Everyone’s saying Emma’s depressed because she’s bored and it makes me so frustrated. I feel like this is so healthy for anyone to do. Like allowing yourself to be bored and allow creativity to flow is just such a good thing. Why are people telling her what her mental health is??

@@awilliams7796 she has the right to say it herself. We as outsiders looking in to her life do not have the right to tell her what her mental state is at any given time. She’s a person too. We need to offer her the same respect of privacy that any other person gets.
@@awilliams7796 it’s not people saying that she struggles with depression, it’s people saying she is actively depressed just because she’s enjoying boredom. All of these comments are stemming from a toxic tik tok that says she’s miserable with her life. If you haven’t listened to her podcast, you def should. It gives a whole different outlook on the situation.

This is actually the opposite of depression. She’s absolutely content in her own company and goes along doing her routine and things that seem interesting to her. Idk why so many people who aren’t even qualified in psychology are saying that she is.

I've started crocheting, reading, hiking, and going for walks when I'm bored. I also spend more time cooking, and find stuff to clean. Boredom is nice to let yourself process what's been going on.

wow I did not know everyone in the comment section are certified psychologists 🤠 coming from someone who's depressed the last thing u should do is be diagnosing someone in general but not to mention someone who is obviously already VERY self aware... not to mention Emma has ALREADY pointed out the fact that she's depressed in multiple videos so if u really think repeating that to her is going to create some crazy breakthrough you know less about mental health than u think. I understand some of these comments are coming from a good place but maybe take a second to think about how the person receiving those messages might feel. it already takes a lot to talk about symptoms and how simple things can be hard, so maybe don't come in the comments acting like you have a fucking PHD

I like this girl for the sole fact that she probably could be out living the wildest life yet she just stays at home. THIS is relatable content. Thank you for not making me feel like a bum.
I know right. But she goes out like every weekend with her friends or mini vacations but she doesn’t film it. I always see pics of her in a big friend group LOL or doing the coolest promotions...like that recent Levi jeans interview with Hailey Baldwin. Emma enjoys her alone time to re charge and doesn’t feel the need to show off all the cool things she does. I truly admire her for that lol. She’s her authentic self.

i love how emma is just so authentic and honest about her life. she doesn't try to glamorize or romanticize her life for the aesthetic and i really respect that. it makes me feel like there is a much more personal (or maybe just honest?) relationship between her and the viewers. the best way i can describe the feeling i get from watching her videos is maybe "an escape to reality" if that makes any sense.

She got up, showered, washed her hair, painted her nails, went out and even cooked herself something. If you have an intention of helping, maybe, maybe point out the positive changes she's making and acknowledge that she's trying.

I didn't say that she's depressed, it's not my place to say, I just commented on one habit that she displayed in the video because the persone who said "this is the opposite of depression" not only showed ignorance on the theme (wich bothered me), but made an assumption on something so delicate just basing of a few habits and ignoring all the other things she said. My point wast that we can't diagnosr her because we're not with her 24/7, for a healthy habit that someone points out we can find an unhealthy one, it's wrong to say that she's depressed but also that she isn't.
And also, if she does have depression (wich most likely she does, I think she said it hersel), reading comments where people say that you don't have it can be incredibly invaliditating

I don't think that the comment was being ignorant or invalidating, I think that the comment was encouraging the healthy behaviours she displayed in a response to a lot of people disacknowledged them, they weren't comment on what was going on outside of the video. Denying somebody's depression can be harmful but I don't think that this was the case, maybe OP didn't word themselves extensively enough.

Emma has inspired me to do something with my life and be healthy. Like workout, cook healthy meals, and stuff like that but she also inspires me to be myself and not pretend to be perfect

She’s quite open on her podcast about her mental health, it’s not really a secret
Speculating about depression isnt as bad as you may think it is. Everyone acts like it’s bad to speculate and diagnose, until the person loses it, had a mental breakdown or hurts themselves, THEN everyone will regret not speaking up. I’d give anything to have people ask me if I’m okay and try to make sure I’m not lying or something, that’s what the comments are, it’s not hate or accusations, it’s all love and support. The real issue is people hyping up this depressed behaviour and calling her a relatable queen that hasn’t changed due to LA, which is extremely toxic to say considering this behaviour isn’t healthy and now she might feel be reluctant to change because she doesn’t want to be told she’s changed or isn’t relatable anymore which has happened to her many times. That’s just my opinion. I’d be way more uncomfortable being boxed in as a relatable person for being bored, sad, alone and self deprecating than I would be if people were worried about my obvious mental health issues that I’ve been open about countless times.

You could also make a vid about how you put together an outfit/what your thought process is. You could also make a video around what you'd wear for different occasions (grocery run, brunch, coffee date, movie date, going shopping, having a picnic, etc.). You could take that idea and make it more crazy/niche/specific (make an outfit for oddly specific events) like make an outfit for going to brunch with Harry styles, an outfit for the grocery store when you run into someone from high school, or for a party on a yacht with lizzo, or for visiting a castle, etc.

No, the first part is what the comment were before this tiktoker explained how depressed and unhappy she clearly is and how wrong it was that people were hyping her up for being “relatable” when she’s clearly just not doing well. When someone’s relatable for bad things that harm people or themselves, it’s not good to feed that energy, even if we relate. Emma is truly one of the most intelligent influencers today. The messages she’s been difunding about checking information, about reading, about social media, depression, anxiety, are so important to her public. Not only this, but the independece she has at this age and her way of doing bussiness are impressive. I really like this girl!

I love some of themes/topics of this video, namely, boredom and misinformation. It reminds me of some other themes I have been exploring lately from other creators.
There is nothing wrong with being bored and it is okay to be bored sometimes. Supposedly (maybe check my facts here :) ) boredom inspires people and kick starts their creativity. Next time you are feeling bored, let yourself be bored. Just take in the moment and actually observe what is going on around you. Don't immediately just a device and start scrolling mindlessly. I didn't get a smart phone until 2021 (I think it was sometime in March) and I only got it because it was actually starting to make tasks in my life harder without it for a number of reasons. I started finding myself picking up my phone in almost every situation when I was doing nothing. Even if I was just standing in line at a store for a minute. It hasn't even been a year and I already find myself reaching for my phone in almost every situation where I am not doing something where I used to have no problem just sitting with my thoughts. It is a little scary how fast that happened.

I don’t get why people are saying she is depressed.. I literally live my life like this video of her and some of us just enjoy being alone
We’re not trying to hate on her for being alone, we are just concerned for the lack of care she has for herself.
Cats often give more attention to people when they’re depressed.
She says she was lazy “for some reason”, when she wouldn’t wash her hair or do her skincare
When she was trying to get in the shower, she had to give herself a reason to stating it would be easier to stay in bed. She even said she did a good job, because she is finally taken care of herself.
She may potentially get depressed when the weather changes, which is very normal it’s seasonal depression.
This sponsorship was maybe the only reason she took care if herself that day, and that’s great!
When she talks about shopping, (which is something she used to love) she is almost saying it makes her feel unfulfilled and guilty, which is a common symptom of depression, losing interest in things you usually love.

Emma uses her filming day as a reason to take care of herself which may be true for many UA-camrs but she shows us the full scope of what she looks like and feels like most of the time. We love her for it bc we can relate, on an emotional level we all can relate to not feeling as good as we would like to most of the time. I honestly hope that we all together can find the answer to feeling good and inspired and excited ab life more of the time. Not excited ab huge events just excited ab being alive and little stuff that makes us happy. It's possible, we can do it.
