her lap and the plastic kept getting in her way while eating. The ones I made were recycled fleece blanket and waterproof sheeting that absorbed spit ups and kept her clean without getting in her way while eating. Essentially a wide T shape with bias binding holding the sleeves together. Really useful.
Sewing nesting is much more fun than cleaning nesting hehe You're so close!!! Congrats on your pregnancy. We had our baby boy early on 27th January. I was so done with pregnancy so I was grateful for an early arrival. I just posted a video announcing his name
Absolutely!! Aw congratulations! I just saw the video - he is gorgeous!! I am so ready for my wee girl to arrive now 😆 I love being pregnant but I’m so so ready to meet her!
I would love a car seat cover tutorial if you haven’t posted one already please. I also used mine for nursing. It was a great cover for that too. And depending on the fabric, its cute to wear with your outfits as a stylish scarf between feedings.

That's very kind that you want to make one for your daughter in law - I'm sure she would love it sewtootpatterns.com/ring-sling-tutorial/
Hi. I was browsing looking for things to make for a friend whose first baby is on the way. You are amazing. I learned so much of what to make and not to make. It was really fun watching. Thanks and I look forward to other videos of yours. Stay safe. 🙂 ~ Arlene
I have made receiving blankets, burp pads, crib blankets, bibs, diaper stackers when they were popular, crib sheets, baby quilts etc. Love making all these!
Yes definitely dangerous if unsupervised. We never have it on our baby unless we are there with the pram - but then again, who leave a baby in a pram unattended anyway. Definitely need to use things safely of course.
Great video, thanks for sharing your ideas. This will be our first grandchild and so I'm very interested in all your ideas and patterns. How can I get them? Thanks again for your help.

