Glennis respects the original artist and song by keeping 99% of the songs arrangement and style that we fell in love with.
...but still shows her own personality and glow! Thats what makes it so impressive beyond her singing.
For my personal point of view she has more power and colours in her voice than Whitney had at the time this song was recorded, especially in the higher registers. Would have loved to hear Whitney with her early voice on her later songs. Love both of them, just my personal point of view.

Whitney started to struggle during the Bodyguard era from heavy smoking and a grueling concert schedule. That being said, Late 80's Whitney had one (if not) the prettiest voice I've heard from any female singer. Truly remarkable! If I may suggest, you can look up Wendy Moten's rendition of I Will Always Love You from 1994 with David Foster. IMHO, the best to ever do a Whitney cover (after Whitney herself, of course) with Glennis coming at a close 3rd.

JM Reyes I agree, there are many singers out there who sound close to Whitney but nothing as close in terms of vocal technique, vibrato, tone and timbre as Glennis, she is very talented and talent like that is rare, Leona Lewis is also one of the most talented singers in this day and age as she stands out, although she is so underrated.
cassandra cavalcante I know your gonna hate me but I think not so much her falsetto but her vibrato is in a league of its own, if you sat and closed your eyes for a moment I bet there would be a few people who'd have a hard time telling the difference between a Whitney carbon copy and the real Whitney...And the thing is Glennis doesn't even try to copy her, she's got a voice that happens to sound a like, even if people feel she is imitating her, there are some subtle differences. I doubt she could change her tone even if she wanted too, for that is an asset.

There are wanna be divas, then there are real divas. Like Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, probably Carly Simon and Aretha Franklin, and Dionne Warwick. Glennis is definitely in the REAL category. No showing off, no drama, no publicity stunts. Just an incredibly talented artist who loves doing what she does best.

This is not an easy song to sing. I believe even Christina Aguilera struggled with it. Yet Glennis has the Vocal fortitude to tame it.

For all those critics....Glennis won a Dutch National Competition called the Soundmixshow in 1994(Who best impersonated a singer), she did a very impressive impersonation of Whitney. She was only 16 years old then!
She since build a very nice career and does have her own repertoire. But at these Ladies of Soul Concerts (Dutch singers) she always does one Whitney song.
Her own voice is just as Whitney's was...she can't help that.

Of course she isn't Whitney. Glennis is a great singer and she does some of the best, if not the best Whitney covers. But, she isn't even close to Whitney because there is something in Whitney's voice that nobody else has. The power, the soul, the operatic head notes etc. Glennis can hit the notes, she is a wonderful singer but she has nothing on Whitney's voice at all. Whitney was in my opinion, as many of us here, the greatest voice that pop music has ever produced. ‘Run to You’ is among her best, and also a technically near impossible song to sing.....Because of the toll that rampant drug use took on Whitney’s voice, she never sang it live, at least not in the original key. Glynnis’s interpretation (singing in the original key) is jaw-dropping, as is her beauty. This is one of the best live performances of a song I’ve ever heard.

Her voice is mind-blowing and her classiness in an evening gown brings back what I loved about Whitney....the fact that she presented herself on stage as a lady fully dressed in glamorous evening gowns of time past instead of half-naked and let her beauty and voice captivate the audience. She was the last of what I called the "Park and Bark Singers" - just stand there and blow.

I am speechless. This song isn't just about having a powerful voice, to fully interpret the song emotionally you need to immerse into the lyrics of the song. To get it right, you have to both show and sing it with a sense of vulnerability. And Glennis did it just right whereby it becomes believable and pulls you into the song. For a moment, I found myself in suspension of disbelief whereby I felt like if I was Kevin Costner just like in the movie "Bodyguard" watching Whitney Houston's MTV singing "Run To You" to me just like the MTV of the song only instead with Glennis. It was a magnificent performance, Glennis!❤

This is an INCREDIBLY challenging song to cover because it fully encompasses Whitney's FULL voice package: the soft beautiful song-bird like head voice and vibrato, whitney's INCREDIBLE rifts and runs, and her sheer power and crescendo as she approaches the bridge in this song. You can tell that Glennis really has an ear for detail and vocals and the God given ability to recreate it herself. God and Whitney looked down and smiled at this, I have no doubt about it ( :
