    Thank you! Somebody just quoted me $300 to do this and I said I think I'll do it myself. About the same as an oil change and I don't know why I was so intimidated by this job.

      It can be on some cars if you have to drop a transmission pan and do the filter/gasket. Glad it helped and thanks for watching!

      @@theguyofalltrades so does my 2015 GMC Acadia have a filter and does that need to be replaced? experiencing TC slipping currently but thought I'd do a full flush like you did and then try some Lucas Transmission Fix. Great video btw.

    • @ShadowOppsRC
      @ShadowOppsRC 6 місяців тому +1

      There is a filter but it is not a serviceable item. Transmission has to be dropped out and the 2 Transmission cases have to be split to get to it. The lucas Transmission addative is a good product.

    My 13 Acadia is shuddering as soon as it shifts to 3rd gear about 80% of the time. Could it be my fluid and filter causing this?

    So total quarts used was like 8 ?

    • @theguyofalltrades
      @theguyofalltrades  6 місяців тому

      I had 10 quarts when I did the change. The first draining was just over 4 quarts the second was closer to 4.5. I think maybe 2 gallons and s quart would be good

    • @theguyofalltrades

      170 to 199 is normal temp for most transmissions. I basically drive it around until the temp steadied out. 10 minutes or so

    Why do you do it twice? Why isnt one change enough? The second time gets more crud out, cleans better?

    • @theguyofalltrades
      @theguyofalltrades  4 місяці тому +1

      Recommended by Honda to do it twice otherwise it’s not a full flush. Half of the 9-10 quarts is in the torque converter so the only way to get most of it replaced is to flush twice. Color of the fluid definitely changed between the two times

    • @theguyofalltrades
      @theguyofalltrades  11 місяців тому +1

      Nope I would avoid it because the transmission fluid will be hot. It’s already very thin in viscosity so it will splatter even more when draining

    Car should be leveled

    • @theguyofalltrades
      @theguyofalltrades  Рік тому +1

      Honestly the same amount of 4-4.5 quarts comes out even on a lift. Level would be ideal but for most diy’ers they have to contend with their sloped driveway.

    • @flyer8493
      @flyer8493 Рік тому +2

      If you have a sloped driveway use ramps at the bottom of your driveway with your car facing down hill. Drive down the driveway up onto the ramps. You may need to move your ramps forward or back depending on how sloped your driveway is but if done right the front of your vehicle is lifted and your level.

    AND YES IF IT HAS AN EXTERNAL COOLER THEN YOU CAN ADD AN IN LINE FILTER !!!!!!!!!!! AT YOUR OWN RISK ((( BECAUSE IF IT LEAKS YOUR THEN IN TROUBLE !! ))
