  • www.isrtv.com presents a DIY brake pedal mod for the Thrustmaster TX and T300RS pedal set.
If you own a TX or T300 RS you know that the brake pedal leaves a lot to be desired. I've always said that if it had a progressive brake, they would make for a decent set of pedals. Sure they're missing a clutch, but the other two pedals do a decent job for you.
Now there's a way you can do a quick, cheap and easy mod to your T300 or TX brake pedal to add some progression to help you hit your marks more consistently under braking for about $10.00. Our forums are such a great place to find mods like this and I'd like to thank ashasha for sharing this one with us.

This looks good, the initial mod put me under the impression that all the rubber mushing around at the end of the axis could take some of the braking ability, but your final mod looks like it's compressing just right, allowing the pedal to go near 100%. If I can come across these exact components I might have to try this on the pedals for my DFGT.

Alternate idea you might like. So I ran out and tried this but man the pedal was so hard I didn't find it had that much feel, plus it drastically reduced the travel of the pedal so that meant a lot of tweaking. What I preferred I actually found in the exact same section but at home depot. Self adhesive Surface Grip 1 1/2" table leg anti-sliders. 2 bucks. They're actually made out of lightweight black foam so they compress and as they compress the get harder to compress. So you can literally feel the pedal getting stiffer as you get closer to locking up the breaks. It still effects pedal travel by not by as much. I stick one each side just like the video. Then sandwich one in the middle. If you want it stiffer you could fit 2 in the middle.

Very nice and easy mod. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!! Thanx for sharing. The nice thing is since we now have the general idea I think there are a ton of different rubber shapes and hardness, might take a little time but you'll definitely be able to fine tune over time. Thanx again what an idea.

Nice video as usual Darin. I would wholly suggest changing the position as you suggested from what I originally came up with because it's a more elegant and probably effective configuration. I'm going to swap mine around tonight as a matter of fact.

Simple solution I used was scrapping the springs out of an old size D battery compartment. The three springs attached to the flat area behind the pedal with 3m 20lb all weather double sided tape ( similar to very strong servo tape) the three springs have a few millimeters of gap between the spring face and pedal. Result is a progressive resistance feel as the springs give more resistance through the stroke until they coil bind. Let's me get a better more consistent braking action

Darin can you please confirm what exact size of bumpers you used as the ones in the picture look bigger than the amazon example that has the sizes. I can see about 3 different sizes on Amazon UK. Gonna need to find a substitute for the waxman grippers as they cost a fortune here for some mad reason! Cheers

Hi Darin thank you for the help again but I don't have these sets of pedal lol. But I do have the DSD pedal the one you reviewed on your show.

This looks good, I'm going to go out and do this now, it's so annoying trying to hit that magic breaking point with no resistance....I just leave clouds of tyre smoke everywhere :D

This could be a lifesaver. I just ordered a TMX wheel because I was outbid on a TMX Pro. This will help pass the time until I decide if I want to upgrade my entire set or just the peddles.

Hi there, so in order for this to work properly for GT6 on PS3, you have to push the brake pedal all the way on which moment... Once the console starts? once the game starts? Before the wheel turns itself side to side calibrating? After?

does the thrustmaster t300rs support clutch pedal and shifter?

Thanks for this video! I just got a T150 that came with T300 pedals and I ordered the parts to do this mod (a little harder to find 8 years later.) A question: can you still push the pedal all the way down? I’m using it with GT7 which doesn’t have any options to create a breaking deadline, so I’m a bit concerned I won’t be able to apply the brakes fully.