I would like to see a baby car seat cover tutorial please ☺️I love that taggy toys & will definitely makes those 👌. Would the change mat cover be made in PUL? 🥰
Definitely make a taggy toy - they're a great project. I have plans to make a car seat cover in the next month so stay tuned! If you want to make one sooner check out "patterns for pirates" who have a free car seat cover pattern. The change mat can be made out of PUL if you want it to be waterproof and wipeable. You can also use mink or another soft comfy fabric but then it needs to be washed not frequently because it's not wipeable, but is more comfortable
Wow that's great you've made some of my projects! I love hearing that!! I can't find the blog post I read to make the ring sling, but this is where I got the rings from. thesleepstore.com.au/brand/the-sleep-store/sling-rings-large Hopefully I can make a ring sling tutorial at some point but there may be one online you can follow in the mean time
Hi Kim! The wet bag video is being released next on my channel so it'll be available in a few days time. I haven't made a crib sheet set video yet but plan to in the future
I would love to see all of the ideas of the things you mention. I would like to make these for an adopted baby coming but I dont know how big fitted sheets are etc. I would love to know what size etc for that and a changing sheet. Thank you so much
Congratulations on your upcoming adoption! That's very exciting. I've made a change table cover so that video is linked in the description box but I haven't done a fitted sheet yet. Hopefully I can do that soon, but I'm the meantime this is a good video to help: ua-cam.com/video/_RkD7sMiLFA/v-deo.html
Yes can do, though because each changing pad is a different shape it'll be more the instructions about how to work it out for the changing pad you have if that makes sense
@@MyMumMakes yes that makes sense. Thank you I'm almost 20 weeks and expecting my first. I've been bust making all kinds of stuff for her but I cant seem to find a good video of how to make a few things.
@@bruss081 ohhhh congratulations! You're half way there, how exciting! I'll be posting some more baby related content in the next few months ago hopefully my tutorials will be helpful for you in preparation for your little one coming
Ohhh good idea. I likely won't get to it until next June because that's when Reuben will be turning 1. I'll likely make something similar to what I made as am Easter outfit though (just in a larger size). So bloomers, suspenders and a bow tie. I'll link the Easter outfit video and Elijah's Christmas outfit because they would both be good places to start for boy outfits Easter outfit; ua-cam.com/video/081pxQ0V_uU/v-deo.html Christmas outfit; ua-cam.com/video/SXynjPGOGkY/v-deo.html
I’ve found car seat covers are also great for protecting baby by deterring people from touching and hovering over them. I’ll never understand why as soon as some people see a baby all notions of personal space go out the window!
I can't agree more!! I use the car seat cover for that too. I've had people pull their mask down to shove their head in the pram to get my baby's attention. Shouldn't the fact we were having to wear masks tell them that personal space is kinda important and maybe they should back off?!
Sure I'll work on those tutorials soon. Wet bags you need to use PUL which is a water proof fabric. I've got a video going out this weekend where I'm unboxing and lovely PUL from Noosa Fabric Co so keep your eye out for the video if you're interested
How did I know know of your videos? Can you please share the car seat cover, taggy toys, dribble bibs, and wet bag? I now have 15 grandchildren and the oldest is probably going to make me a nana soon, he just loves homemade items. I have done. Blankets for him as he grew. So this would be great.
Hi Sharon! That's very exciting that you're soon to be a Nana, and lovely to hear that your oldest grandson lives homemade items. They're so special and sentimental. If you click the little down arrow next to the title which will open up the description box to "see more" the links to each tutorial are there. Let me know if you can't find it though and I'll try to send it in a different way
That's a funny sorry actually...I found it on Facebook marketplace for free! An office was giving a couple of them away from their meeting rooms when they were upgrading furniture. So I got it for free! Sorry to not be any real help. It is a good table. Nice and big and I like the white glass with the silver legs
@@maureenirving8156 we used "modern cloth nappies" that are all in one so no pins or storage pilchers. It looks like a disposable in the way it functions but you clip it on using snaps
Thanks Ana that's very sweet of you. I've made a few which are linked in the description box, and as I make more I'll come back to this video and link them here too
I have a question! You might not know, but I want to make baby clothing with the fabric I have since I have so much. I don't have any kids yet, but I keep seeing in baby sections that there is organic fabric and stuff like that. A lot of my fabric is super snuggle flannel fabric from Joanne's. I just want to know if this is safe fabric so when I make these outfits, it's safe for when I have kids. (Sorry for the longer question!! I'm hoping to make dresses and overalls )
Tricky question but I'll answer at least with what I know. Flannel is not recommended for use for sleep wear but is suitable generally for other clothing. The best fabric for babies is natural fibres because they're more breathable and help them not overheat. I think it would be fine to make dresses and overalls out of your flannel stash though but as with all baby clothes you just want to watch how it affects their body temperature based on your climate. Not sure if that's helpful but that's as much as I know I'm afraid
They're on my "don't bother" list to be honest. Babies can't use them for safety reasons so I'd rather just wait and make a bigger size one once they're a toddler
I would love a cot sheet tutorial, and also the IKEA box cover tutorials! Now I think I might have the motivation to make another stack of bibs for my daughter, I thought I had enough... you’re right, you can NEVER have enough especially when they are teething!

I Love everything You have made!! I noticed that the baby bed- hope You know has a Recall !! I saw it at Wal-Mart. They have Recall's on the wall behind the Returns Desk.😮
We don't have Walmart here in Australia but I'm sure there would be similar recalls here if necessary. What was it though that was recalled?
Would love to know how to make a fitted sheet.
Thanks for the great tips.
No worries Ann, I'm glad you liked it.
Sure I can make a video about that. Thanks for commenting!
Thanks. Have you made a tutorial for making a sleep sack?
No I'm sorry I haven't, I've always just bought them to be honest
I would love how to make your fitted cot sheet, dribble bibs
Thankyou for sharing your experience🙂
Just followed your tutorial on how to make a taggy toy! Could you do a video on how to make pillows or cushions for a nursery? Great video!
Good idea. Just like a standard size cushion or something in particular?
@@MyMumMakes I was thinking like animals, owls, dogs, cats, that sort of thing
@@sophienioche4949 ohhhh yep good one. I have a lion cushion I've made which is in my kids play area and I'm sure I could make other animals in the same way. I'll have a go at it and see how I go
Hi, great video, thanks! I would love to see how you make the ikea box covers and the cot sheets 🙂
Thanks for the feedback! I'll gladly make those videos, likely in January or February at this point. Thanks for watching
Those are pretty lovely ideas. I would like tutorials for everything you didn't make tutorials for now.
Excellent! I'm working on the storage box covers for a video coming up soon and I recently did a video on wet bags. I'm glad you liked my ideas 🥰
This was a very nice video. So glad to stumble upon it. I would love to see a tutorial on making a car seat cover or a car seat canopy.

