As an owner of the same Yamaha p-125, I was stunned by the totally different sound he’s making from it. So I don’t need $6,000 high tech digital piano but only need to practice more... got it!
Hey Jacob, great video! You're very talented. I have also lived in Rochester, NY - it's a small world ... I still kind of miss the city, perhaps, except for winters. ;-) Best wishes for your career! I have a quick question - I have absolutely no experience playing any instrument and have never studied music formally. However, I very much love music and would like to learn to play piano for myself and perhaps for occasional entertaining friends or a company. However, I'm afraid that I might either fail in mastering the instrument (for example, in achieving hand independence) or lose interest in playing. From that perspective, would you suggest to get necessarily a 88 weighted keys instrument (for that, I'm torn between P-125 and DGX-660) or a decent 61 non-weighted keys instrument (such as Casio CT-X700, which sounded pretty good to my non-musical ear)? I have a tight budget, so I cannot splurge on Tyros or Genos :-). Even buying P-125 or DGX-660 would be a tough financial decision, considering potential loss of interest in playing, hence my mention of CT-X. I would appreciate your advice on the above.
He has great dedication to muscle memory and a typical traditionally trained instrumentalists; a clone. It’s one thing being able to technically play an instrument to the instruments capabilities, but it’s another thing being able to transpose emotion, which I didn’t feel.
I played the P115 on stage since it first came out and I have to say it did very, very well. I then purchased the P125 when it came out. This is one fantastic keyboard. I have been playing it on stage for the past year and it does absolutely great. I just can't get over why they keep calling this an entry level keyboard? Lets bee honest now, the average person that will come to a lounge or nightclub to listen to a live band, couldn't tell the difference between ANY of the pianos in this same class. It is a bit heavy I must say, but aside from that I would recommend this to beginner or professional. Thank you for allowing me to post my opinion.
By itself it weighs a bit more than 20 lbs. If you weigh under 130 lbs. and are not under 35 years of age, it is heavy. I love this piano by the way. No regrets about my purchase in February from Sweetwater.com.
I own both P115 and a P125. its crazy but the P115 has a better feeling and more realistic action and nicer sound imo!! Yamaha claims its exactly the same action but its not. It feels slower and less like a real piano on the P125. P125's CFIII grand (default piano) also sounds brighter and I'm not a fan. You can hear this difference on youtube demos too!

guys I've had Yamaha P125 for about a year now and honestly don't look anywhere else if you need a good portable piano for everyday practice and for stage too. If you are a beginner it could be a little pricey but if you plan on studying and improving your skills this is definitely a smart choice. I had absolutely no hardware issues so far i think that is due to the simplicity of the device. Works perfectly with windows 10 although finding the right midi driver could be a little bit of hassle. For mac (garage band) users again no issues there, works great. Bottom line, great piano for day to day use. Highly recommend.
Tigran Tashchyan do you mostly play classical music? I’m leaning towards es110 simply because of a richer piano sound, but at the same time I feel like I might miss out on the yamahas features. Great review, Jacob! You should have mentioned that there is a 73 key version of the P125, known as the P121, which is (feature-wise) identical in every way to the P125. Being less wide, it's even more portable than the P125, which might be important for those for whom portability is a major factor in their purchase decision.
My daughter has completely avoided synthesizers and electric pianos for her whole life; and really wants the weighted keys to feel right. I’m really excited to to get this keyboard sometime soon. I’ve been playing guitar for like 20 years and have always wanted to learn piano. It’ll be a struggle though since I learned guitar by ear/tabs lol
i have a p125 and a ck88, if im only using a piano (not layers or synths etc.) for a gig i choose the p125, love that “Live Grand” preset, also i like the key feel better on the p125
Sweetwater, seller of keyboards, publishes here a "review" rather than an advertisement. They are obviously an objective, disinterested party, and this candor should make us all want to do business with them.
Not that anybody cares, but from the many demos I've listened to, the P-125 has the best choir sound of any digital piano in the price range (and beyond). So if you're playing Bach chorales, this isn't a bad option.