Love what you have made ans would love to see how you make the cot sheet
Would love to know the dimensions for the car seat cover and a tutorial for wet bags. They are great!@
Sure no worries! I've made tutorials for both of those now so the links are in the description box of this video

I think cotton or flannel diapers would be great. Something without all the Kamsnaps.
Yes that's true. Maybe with an elasticated cover instead of all the snaps. That would certainly be easier to make
Would love to see how you made the cubby covers!
Certainly! I've got some Easter tutorials up next but they're certainly high on my list to do very soon
Would love the tutorial for the sheets. Bibs too. Thanks so much
My pleasure! I haven't made a sheets video at this point but hope to soon
Hi Marie,
I would love to know how to make the Ring Sling.
Absolutely love your videos!!
I have made your Taggy Toys, Wet bags and the bean bags!
Wow that's great you've made some of my projects! I love hearing that!!
I can't find the blog post I read to make the ring sling, but this is where I got the rings from. thesleepstore.com.au/brand/the-sleep-store/sling-rings-large

Hi Marie. Would you mind sending me link for crib blanket? And wet bag?
Hopefully I can do that soon, but I'm the meantime this is a good video to help: ua-cam.com/video/_RkD7sMiLFA/v-deo.html

swaddles and portable changing pads
Thanks I'll keep those ideas in mind :)
Can you do a tutorial for changing pad covers as well as the crib sheets?
Yes can do, though because each changing pad is a different shape it'll be more the instructions about how to work it out for the changing pad you have if that makes sense
@@MyMumMakes yes that makes sense. Thank you I'm almost 20 weeks and expecting my first. I've been bust making all kinds of stuff for her but I cant seem to find a good video of how to make a few things.

My brothers 1st birthday is coming up. Could you do a boys 1st birthday outfit tutorial?
Ohhh good idea. I likely won't get to it until next June because that's when Reuben will be turning 1. I'll likely make something similar to what I made as am Easter outfit though (just in a larger size). So bloomers, suspenders and a bow tie. I'll link the Easter outfit video and Elijah's Christmas outfit because they would both be good places to start for boy outfits

Thanks !!! I would use that.
I’d like to make the Covers for the cubbies
I've since done a video about that so I'll link it below. I hope it's helpful!

Hi 👋
Would love the cot sheet tutorial! And the IKEA box covers would be great too :)
Which fabric do you use for the wet bags?
Sure I'll work on those tutorials soon.
Wet bags you need to use PUL which is a water proof fabric. I've got a video going out this weekend where I'm unboxing and lovely PUL from Noosa Fabric Co so keep your eye out for the video if you're interested

That's a funny sorry actually...I found it on Facebook marketplace for free! An office was giving a couple of them away from their meeting rooms when they were upgrading furniture. So I got it for free! Sorry to not be any real help. It is a good table. Nice and big and I like the white glass with the silver legs
I'm interested to know if you've made covers for cloth nappies?
No I haven't actually. There was too much margin for error with nappies and covers so I just bought cloth nappies for our kids.
@MyMumMakes we used to have pilchers which were waterproof and went over cloth nappies. What do you use?
@@maureenirving8156 we used "modern cloth nappies" that are all in one so no pins or storage pilchers. It looks like a disposable in the way it functions but you clip it on using snaps

Thank you so much!

How about baby quilts?
They're on my "don't bother" list to be honest. Babies can't use them for safety reasons so I'd rather just wait and make a bigger size one once they're a toddler