First of all, YOU ARE AN INCREDIBLE AND VERSATILE PIANIST! I could listen to you all day! ----- I'm going to try to find an email address to send you my question.
I've been playing on and off for almost 45 years (half a century), 30 years longer than this guy is old judging by his face. Ask away.
You make any keyboard look the best ... even if it's not ...
You are really good
I’d usually be leaving a troll comment by now, but DANG YOU CAN PLAY.
I wish i can buy your talent too alongwith the yahama 125p ....
Just bought one! Looking forward to it!
Thank you sooo much.Your clip helps me a lot! You r amazing piano player too.👍
Umm so I got a P125 recently, upgrading from the P115 and I watched this video to get an idea of the functionalities of my new piano, and this guy such an amazing pianist, I saved this just to hear his skillful playing. I get that you work for Sweetwater, but I’m hoping you are also touring, soloing, recording on people’s albums (or your own) because wow! I have been playing since I was four (I am 50 now) and I can’t even figure out the notes of what you’re sampling, much less adapt your styles perfectly to the different sounds on the piano. Does this guy ever flub notes? It’s perfection. 🙏🌈🎶🎶🎶
Hello , it may be a bit out of context but im about to buy a piano and im very confused rn , i guess u have been there too , im undecided between Fp30 and p-125 they both sound good to me , im more into classical music so do u think the p125 does well with classical?
False advertisement. When I play it doesn’t sound that good. I want my money back. 😏
I just bought this piano along with some of the other options. I agree with this guy's review (with a touch of flexing HAHA!)
I’m really excited to to get this keyboard sometime soon. I’ve been playing guitar for like 20 years and have always wanted to learn piano. It’ll be a struggle though since I learned guitar by ear/tabs lol
I've had mine for a month now and I love love love it.
@Bezad Compani How is it trash? Bet you can't even play first of all and I have this piano and it's amazing
Wow great video those websites don't mention much of anything when it comes to features. Great playing as well.
I like to 'slap' that young man into MY world of 'KEYBORED' playing. AWESOME musician. thanks.
Only connects with iOS devices. THAT is important information that I have not heard in any other review. Thanks for saving me a huge hassle!
So many beautiful moments in this video. My favs: 6:04, 6:45, 10:15, 11:07
Jacob, great demo and superb playing. Saw your last name and figured out I know your Dad and much of your family (BR and Houma). Small world!
Wow that's awesome, small world indeed! Glad you enjoyed it!
sweet video. This guy makes great videos. Love when he rocks out around the 14:!5 mark.
I am quite satisfied with my PSR-S670. Good job Yamaha.
I own this digital Piano , it’s great 👍 for a learner like me , it perfect .
Is it weighted keys
Sne NCAMA yes
I came for the review, I stayed for Jacob Dupre. :D
***Smart Pianist now available for ANDROID***
LoL. You just saved Yamaha a sale. Thx
But does it work
Yes
Thanks for the update
awesome presentation by an awesome musician!!
i have a p125 and a ck88, if im only using a piano (not layers or synths etc.) for a gig i choose the p125, love that “Live Grand” preset, also i like the key feel better on the p125
Sweetwater, seller of keyboards, publishes here a "review" rather than an advertisement. They are obviously an objective, disinterested party, and this candor should make us all want to do business with them.
This piano sounds delicious
It sounds beautiful and I’m going to buy one👍🏻
Not that anybody cares, but from the many demos I've listened to, the P-125 has the best choir sound of any digital piano in the price range (and beyond). So if you're playing Bach chorales, this isn't a bad option.
P115 came out in 2017 then P125 came out in 2018 ... Is P135 coming out this year?
😑
Samriddhi Saha Maybe in 2020 / 2021. 😀
@@Marian1st. maybe😊
Is the P135 really a thing? It’s 2020 but I haven’t heard of one being released
MsStarryEyed The way things are going, I’ll be surprised to see a release this year.
Шикарный и очень подробнейший разбор! Респект автору!!!! :)
